On January 14, 2019, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Birkenhead to visit local projects and organisations. The Duke and Duchess firstly visited Hamilton Square in Birkenhead. Then, the Duke and Duchess visited 'Number Seven', a 'Feeding Birkenhead' supermarket and community cafe. (The Duchess's outfit: Sentaler long wide-collar vrap coat, Arıtzia Babaton Maxwell dress, Stuart Weitzman suede pumps, Gabriela Hearst Demi bag leather tote and Pippa Small Nosheen earrings). |
Love these cheerful colours, just the bag is a (absolute) no.
ReplyDelete"You want color? let me give you color"
Deletei love these colors, red suits her well
Il faut que quelqu'un se dévoue pour dire à la duchesse qu'elle ne va pas perdre son ventre comme cela. Inutile de le tenir à tout bout de champ. Ca en devient horripilant
ReplyDelete100% agreed
DeleteAGREE!!!
DeleteI seriously doubt that she’s “holding it all the time.” What most likely happened is that she held it once or twice during the entire long visit and those, of course, are the main photos they published.
DeleteI think everyone she leave her alone in regards to how much she does, or does not, touch her stomach. When you’re pregnant your body goes through all sorts of changes that you have absolutely no control over – this live being is growing and expanding inside you, pushing many of your internal organs up and out of the way – so if the woman needs to hold her belly leave her be! *You* do *your* pregnancy the way you want and she’ll do her’s the way she wants. As the song goes, “You be you and I’ll be me … and just let it be!”
Unknown: I had that question too - So I looked up all the pictures on Getty Images. She is cupping quite a lot, but more outside than inside buildings. (I have no answer as to why). If you look at pregnant Hollywood stars when they have their pictures made, their all 'cupping' too - so I think somewhere famous people have decided that cupping your pregnant belly is a good look in pictures. I'm sort of over it, though.
Deleteagree!!!
DeleteA story in Hello Magazine (Canada) quotes her as saying the baby is expected at the end of April, making her about 6 months pregnant. With a 'bump' the size of hers now, she's carrying triplets or an elephant.
ReplyDelete🤣
DeleteI agree! I read the same story, I know all women carry their babies differently but I’m due April 10 and am no where near that size. She’s five inches taller so she’s got more room for a baby but either it’s a very healthy size Singleton or she’s got twins in there. Not shaming her, just making an observation/comparison.
DeleteShe's been wearing maternity clothes for 3 months already, she looks at least 7 months pregnant, something doesn't add up. There is no shame in having your baby 9 months after the wedding, although I remember Grace Kelly being sort of 'ashamed' of the same.
DeleteBut have we really seen her in maternity clothing? I don´t follow her that closely, but from what I remember seeing on this site, she´s not worn any to date, today included. Neither the dress nor the coat are maternity wear.
DeleteAm surprised that I like this color combination, but it works. What does not work is the belt tied above the baby bump: Does. Not. Work. I like this beautiful coat, but if you need to keep warm while pregnant, get a different one that buttons and is tailored to work well with the changes in an expectant lady's figure.
ReplyDeleteAs for the belly-cradling (very evident in other pics I've seen) and PDA, it's becoming sort of a Meghan "shake things up" trademark and those of us who are annoyed by it might as well get used to it and refrain from bringing more attention to it.
My opinion on Meghan aside, I like these pieces but separately. The purple coat with a neutral coat would’ve been nicer, the red coat with her favorite black dresses would’ve been striking. But this color combination is just visually jarring. The coat hanging open like that just looks like a bathrobe, and her messy bun would’ve looked nicer if some of those face framing pieces were pinned back by her ears, still soft but not straggling around her face. I have no other comment about gestures or behaviors just keeping it to hair and fashion.
ReplyDeleteThis "messy bun" is not a bun (or other hairstyle) anymore. It is only messy. What is the use of the most expensive clothes, when she seems to put no attention to her hair? Far from regal!
DeleteAs for the colours: I like these strong, lively colours and I also like the combination.
Royalty fan
DeleteYes Coralie, I very much agree with you, there were times when her hair were styled beautiful, all the "messiness?" kept at bay by pins. Remember when they went to [was it Ireland], her bun on one side, her hair nice and smooth. Looked so professional! And MarigoldB, I think your comment is hilarious, seeing that it never looks as if Harry owns a comb. And that beard, oh, that beard
What a beautiful colour combination on Meghan. Today my compliments are for the prince who looks neatly groomed and well put together (like a married man who gets the once over before they leave the house). Cute couple.
ReplyDeleteYes, Prince Harry does look really great here.
DeleteToo many strong colors together . Red is too red and purple is too purple.
ReplyDeleteDress with the split doesn't go well with the coat.
She has good taste in handbags.
ReplyDelete🤔 the bag doesn't works for me with this ensemble. And I am freezing looking at her bare legs. If it is so cold she wears wool coat why doesn't she wear thighs?!? Winter upstairs and summer downstairs? Otherwise I like her outfit. I had nearly as big bumps as this at six months pregnant so I think it is okay (just remember Mila Kunis-she was a huge bump at 9 months!). Her hand cradling constantly and always her bump (and Harry) that is more interesting to me. But it is up to her.
ReplyDeleteWhen you look at the pictures in the Daily mail, you see that the Duchess is not wearing pantyhose. I wonder why doesn't she. At her hew position she is supposed to follow protocol. It is a matter of being polite and appropriate, even in summer. It is a celebrity thing to go out with nude legs even in winter, but for the officials (royals as well) glamour is an additional bonus, not the main message. It is an official even, after all.
ReplyDeletePantyhose are tacky, which is why she isn't wearing them. Even Diana would go without at times, at the end. Think about how long ago that was. It has also been established, well established, that there is no protocol regarding pantyhose. It is not a celebrity thing to go without hose. I am not a celebrity and I don't wear them. They are for old ladies and the fashion-challenged where I live.
DeleteTotally agree with you, I quit wearing panty hose years ago, only in the last couple of years I have gone back to opaque thighs in winter( when strictly necessary) simply because my legs are starting to show the ravages of time😜 I still manage to go bare in the summer with a good bronzer that covers imperfections.
DeleteI love the color combination, and the dress is very flattering as well as the shoes. I do not like this bag at all, and I think she would look a million times better with an A line coat, specially designed for the bump, this one belted above the belly, looks awkward and breaks the silhouette. Love the hair, and I won't even address the ridiculous comments about size, and cradling the baby.

DeleteThere is NO protocol Marina. This is not true and has been stated repeatedly.
DeleteI beg to disagree. No matter what we do in our personal lives, there is such thing as a protocol for official engagements. It covers the attire for the participants of official events, escpecially for those, who participate in their official capacities. Ask anyone from the dimplomatic circles. Bare legs are for the evening dresses worn with open-toe sandals.
DeleteThe red and purple color combo have both already been worn by Diana and the Queen - and done better.
ReplyDeleteShe appears to have wanted to answer the criticism that she never wears color all at once!
ReplyDeleteWow, wonderful colors at last, and she looks great in them! I am glad the front slit on the dress has been shortened and wish her hair was neater. Harry looks super these days.
ReplyDeleteI really like the colour of the dress, that violet is a very nice colour. But the shape of the dress is not nice. I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteI really love the coat, this is a very nice one and the colour is an eye-catcher.
I don't like the shoes, they look 'cheap' (a german cheap what means a combination of cheap and bought from people without sense of style).
The combination of dress and coat is just horrible *gwahgwahgwah*
Awful! really, really bad.
And I really don't like the bag, it looks strange to me.
that belly-holding all the time is really annoying. it's not just belly-holding, for me it looks like a selfish 'all eyes on me'-grabbing for attention and removes the focus completly from the occasion.
ReplyDeleteIn some pictures in the DM you can clearly see the outline of the child lying almost horizontally across her middle. They do move around at unexpected moments. From personal experience, uncomfortable. Stop projecting your feelings, or do not look. Her pregnancy,..her way!
DeleteBeing very small, and having such rapid changes to the body plus an active baby can be very uncomfortable. I experienced something similar. Some pregnant women have good days and bad days, others are sick or uncomfortable the entire pregnancy. Imagine having to go out on public appearances, looking "perfect" (whatever that means to each person looking at you).
DeleteNo one has a right to judge her. Not one of us are in her place.
Ok look I am 5'7 and weighed 116 with my kids x3. They were all but babies. 8 and 9 lbs. All 23 -24 inches long. I looked just like her. Huge. Looked way beyond my weeks along. I was underweight at start and big babies. The weight was much on my small frame too. I was always holding it up. Just felt dragged down with the bowling ball. Everyone is different. She is tiny framed. Just look at her legs and arms. Tiny. She is lean all over. I am not surprised my her look.
ReplyDeleteI also love the color!
Yay for her
Harry looks so happy
I wonder why she don't wear any stockings, its quite cold already. Maybe it's a protest to Royal rules ?
ReplyDeleteNo rules about hose. This has been stated repeatedly.... these are made up rules by the press. For story so that ppl can ask why she doesn't or any of them dont wear hose. There is no rule. Ask Victoria Arbiter or Pat Treble or Marlene Koenig or Omid Scobie. They are the experts and they all say this is not true.
DeleteThey are a very attractive couple. That is why there are many bitter people who comment .. they are misrable in their lives and project it on strangers. Hope these parents to be get not too much hurted.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you said this. The mean-spirited commenters don't stop to think about how much harm it could be doing to Harry and Meghan, the extended family, and of course what the added stress could be doing to Meghan's pregnancy.
DeleteWow! When she decides to do colour she really goes for it.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks fabulous. Love the two colours together, I love the styles of both dress and coat and the shoes are just fantastic.
The only jarring note for me is the bag - the style is interesting but I don't think this brown works. Black or even red or purple might have worked better.
But anyway, I adore this look!!!
Fully agree!
DeleteI agree Franny! This combination looks amazing on her.
DeleteI don't like the red shoes. Coat would've been better in a darker purple without a belt, paired with black or dark purple shoes.
ReplyDeleteSo basically, lose the red.
DeleteI like the coat, the color is great but I don't care for the dress, the style or the color. And her hair is more of the same. I'm amazed she can walk in such high heels, it seems out of balance with her pregnancy bump, but I think they are more for looks than for comfort.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! Knew she would look fantastic in colour. This is amazing. I love the red coat, and apart from in the first photo I think it looks smart tied properly rather than "hingin" (to use a good Scots word!) The dress is amazing. What a beautiful colour. And I would happily wear those 👠 For this I can forgive the messy hair (she looked so good last week with tidy hair) and the bump clutching (the comment by Fred Viret is spot on!). Well done, D of S, you've made my day.
ReplyDeleteFunny, bright colours, suiting her very well!!
ReplyDeleteI dislike the bag, and I am freezing to see her bare legs: a Royal Duchess, in January and a future Mum who should care for her health. Not good at all in my humble opinion, neither stylish.
And maybe she is getting Twins, always holding her bump? Time until April? For her first pregnancy she looks rather much closer to the birth date...
Netherteless, I wish them all the best and much LOVE!
Love these colors together! Deep violet and rich red are fabulous and share a blue base. The 12th photo of Meghan is gorgeous. Great heels in great color. They both look wonderful. Harry seems calmer and more content than I have ever picked up in past pictures.
ReplyDeleteMe encanta la combinación de colores (ya la uso Lady Di),y sus zapatos, y el vestido no llega a los creo 69E
ReplyDeletey el tapado también es barato...
So disappointed!!!😱😱😱
ReplyDeletePlease hire professional stylist!!
Gabriella, yesterday you were making comments about her not having a bump and today you say she may be carrying an elephant??? really? I guess you always find something to a thread of gossip.. SMH!!
ReplyDeleteVery smart and funny observation. It just shows that we should not judge any woman's shape during pregnancy.
DeleteJust as I always observe about Gabriella. She rarely has anything kind to say.
DeleteShe looks great, love the shoes! Lovely colors, but not together... It is too much for my eyes
ReplyDeleteShe looks so sweet. She dresses so well. They are such a lovely couple. Now they are going to have their first child. Please, be respectful. I hope she doesn't ever come across this site and read those horrible comments. If a baby is expected in April, that makes her mother 7 months pregnant now. A pregnancy is 40 weeks long.
ReplyDeleteI think because she is normally so tiny, she is showing quickly. I don’t think there are twins or an elephant as someone referenced. I know that was not meant to be literal but as a small person myself, I can say that I showed almost immediately with my pregnancies and had normal sized babies. I think she looks great and this pregnancy seems to be going along well without slowing her down. She is fortunate in that respect.
ReplyDeleteThey are hoping for a baby.
Deletesonnenkringel, you made me laugh!
DeleteUnderstand Meghan's color combo is trying to make the effort to copy & memorize her late mother-in-law, who went to visit Taj Mahal and wore the similar color combo. However, if Meghan really wanted to copy, please make sure to copy it right. Today's color combo is horrible.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree!!
DeleteMemorialize..This colour combination is a staple in India. Red + blue +purple so the colours are in the same family. Diana did not invent it. ..and what would be the right way to 'copy' it?
DeleteWarum muss sie ständig so krampfhaft ihren Bauch halten ??
