  1. What a lovely wedding. The bride looked beautiful, her dress feminine, flattering and understatedly pretty in every detail, not OTT formal and grand which I think was brilliant (in case the press might be tempted to invent a competition between the recent royal brides). The family history of that glorious tiara was a statement that needed no help :-). Well done Gabriella!

I was disappointed in Princess Michael of Kent, though; such a beautiful woman who used to dress with wonderful elegance (with one or two notable exceptions!) but lately seems to go in for a rather ponderous, clutttered look with too much going on, imo.

As always on these occasions, the female guests' attire offered a truly dizzying variety of styles. I'll play it very safe and give Queen Elizabeth top sartorial honors :-D.

The little flower girls and pages looked sooo adorable -- although I would have preferred a pastel peach or apricot for their outfits that would have gone so well with the flowers.

Well I never thought that the mother of the bride was that elegant. She was always over the top for me. Her latest most memorable performance was at the very wedding of her son, Frederik, it was awful. At least for her daughter's wedding she covered up.

    3. Jane Chantal! It looks as if, on this gorgeous occasion, the Princess Michael, the mother of the bride, went for the same color scheme as on the day when she was taking her little newborn Ella home from the hospital. She also went for the coat in a way. All in all one splendid wedding! The bride! The decoration, and all of the other Italian fashions! Lovely to see Duchess of Gloucester in one of her trademark silk dresses. She looks perfect!

    4. Hello, Liza -- yes, I think you're right that Princess Michael perhaps chose lilac for that reason. It's a very pretty color on her; I just wish her outfit had been a bit more streamlined and her jewelry and accessories edited for a less bulky look.

    5. Hello again, Jane Chantal! I see; I think I know what you mean. I agree with you. All the options she's had available this was a missed opportunity; IMO, looking from the outside in. Who knows...

  3. The bride looks lovely - the dress is beautiful.

Love the Queen's bright outfit - faithful to her usual style but it works.

Princess Beatrice also looks very nice. I like Amelia Windsor's dress although I'm not usually a fan of her style. Sophie Winkleman also looks nice - love the colour and feathery effect on the coat.

Love the Duchess of Gloucester's dress but not the headband. Not loving Princess Michael's look - it doesn't quite come together for me.

I would like Sarah Ferguson's dress if it were fitting better, it clings in an unflattering way - I love the colour.

Not sure why Princess Anne decided her flight attendant uniform circa 1980 was the way to go for a wedding.

Overall, a lovely happy family day.

  4. I know they are relatives, but still... Prince Michael of Kent looks a lot like the last emperor Nikolai II and I just noticed, that Lord Frederik looks a lot like grand duke Dmitri Pavlovich 🤔

    1. Yes, the family resemblances emerge startlingly at times...I still can't get over the photos that were taken of future King George V standing next to his cousin Tsar Nicholas. If I'm not mistaken, Prince Michael speaks Russian and is something of an expert on the family history. And recently, it was pointed out to me that Princess Beatrice -- particularly around the eyes -- bears a resemblance to Queen Victoria. I hadn't noticed it, but if you look at the Winterhalter portraits, it is very striking.

  6. What a beautiful wedding and the bride looked gorgeous. The guests looked great too although it appears that Sarah is losing the battle of the bulge that she has been fighting for years. Beatrice’s boyfriend looks like he was searching for the camera. I don’t have a good feeling about that relationship.

Pippa was the ex girlfriend of the groom, and Prince William also used to date another ex girlfriend of the same groom. I know it's great to be cordial and get on with life, but every wedding within those young high class Brits has the same scheme. It makes uncomfortable and tells me a lot about the way they are.
Anyway, back to fashion the Middleton have really odd sense. Papa Middleton is always the only one who gets it right, Carole's dress is a bit short and take away the elegance of the outfit, James is always frumpy and Pippa Oh gosh what was she thinking, I disliked everything from head to toe. James french girlfriend is cute though.

Marie, I have never understood the British tradition of inviting your ex to your wedding. It's odd. It's almost like they're rubbing it in their faces. And if you don't attend you'll look bitter.
I remember when Chelsea Davy attended Harry's wedding that poor girl was in tears and looked miserable.
Why make yourself go through that, all to look so cordial and sophisticated.

      Delete
    6. It's not a British tradition. They've stayed friendly so they're invited. If they hadn't been on good terms they can turn the invitation down.

Chelsy decided the royal life wasn't for her - she didn't need to attend the wedding. If people attend to look sophisticated and not bitter then more fool them - if remaining friends is a problem it wouldn't happen.

And from what I read, Dominique, is that Harry and Chelsea actually spoke over the phone, shortly before his and Meghan's wedding, and he told her, he moved on, and it's final. And yes, I ask the same, why do they always invite their ex[es]. Why go through the pain again?

      Delete
    8. Dominique19/5/19 14:41

Franny, could you just see the made up news if Chelsea hadn't of attended "Harry's bitter ex refuses to go to royal wedding" "Chelsea jealous of Meghan, wants Harry back".
She probably doesn't care what people think. But because they're all in that odd same circle off friends, she knew that gossipers would have would have been questioning why didn't she go.
Don't go and get risked being called bitter.
Go and have to sit through the awkwardness of watching a past love that you deeply cared for marry someone else.
All the while there's hundreds of cameras there.
It was a lose/lose situation for her.

In fact The Daily Mail even tried to stir up drama with her crying photos saying she was inconsolable.
Yes, while they might be on good terms inviting a past lover to watch you marry someone else is weird.

Royalty Fan, I heard about him calling her too. Although I wondered how true it was?

The Queen stood out lovely as always, love her hat.So nice to have seen Prince Philip there too.I missed Eugenie and Jack?and Paola Windsor, maybe there are just not enough pics yet. Sarah's outfit a nice color, but not for her and way too snug, but the hat was nice. Beatrice dress was a nice color, but not right for a daytime wedding,OMO. Wish lots of Happiness to the Newlyweds.

Only thing I don't understand is why so many people think Lady Amelia is the most beautiful or the hottest british royal? ?(I have that information from DailyFail - sorry, DailyMail - which I read in order to improve (??) my english. And I'm really ok with Princess Michaels style.
Sophie Winkleman looks nice, but no wow-effect, I still can't come over it, that with her a member of the royal family played in 'two and a half men' *g*

Carole and Pippa also look good.

I'm fine with Sarah (maybe bit tight but I'm still fine), and I'm ok with Beatrice.

  13. The Bride looks lovely!! The Queen looks fabulous in that shade of pink.

As for the Mother of the Bride, I believe she suceeded in making herself look older than the Queen!! The Duchess of York's dress looks too snug. With a little more room, it could be lovely. Princess Beatrice's dress isn't entirely appropriate for a wedding IMO. And I wish her hat coordinated with the dress.

  14. Beautiful bride, romantic, classic, and basically no departure from her usual style.
The Queen: as usual, right on point for her age and position.
The Middletons : they rarely fail, because they don't risk, they know their place and don't make waves, correct and appropriate, Pippa somewhat boring, and Carole should consider lengthening the hem, she would look a million times better.
Duchess of York: almost everybody agrees that the dress is too tight and too short to be elegant, the shoes are to my liking, but never with this outfit, the hat is great. I keep wondering why women don't realize that their appearance is always better when one choses the right size.
Princess Michael of Kent: she looks chic, and different, but do I like it? Not really, not for this important occasion.
Beatrice: transparencies, never on a church wedding, this hat was never meant to be worn with this dress, shoes are divine.
Amelia: espadrilles, with formal headgear? This dress would look great on a picnic with flowers on her head :-)
Sophie: she looks OK, lovely hat, and a dress that will not be remembered , but compared to other guests, she wins.

    The Queen, lovely as usual...
Princess Anne, not an outfit for a wedding, neither was Bea's dress, though lovely it was not suitable for a wedding and the hat, did not go with the dress at all.
The woman in the over sized pink dress with yellow flowers was totally off the mark, it was ugly and wrinkled, the shoes did not match the hat which was too formal for the dress and shoes...
Not sure what to say about the bride's mother, nothing was right about her outfit. Fergie, dress way too small, should have worn stockings, and her shoes were just ugly...

The bride was totally lovely, as was her handsome father.

The bride looks nice though the dress is quite blain. Most of the visitors looks quite disaster. Only few exceptions: I like Beatrice's dress and hair, not the hat so much, mrs Middleton looks stylish and the older lady with bright blue colour has a nice dress, the headpiece is not so good. And the Queen is ok.

  24. Adore the bride's dress--it's elegant, sophisticated, beautiful. Agree with Anon 9:51--one of my favourite wedding dresses of recent years.
The Queen was perfect and looked so happy and wonderful to see the Duke attending this wedding too. I love the photos of him laughing with Harry and Lady Helen Taylor. The photo of the Queen and Harry smiling at each other is also lovely and there is a really sweet photo elsewhere of the bride, who is so tall, stooping down to speak to the Queen who is now so small. It's the best photo of the day on my opinion.
I disagree that the pink suits Sarah, Duchess of York and it was far too tight. Hat and shoes are great though. I like Beatrice's dress but like Royalty fan and Linda C, I don't have a good feeling about the boyfriend. I try to be supportive of Princess Anne but really can't see anyway of justifying this outfit
Very much liked the colour of the Duchess of Gloucester's outfit, but not sure if the pale blue and red combo worn by Lady Rose quite works for me.
For the Kents, if you can find a picture of Princess Alexandra, she looked as lovely as always, the Countess of St Andrew's looked great too but like most comments above, I was not a fan of Lady Amelia's outfit, apart form the hat, which I loved. The huge red hat, floral dress and mustard shoes of Lady Marina doesn't really work for me either. The best dressed of the day in my opinion was Zenouska Mowatt, grandaughter of Princess Alexandra, if you can find a photo of her.
It's been a lovely weekend, enjoying another royal wedding
