  1. Wat een mooie prinses Elisabeth hebben wij en die jas staat haar perfect, ze is ineens helemaal volwassen.
Mathilde mag zich eens een nieuw zwart jasje aanschaffen.

I found it rather odd that the Grand Duchess did not wear any hat or head covering

    2. I agree it is odd. All ladies from the family, incl Claire, Felix's wife, wear a hat.

    3. I watched the Euro News and you can see, IMO a black velvet ornament on the bottom of GD's hair; As a devout catholic, only some kind of technical disaster could have prevented her from not wearing a hair ornament/hat on such an occasion.

Yes, Anon 3:58, I so agree with you, she could have at least had something on her head, like the lady who walk side by side with prince Laurant. Is it called a "netting," or? Good to see Adelaide Draper-Fisch [spelling] [don't know her title], even if she is in far in the back ground

Stephanie's behavior throughout the funeral was odd.
She looked seriously pissed off at something/someone the entire time. She was frowning a lot.
I know people grieve in different ways but it was strange. She didn't look sad, she looked mad.

      I agree
      Stephanie looked angry
And her skirt was too short and fluttering

    3. Agree. Angry face. Unflattering skirt.

    4. Stephanie looked lovely today and, to me, her face was sad and distressed--distress and trying not to cry can look like anger. Also, anger is part of grief. She just lost her own Father and may be wondering when the sad times will end.
Her hair was beautifully styled and her hat was perfect.

Pine, I totally agree with you. Stephanie looked lovely in the outfit, and she was not angry in the photos I viewed, rather sad, distressed, and still mourning the loss of her own father.

I was fortunate enough to have the honor of attending this funeral, and I agree that Stephanie did look angry.
I saw her up close and she really did look mad.
Other people at the funeral noticed as well.

I can't believe all the criticisms of Stephanie. Her father just died. Of course she is very sad. Sorry she didn't have the expression some want her to and is being accused of being angry. This seems extremely disrespectful to post comments like this about someone who is grieving. Even though it may seem anonymous & okay to critique people online we must remember that they are real people with real feelings. Now on top of her grief she is going to hear accusations that she was angry. I think we all need to remember the old saying from childhood: If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all.

Redefreiheit hin oder her.

You all need to stop taking out the rulers. It's 2019 Stephanie's skirt is not short at all. Women have knees and thighs, grow up. They can wear what they like and what feels comfortable. Also she's grieving and you have no idea how she handles grief. Last time I checked people don't usually smile at funerals so leave her alone.

  12. Sad occasion - you can see it in their faces. He was obviously a popular man that so many other royal families turned out for his farewell.

I think the Grand Duchess looks fine, I think she probably knows what is required for her father-in-law's funeral.

As for Stephanie- I saw sadness and grief not anger. Her face was serious. And I really cannot see anything wrong with what she is wearing - I though she was wearing a micro-mini from the comments.

Agree about Stephanie being sad and griefing.

    2. Agree, I fail to see any anger. People are just looking for any gesture to stir the pot. The length of the dress is perfectly fine for the occasion, not my preferred one, but that is personal taste, nothing to do with appropriateness... SMH!

tessy is incredible, i said it in advance, she is going to make selfies in the chapelle ardente with the open coffin of our dear grand-duke, or she will make selfies during the funereal in the cathedral and post them immediately. no manners,no respect, no tact!

  17. I have just watched the funeral. The contribution of the 5 grandchildren was so moving and the singing of the national anthem. However, the Irish guards playing Highland Cathedral on the bagpipes in tribute to the Grand Duke and remembering his service in the war was incredibly emotional. The criticism of Stephanie seems incredibly harsh. I did not see her looking angry or mad and can't understand where that came from. It is hard enough not to cry in public anyway without avoiding doing so with the world's media looking on. Apart from the pipes, what really made me so sad was the obvious frailty of people Like King Albert and Queen Paola, Princess Astrid, King Juan Carlos. I also think of the health of Prince Philip, the only one left of the trio of Princes born in 1921, who contributed in one way or another to the defeat of the Nazis. Grand Duke Jean---a remarkable man. RIP

Come on give us a break! We do not know what goes on inside somebody's head. We have to stop analyzing pictures and expression even if we think we are god and knows everything. And Stephs dress is nothing wrong with, her dress is not shorter then Mathildes, but still she gets negative comments. That's says a lot. And headgear...seriously. Some of us need a chill pill ;)

  19. Princess Elisabeth is the most beautiful future queen of the European royals. She has something similarly with her great great grandmother queen Astrid.
