The Duke of Edinburgh celebrates his 98th birthday today. The royal family shared several pictures of the Duke on social media, including a black and white picture of him in military uniform from 1953 to mark the event. Philip was born on the island of Corfu in 1921. He married Queen Elizabeth on November 20, 1947. Prince Philip announced his retirement from most public duties in May 2017 and has only occasionally been seen alongside the queen since then. The Duke spends most of his time at his Wood Farm cottage on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. Happy Birthday, Prince Philip! |
The Best of Wishes to the DOE the Prince Philip of Britain. Today he is 98 years young. His smile is the biggest, when he is with the LOVE of his LIFE,the Queen. May he has several more of such celebrations. HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOUR RH.
ReplyDeleteWow! Harry looks so much like his grandfather in that second to last picture. I would love to see black & white side by sides.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you.
DeleteThere's actually a picture out there somewhere on the Web of Prince William with his head/profile turned at angle and a photo of the DoE with his head turned at that exact same angle and it is really spooky how identical they look! I was like, :-o when I saw it. I mean, I know it's all genes and genetics but, Man! :-O
DeleteWith Harry, I didn't see the resemblance when he was younger, in his twenties, but the older he gets the more he looks like the DoE. The thing that really gets me is how much Harry resembles King Henry VIII! It's hard to really know because portraits of those days were more about interpretation (and in this case, pleasing the subject) than accuracy but, there are some portraits of King Henry, with the red hair and all, that look amazing similar to Harry especially with them both having the shorter beards.
Fabulous photos. He was one hell of a handsome man, still is. That picture of his with Catherine is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteTo the DOE Prince of Britain a very happy 98th Birthday .What kept him so young is the priceless gift entrusted into his hands by King George VI. The Love and light of his long life,Elizabeth II. He was blessed by being a husband, father grandfather and great grandfather.Have a blessed day YRH.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said!

72 years of marriage is astounding.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to this very special day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings πππ
Long live DoE!
ReplyDeleteCheers to the "Iron Duke"! Is it any wonder why a young Princess Elizabeth lost her heart to him and then dug her heals in about marrying him when others were advising that maybe he wasn't the right one? Please! [Insert eye roll here.] She knew/knows a good thing when she sees it. :D
ReplyDeleteAlles Gute fΓΌr Prinz Philip π ich finde ihn einfach wonderful - eine lebende Legende !!
ReplyDeleteIt’s easy to see why this dashing young man caught the eye of a beautiful young princess.
