On April 13, Princess Charlene attended "HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco Royal Race Day" event held at Turffontein Racecourse in Johannesburg, South Africa. Before the event, Princess Charlene put flowers in front of Hennenman Air Crash Memorial to memorialize the jockeys who lost their lives in a tragical air crash on April 12, 1988. |
The color of this dress is great, but what is that thing sticking out, this is horrible. It looks like the large slip is sliding down, also the boots I think is a no no. This of course is OMO.
ReplyDeleteWe wait for a long time for the day she wears color and then she wears this!
DeleteThe colour of the dress and the makeup are perfect but imho the cut of the dress isn´t flattering on Charlene and on top the boots are speaking another language.
DeleteShe can do much better.
I am not sure if this race has anything in common with the Kentucky Derby in the US, where women wear outrageous hats and unique outfits in good fun, but Charlene's outfit looks mostly like a costume, and not a very flattering one at that.
ReplyDeleteConfused, but you may be on to something with the Kentucky Derby or ladies day at Ascot which is headed in the same direction. Beautiful 50's vibe until it gets to the dust ruffle.
DeleteThe shredded rag jumpsuit and matching turban would suggest you are on to something. She was wise to stand next to that mess. It makes her look quite chic by comparison.
DeleteWell that's one ugly outfit!
ReplyDeleteAgree! must answer a dress code, I guess. So different from usual style. Hairstyle is ugly as well.
Deletethats harsh its a race course, everyone comes with something outrageous gosh!!!!
DeleteRobe ridicule.
ReplyDeleteOh well in the minority here but I like it. The blue is stunning on her and I think it contrasts well with the black. Possibly some elegant shoes or sandals might have been better than the boots but she's definitely making a statement. Can can anyone?
ReplyDeleteDo you remember the movie “Can Can?”
ReplyDeleteOh My God....
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ninius and Myriam.
ReplyDeleteA dress more suitable to dance the French-cancan than to pray in front of this monument
ReplyDeleteHorror!
ReplyDeleteWhat was she thinking!? She looks as if she came from a Western saloon and will start Cancan any moment. The boots are just horrible.
ReplyDeleteCharlene is so beautiful, but fashion-wise she can sometimes be her own worst enemy. We've seen her in some pretty strange outfits, but this one has to be one of the strangest.
ReplyDeleteDitto.
DeleteI love it, the sleeves could use a little trim, otherwise great for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteI usually like the way she dresses but everything about this outfit is just wrong, from the can can type skirt to the boots with a wedge heel. What was she thinking but she does looks good in blue, I can say that.
ReplyDeleteDanseuse saloon !
ReplyDeleteTenue originale.
ReplyDeleteJ adooore
Idem pour les accessoires.
No comment! The dress 'speaks' for itself… ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt’s perfect for a day at the races!
DeleteWell, she wore a catsuit when visiting the White House..
ReplyDeleteI don't know what was going on here. This was a mess all over!
ReplyDeleteI am very impressed to know that Turffontein Racecourse in Johannesburg, South Africa is one of the best racecourses in the world the same as the Royal Ascot in UK and Dubai World Race in Dubai, UAE.
ReplyDeleteIn anglo-saxon culture, race meetings like these are "fun" days. For the women, it's almost like a fancy dress party. Fashion, mode etc are not respected and you just do your own thing and have fun. I think Charlene seems to be well into the swing of things. I hope a good time was had by all.
ReplyDeleteif you have never been into a racecourse, stop commenting,. everyone comes with something different stop your harsh comments pls!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stating this. I’ve been furious reading comments from people who don’t know the proper attire for this event.
DeleteDeadeggs ,est-ce un concours de la robe la plus laide ?
ReplyDeleteNo.
DeleteNot at all. Crazy styles, fun dresses, eccentricity (both with hats and dresses) are the order of the day. The women give Dior, Armani etc a day off. Charlene is respecting the anglo-saxon culture of a fun day at the races. Thanks for respecting this tradition Charlene and I hope you and everybody else had a great day with lots of laughs.
DeleteArmani this is not...
ReplyDeleteAlice in wonderland. Somehow here in South Africa she looks more joyfull and relaxed than in Monaco
