| On April 24, 2019, King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia of Spain held a traditional lunch at Madrid Royal Palace in honor of Uruguayan poet Mrs. Ida Vitale, who is the awardee of 2018 Miguel de Cervantes Award. Mrs. Ida Vitale and her family, goverment authorities, academicians, editors, critics, teachers and authors attended the lunch. On April 23, Ida Vitale received 2018 Miguel de Cervantes Award, which is called the Nobel Prize for Literature in Spain. The amount of the award is 125 thousand euros. |

ReplyDeleteWe can see how dresses that fall below the knee may be preferred even for younger women in formal situations. Also, Mrs. Vitale must certainly be enjoying flirtations with the King! My goodness he is so very handsome.

DeleteAgree with you both. Great dress, picture of elegance. Even on the younger women the short skirts are not especially flattering though the blue with the black jacket has potential; the clumsy shoes spoil the other dress. Neither is a patch on the Queen though.

ReplyDeleteThis print it's the opposite of little house in the prairie that so many royals are sporting nowadays, she is at her best when wearing CH, perfect fit and length, another plus is that she is repeating. Perfect from head to toe, and unusual that she is wearing a ring, she generally doesn't. Agree with Cecilia, in regards of the hems on the young ladies, very unflattering length, I adore mini-mini skirts on very young women on informal settings, but this particular in between it just doesn't work.

ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful dress - wonderful colours, pattern and a good fit on Letizia. I may have considered shortening the hem an inch or so, but it's just me being a perfectionist.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the young girls go, they're learning - so I am giving them a "pass" (although barely). Like most of you, I strongly believe a longer hemline would make them more appropriate for this occasion in particular (as well as in general). It may also have to do with the British upbringing we likely share, there are likely differences in other cultures.
