On February 1, 2019, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Bristol to meet members of the public, learn more about the city’s rich cultural history, and visit organisations supporting communities most in need. The Duke and Duchess visited Bristol Old Vic, where they will tour the recently renovated facility. The Couple also visited Empire Fighting Chance, which aims to fight the impact of deprivation on young people’s lives through boxing. (The Duchess wore a new printed silk midi dress by Oscar de la Renta.) |
Pretty, flowing, graceful dress and great for pregnancy! Also, I'm noticing that Harry's clothes look very sharp and stepped up. They are a charming couple.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. What a beautiful dress! I love the boots and bag as well. Great contrast.
DeleteHarry has stepped it up. He is looking sharper lately. It usually takes a wife to give a man a little fine tuning.
Pine, je suis tellement d'accord avec vous. Ils sont sympathiques et tout à fait charmants.
DeleteThis is lovely. The dress is very pretty and looks comfortable and elegant. Love the boots that give a bit of contrast and I like the simple hairstyle.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she wears socks or tights under her boots ...
Like the coat and boots, but the dress is a no-no! I wonder why women have to dress in “normal” clothes and not looser maternity wear. The neckline of the dress is not flattering and a light flowing dress seems an unlikely choice for a cold winters day.
ReplyDeleteMaternity clothes are light and flowing. I am not sure what the point of your comment is. You seem to contradict yourself.
DeleteI think Tharien van Eck referred to the material of the dress-silk is a light, flowing material and very summery. I prefer loose maternity clothes either, just like the duchess of Cambridge of the swedish princesses wore during their pregnancies. And they weren't old fashioned at all. But honestly so far this is the most maternity like dress during Meghan's pregnancy.
DeleteExactly what chardonn8r says: maternity is floating and loose in form. Don't understand your comment . This is very much what we had to wear 40 years ago. I am very happy for the young women today; They have a choice. I love the dress, love how HRH wears it; Personally I find it much nicer when you see the shape of the body with the new baby-to-be on board. Beautiful couple!
DeleteI think the point is that yes, this is a floating, flowy dress, but it is not a maternity dress. Meghan has had to tie the waist above her bump, which makes the bodice too loose and throws the fit out all over. If it was a maternity dress it would be cut to accommodate a pregnancy, and would fit accordingly. I don't personally understand why someone who is now quite heavily pregnant would still be trying to wear non-maternity clothes. They just don't fit!
DeleteI quite liked the dress, but not in a snowstorm. She must have been freezing.
ReplyDeleteChristine: But there is a warm coat and boots? And is there a snowstorm? I think she looks comfy and cosy in her outfit, and I like this unusual dress. Something different with enough "space". (Lovely interaction from the couple with the little kids, they clearly can't wait to have their own Baby :)

ReplyDeleteThere is so much good about todays trip.
Better keep the coat on.
ReplyDeleteInside a building? No one else needed a coat.
DeleteEarlier occasions have demonstrated that she isn't very, or not at all, sensitive to coldness. This beautiful dress has the advantage of being an "all around" the year dress. I love it. I think the distinction between normal dress or maternity dress is fading away. Woman can show their pregnancy everywhere at any time; no need to go back to the (very) wide dresses. I appreciate that. I was also looking forward to seeing her with boots.
Deletegorgeous couple
ReplyDeleteThey make such a cute and happy couple. Wish them a lot of energy for all the important things that you are still going to achieve until they become parents. Then, at the latest their baby at least deserves a break.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, make-up and hairstyle. But I'm not a fan of these boots.
ReplyDeleteNice dress, but I felt much more comfortable wearing maternity clothes, and God, were they ugly 57 and 54 years ago, when I had my kids.
ReplyDeleteChiffon dress and boots a wrong combination.
ReplyDeleteMeghan looks great. I like her with her hair down, her face looks much softer .
ReplyDeleteDress made out of chiffon and heavy looking boots don't go together.
I really love that this dress flows rather than clings; I doubt that Meghan has decided to Just Say No to spandex, but this is a lovely change. The overall print is not attractive, imo, but the sleeves are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely, I like everything here.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is very much a spring or summer dress and it looks rather cocktail too not for a day visit IMO . The boots just don't go with the dress at all way to heavy for such a light fabric as this. Why would she wear this in the depth of a British winter???? The coat is nice though
ReplyDeleteI kinda of like this dress, but not as maternity wear and definitely not for the winter weather and boots.
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely dress but with the black light shoes as on picture with model.
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine the comments if she had appeared in those shoes while it was snowing.
DeletePersonally, I like both looks - I don't mind the boots and floaty dress combo but it does look very pretty with the strappy sandal on the model.
Jolies bottes et manteau
ReplyDeleteWhat a smart combination of textures, fluid dress and soft suede. This dress is superb not your house in the prairie print, it brings a tropical sense to the otherwise dark backdrop. Very elegant!!
ReplyDeleteEverything is right with this appearance.
ReplyDeleteIf you aspire to be truely open-minded, you can just try to see the other side of an argument. That is not enough, you have to go all the way.. (Klostermann)
ReplyDeleteSounds quite philosophical. What do you want to tell us?
