On January 16, 2019, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the London premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s 'Totem' at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Their attendance is for a charity gala supporting Sentebale, Prince Harry's organization supporting children affected by HIV in Lesotho, Botswana, and Malawi. (The Duchess of Sussex wore a Roland Mouret sequined gown for the evening, paired with a Givenchy satin clutch, black heels, and one of Princess Diana's gold cuff bracelets). |
What a gorgeous woman. Beautiful glowing skin, warm sparkling eyes. Sapphire blue is a great color for her and showcases the gold and sapphire bracelet. Harry also looks terrific--elegant suit and tie ---and healthy and fit.
ReplyDeleteAgree, Meghan took note by Princess Victoria wearing the dress in 2011.
DeleteMeghan looks really beautiful, nice dress and good makeup for evening.
ReplyDeleteBest pregnancy look yet! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteMuy fina y elegante
ReplyDeleteMeghan looks stunning! The deep navy color is beautiful on her. Her hair and makeup are perfect. How wonderful that she is able to wear Diana's bracelet again.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - beautiful dress and lovely hair and make up.
ReplyDeleteI love everythinh here, she looks radiant. How beautiful pregnant woman can be really.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful and the dress is great. But p l e a s e: she should refrain from this constant reference to her pregnancy belly. Otherwise the appearence of the two is not as annoying as at the beginning.
ReplyDeleteMonty, you are absolutely right as for the belly - but I am afraid you will be accused of being a "hater" now...
DeleteMeghan looks great here, very elegant, very ladylike! Good hairstyle (finally not messy at all) and beautiful make-up.
Agree 100%. Dress, make up, hair accessories are all fantastic and I would certainly count it as one of her best evening outfits. I really try to look beyond the belly clutching but it sets my teeth on edge every time (this is nothing to do with age, nationality, race, status, religion etc etc). Other pregnant royals in the UK and abroad have managed to endure pregnancy without this. However, back to the positive. Fabulous outfit and I also hope we see it repeated.
DeleteMonty, my opinion, too, I also wait for the people who *fight* for her, like in the last post *ggg*
DeleteI work with pregnant women every day at work *nurse in a clinic for gynecology and obstretrics* and no, it's not a usal thing to hold belly so excessive all the time.
But I guess, she won't give us a break xD :-)
I agree with you. You are not haters. Everyone is so scared to be judged.
DeleteShe is looking lovely. Stylish cut it fits in a way that flatters her perfectly.
ReplyDeleteAgree that Prince Harry is looking handsome and healthy as well.
Pregnancy seems to be a taboo, whether poor or rich, black or white in the beginning we are all human. (Sorry about my English)
So, when someone says that Meghans constant belly-touching is getting on their nerves, that means "pregnancy is a taboo"...? Honestly?? And no, it is NOT about black or white. It's about fulfilling a role properly, about taking a job seriously, about taking people seriously. That's all.
Delete@Coralie I appreciate your detailed statement. Sorry about my English, it was/is not so easy to express thoughts. Actually there is a reason for everything in my humble opinion. I was thinking about the reason for keeping the belly. There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of..and in some respects pregnancy or what is related to it, is taboo. For example the childbirth..
DeleteThe way the gown bunches below the bosom makes it look somewhat ill-fitting. Too bad, because it is a beautiful gown and I hope we will see it again on Meghan when she is back to her pre-pregnancy shape.
ReplyDeleteNice clutch evening bag and classic, elegant hairstyle.
Ill-fitting, yes, the entire upper portion of the dress is far too big. You can see it especially im the shots when she is sitting, there is far too much loose fabric around the arms. This is because she chose not to wear a maternity or bespoke gown, instead a designer gown many sizes too large. A poor choice, in my opinion.
DeleteSorry, but she looks like a drag queen.
ReplyDeleteNot becouse she is pregnent, cause we now that by this time, but the dress and that hair so tight that makes her face look like....well not the best I can say.She has a different style than any royal and thank God that it was Harry who meet her and not William.
She's not William's type so they wouldn't have married, let alone dated. Meghan seems to need and enjoy the attention, Kate seems happy to play a more supportive role. Kate will make an excellent queen consort some day.
DeleteI agree.
DeleteMina, I don't even know how to reply to the drag queen comment. It is so out of line. You don't have to like her fashion, but name calling?
Delete"She has a different style than any royal " Thank God she has, it would be tiring to see nothing but the repetition of Kates or Sophies style, or Annes, or Eugenies or Beatrices.......
DeleteBeth, I think so too. I really like Meghan's own style and she hopefully will not change that.
DeleteShe already shown that she can fit in if it is necessary and she does it with class and elegance.
DeleteWOW.... just wow.
DeleteYes, Mina she does look like a drag queen.
DeleteThe more I see the duchess of Sussex and her look at me belly grabbing, the nore I appreciate the duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex discrete demeanor.
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with you, Her belly hugging is getting to much
DeleteTotally agree! She looks great, more confident than Kate, but this touching is annoying. It's like she wants attention. That's sooo american..
DeleteWow, Lassie - do you have to use someone's nationality as a criticism?
DeleteClassic english rose versus american showgirl.
DeleteWhat does being American have to do with it? Bad form, Lassie and Coralie. Bad form.
DeleteChardonn8r, what I want to say has nothing to do with a persons passport or place of birth. I want to say that "english rose" is a concept like "american showgirl", it is a certain way of appereance and behaviour. You probably have heared the terms "all american girl" or "deutsches Fräuleinwunder", that is something similar. I my dancing club for example there is a lovely young lady from Poland who lives in Germany for quite a long time now - and she describes herself as a "deutsches Fräulein" (with a modern vibe of course!) because she likes that concept.
DeleteI have watched a lot of shows in America and always admired the showgirls for their very professional dancing, and singing, and acting, and smiling, and clothes, hair, make-up... Absolutely great for the audience! (And I am sure not all of them are born in the States or have a US-passport.) But this is a concept that is ill-matched with such a traditional institution like british monarchy. On the other hand, a lady you would describe as a "classic english rose" would be a mismatch in an american show, wouldn't she? I hope I could explain it - it is about a cultural prototype, not about passport or nationality.
I think you are wrong Coralie. First, Meghan does not represent the concept of the 'All american girl' or the 'American Showgirl'or whatever you want to tell us. If at all, she represents the concept of the smart cosmopolite working girl, with great ethics, a good heart, a keen mind and a modern urban chique. What is this talking about an'English Rose'? Even Diana was not only an'English Rose', in her later years, which means when she was about the age Meghan has now, she was more of an eccentric Diva, who knew very well how to play the game.
DeleteSecond, you are saying, Meghan does not match "with such a traditional institution like british monarchy". Who says that? Even the british monarchy will change in the 21st century. When the time has come for William to take the crown, things will have changed. I personally think that Harry has found in Meghan the best possible spouse for the years to come, which will be years of change. Even for the British monarchy. I think he did well to choose an 'urban working girl', with years of experience on the international field, in showbusiness, yes, representing the Royal House is sometimes like showbusiness, who is used to cameras, who is confident enough, to meet and greet people of all kinds and able to hold a public speech without ending up in a nervous break-down. These are all things people are critisizing her for, I say good for her. You go girl! I wish both Harry and Meghan nothing but the best. May they stay strong together. Standing in the lime light, being ripped in parts by the media every single day, for nothing!, you need nerves like wire ropes. Good for her, that she is strong. An english rose would have be broken by now.
Coralie, calling Meghan a "showgirl" is saying she is a chorus girl or an exotic dancer. I would love to give you the benefit of the doubt and think that you didn't know exactly what you were saying, but I can't. Many months ago, you had some comments about Meghan deleted. There was name calling involved, and I challenged you. I know this is true because my comments challenging what you said were deleted as well. I am not sure why you have a prejudice against Meghan, but maybe you could try doing what all well brought up children have been taught..."If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all".
DeleteI don't even know what an "English" Rose is supposed to be when referring to the BRF. They have nationalities from all over Europe in their lineage. I would rather focus on the fact that she is a good person, and was long before she met Harry and married into the BRF.
Beth and chardonn8r: well said, thank you
DeleteBeth, I like your "concept of the smart cosmopolite working girl" - I don't know if there exists already a figure of speech for that kind of woman, but considering globalisation and the growing role of women in the world (Nobelprize to Malala Yousafzai, Nobelprize to Nadia Murad/Denis Mukwege) I think sooner or later there will be one!
DeleteBut I disagree as for Diana. I don't think she was an eccentric diva - I think she was simply immature. And don't underestimate the english roses, they can withstand a lot of distress. (I did not know that expression myself until I learned it on Daily Mail and I like it, it sounds so romantic, but then I even like "Little-house-in-the-prairie-dresses").
Chardonn8r and everyone else ignore Lassie. This person has always been nasty on this blog. It disappears and then returns. Don't even engage with the person. That usually drives it away. Whoever it is hates pretty much everyone but there own words. Ignore.
DeleteThinking Coralie is just about in that league now too. The nastiness has no place here.
Ignore them ladies and gents...if se engage we feed their ugly words and they love that! Ignore their comments. All of them.
Diane, thanks for the heads up on Lassie. I have has Coralie's number for some time.
DeleteYes, Sakurahime. It gives many of us such an appreciation for Catherine and Sophie.
DeleteThe more I see the duchess of Sussex and her look at me belly grabbing, the nore I appreciate the duchess of Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex discrete demeanor.
ReplyDeleteDiscreet....inaccurate criticism. The perfect one spent many months out of sight because of illness and maternity leave. This one is actually working. The photogs choose those moments to create a desired effect..and the lemmings.
DeleteThe gown is pretty, but she shouldn't wear this kind of makeup. It seems just doesn't match the gown.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks amazing. She can wear her hair pulled back like this and it looks beautiful as does her makeup. The color of her gown is lovely on her and I think this may be one of her best looks.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Linda
DeleteJe la trouve ravissante et surtout, radieuse!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of her maternity style most of the time, but this is a really, really fantastic style, she looks fab!
ReplyDeleteWhat's that on her forehead in photo 8, where she looks 8 months pregnant?
ReplyDeleteA shadow, it continuous to Harry´s jacket.
DeleteThe black line goes across Prince Harry also so it must be something wrong with the photo
DeleteIt's a shadow from a rope (it was a Cirque du Soleil performance, remember?) thrown also across Prince Harry's jacket. Nothing to worry about. You can also see it in the next picture, but there it shows on the people seated behind them because the Duke and the Duchess are not standing any longer but sit.

ReplyDeleteAlways glad when you post these articles.
DeleteThank you chardonn8r 😊
DeleteJust trying to end the ongoing breaking protocol comments.

DeleteI want to like this dress, but this is not a maternity dress and it shows. The fabric bunches up over her belly and is distracting. Why not take advantage of her accessibility to designers and have bespoke maternity wear or buy maternity dresses that fit her well instead if just sizing up a dress she likes.
ReplyDeleteYou are exactly right
DeleteThere goes Gabriella..... always uplifting and respectful SMH!!
ReplyDeleteMina, writing sorry before you insult a person, it's not acceptable. Your comment is appalling, maybe just a reflection of yourself?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. The duchess looks fabulous.
DeleteMagnifique futur maman ......
ReplyDeletewell meghan is not calling for any attention nor camera whoring, she has that natural star quality and shes very attractive!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteCoralie, your prejudices against Meghan are tremendous. I hope you are aware of it. Happy to see that most of us do not share your opinion.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Unknown .
DeleteSome people don't like Meghan no matter what she wears and how beautiful she looks.
Unknown and Anonymous, if you post statements like that, sign with your name, please. And no, I don't have many prejudices. I work in large global teams and have to do with very many people from many parts of the world. I've experienced it several times that collegues - male and female - from Israel and Palestina sit peacefully side by side, developing software, and when it's time for lunch they sit peacefully side-by-side and have lunch together (I wish politicians learned from that!) And why does it work? Because we have a common denominator: job role first.
DeleteWhen Meghan dresses and hairstyles according to her role (and she can do so, she has proven more than once) I appreciate that. If not, I feel free to mention that.
Not liking Meghan's fashion joices is one thing. But calling her an American showgirl is just upsetting and proves that you know little or nothing about this smart woman. And it's not the first time you are insulting her.
DeleteKiki
@ Coralie, we are here to comment about fashion and that is all. Other comments about Meghan just keep to yourself!
DeleteMs anonym Anonymous, then write about fashion and keep comments about me to yourself!
Delete@Unknown Kiki: you are wrong. "American showgirl" is no insult at all (see my other post)
No, Coralie, you are wrong. You do not know the definition of "showgirl". You are insulting her. "A showgirl is a female dancer or performer in a stage entertainment show intended to showcase the performer's physical attributes, typically by way of revealing clothing or even toplessness or nudity." Think Las Vegas.
Deletechardonn8r: Thank you. My thoughts exactly.
DeleteI agree with everyone ....except Coralie. Coralie you are very clear on your dislike of Meghan. You can try to rationalize it all you want but underneath it all is a very muddy smutty conment. You dislike her. Fine. So why not say nothing. Your words are 95% personal attacks and not about fashion.
DeleteOwn it.
Beautiful Meghan! Fashionwise her whole apperance here is a win, dress, hair, make-up, attitude. Superb! I like it a lot. The dress style and the deep blue glittering color suit Meghan so well. The U Boat neckline works for Meghan. That's why she wears it quite often. The split is not too long, just to show a little bit of skin. Her legs look great in these Weitzman sandals, which fit perfectly with the style of the dress. Her ankles are slender, not even a bit swollen. When I was 6 months pregnant I could not have walked on these fragile sandals with almost zero strap support.
ReplyDeleteShe looks fantastic in these pictures. Beautiful, confident, happy and glowing. In my eyes, from a fashion point of view, there is nothing to citizise with this look.
Ayayay Coralie!! It seems to me that you like to delve into things that have very little to do with a forum targeting fashion, and I get that impression because I frankly get lost reading your comments. It's irrelevant as to whether this woman is American, maybe because it is sort of ridiculous to encompass an entire country into one person.
ReplyDeleteI would like to give an example, let's say that I am giving an opinion on Maxima's outfit, here it goes.
1: I don't particularly like this color, and the fabric seems a little too shiny for a morning event, in mi opinion the cut does not flatter her figure, nice shoes, and hat.
2: I think she looks terrible, maybe because she likes to be the center of attention, probably because she is not European, I think she shouldn't wear all that jewelry it's just too ostentatious, and her smile looks fake.
See the difference in the comments? #1 is about fashion, whereas # 2 is just a judgement of character about a person that you know nothing about, but for some reason doesn't fit into what you consider unworthy of her role.
It is just wrong.......
Perfect, Cherry Blossom!
DeleteCherry Blossom, I admit that I don't know much about fashion, but I like looking at pictures with people dressed up. Every now and then I have to dress up myself, because me and other members of the team are invited to festive events (with clients), so I even own two evening gowns! On this blog I simply describe my perception of the royal ladies and find it interesting to read the sometimes very detailed comments on hemlines and cleavages and clutch versus handbag and so on. And I am quite sure that nobody of those royal ladies read this blog!
DeleteCoralie, obviously you are missing the point, or maybe you don't even realize that some of your comments are demeaning, I am sure Meghan doesn't read these blogs, it's the same concept as when one gossips about friends behind their backs, it is not kind and reflects poorly on you. On the other hand your activities with clients, work etc. are simply the same as ours , and since we are private people, they aren't of much interest.
Delete👏👏👏👏👏👏Cherry Blossom! Spot on!!!
DeleteCherry Blossom read my words above. Just stop engaging with Coralie and Lassie. Both of them want the fight. There is nothing they are enjoying more than watching is all jump to Meghan's defense so they can tear her down more or bash Americans (Lassies fav). Attempts to compare it to her own work life is ridiculous. Just let them spill their view and don't give them the food to keep talking. I do not engage much anymore because they have taken the fun away. This blog is becoming much more about everything else BUT fashion. The only way to end that is to stop responding to to them. If no one acknowledges them they will go away.
DeleteDiane, Amen!!!
DeleteDiane, it is not my intetion to fight. I just don't understand how anyone can get so upset just because someone else says "I find XYs appereance inappropriate for a royal".
DeleteCherry Blossom, you might be right when you say that I miss the point. Probably I regard other aspects of the topic as being "the point". Still I see no need to fight here.
Relax, Ladies. No need for negative mood.
Beautiful inside and out. Personally I find Meghan's obvious joy in her pregnancy delightful.
ReplyDeleteMe too. It may be her only pregnancy and so why shouldn't she just do as she pleases. Hold the bump all you want!! I would be more concerned if she was indifferent to the pregnancy. Her joy makes me smile.
DeleteSo true, Cherry Blossom!
