On May 16, 2019, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended a dinner held at Langelinie Pavillonen in connection with Copenhagen Fashion Summit 2019. Copenhagen Fashion Summit 2019 took place at DR Concert Hall between the dates of May 15 and May 16, 2019. Copenhagen Fashion Summit is an international conference focusing on sustainable fashion. |
I think this would have worked better without the white blazer. The bodice of the dress is nice, but the skirt looks messy, there is too much going on. But she can have the colours, and not everyone can.
ReplyDeleteI have said before that I view "sustainable fashion" as a useless concept since fashion is per definition not sustainable. Fashion is about creating trends and fuelling consumption, and that is the polar opposite of sustainable long-term solutions.
ReplyDeleteThese photos we´ve seen from this "Fashion summit" only confirm this contradiction. They looked very much like red-carpet coverage where people make an entrance wearing the latest fashion, every time photographed in front of sponsor billboards.
None of the outfits Mary (and her friend) sported during this event looked like business attire which I would have expected in order to at least remotely sell the idea of a serious conference. This latest (2 piece?) dress featured above is ok-ish but the colour is rightout ugly. (The colour "nude" shouldn´t be used in clothing other than tights, underwear and pumps.) The white jacket totally clashes with the dress. And while I understand that a contrasting colour was needed, I would not have chosen white for the job, because it too is a neutral non-colour, and often ends up looking like a lab coat, especially when it already looks out of place and disconnected from the rest of the outfit.
1 x modisch, 1 x klassisch.
Isn´t fleischfarben and nude the same? It´s the colour of flesh optically creating an image of nudeness, hence the name. I for one don´t see the need for wearing something that makes you look nude, and I haven´t seen a single nude outfit that I considered successful. Nude underwear on the other hand makes perfect sense as it doesn´t show through light-coloured clothing; nude tights are great to match bare arms, and nude shoes are a great neutral option.
DeleteAnyway, you´re quite right, I´m a total conservative when it comes to outfits and styling, firmly advocating for timeless old-school style.
I also agree with you that it is the consumers who need to force change in producers. I my view though this is only possible by a) consuming less in general (another reason to go for timeless outfits ;-) and b) by not buying into labels as status symbols.
Not a fan of this dress, nice upper part the skirt looks sloppy the blazer don"t seem to fit with the outfit.
ReplyDeleteWhile the dress is pretty, the style of the jacket and dress do not work well together.
ReplyDeleteI really like this champagne color, specially on women with dark hair, I think this dress ( or maybe is 2 piece) is rather feminine and whimsical, good choice of shoes as well. I like this classic crisp jacket, but I am trying to wrap my head about mixing it with this dress, it does look a little disconnected. I am not in love with Mary's hair on this occasion.
ReplyDeleteI guess I’m in the minority, but I like the outfit very much - the ethereal, floaty dress contrasted with the tailored jacket. Lovely colours too!
ReplyDeleteMinority maybe, but I share your view. And I think she had some business like outfits; thr event here is the "summit dinner", good to remember.
DeleteI think also that the white jacket clashes with the nude colour dress' s.
ReplyDeleteI love her dress!
ReplyDeleteI like the dress and don't mind the jacket although it wouldn't have been my choice of pairing with this dress.
ReplyDeletethats the same dress princess mary wore at the pre wedding gala concert and dinner offered by the swedish goverment to crown princess victoria and daniel westling back in 2010. with some modification on the leght and bodice. I liked it much better first!
ReplyDeletePatrick, well spotted!I like it, but I also have a slight problem with the blazer... But I have decided that it is ok in my eyes.
DeleteThat's the exactly same dress princess Mary wore at the pre wedding gala concert and dinner offered by the Swedish government to crown princess Victoria and Daniel Westling back in 2010. Now with some modification on the lenght and bodice. I liked it much better before!
ReplyDeleteI would really like to see Mary's dress without the blazer. I don't think it goes with it at all, but looks more like an afterthought. I like what I can see of the dress/skirt and top. What I am drawn to is her friend's outfit. From hair to shoes, she looks great.
