The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay visited The Fife Arms in Braemar

On January 11, 2019, The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay visited The Fife Arms in Braemar, Aberdeenshire, to mark the inn’s re-opening. The Fife Arms in Braemar is being sensitively restored and returned to its former splendour as a first class hotel. The building is a significant landmark in the scenic village famed for the Braemar Gathering annual highland games, the Cairngorms National Park and its Royal Deeside connections. Dating back to 1856, The Fife Arms is located in the village of Braemar, home of the Highland Games.

There's a whole lot of plain going on in that room! LOL! Or should I say, tartans. Love it!! I've always wanted a genuine kilt and I've also wanted to try my hand at making one. My understanding is, if you do it correctly it's one continuous piece of cloth. Fantastic.

Everything looks nice in these photos: his outfit, her outfit, the tartans, the wooly sporran in the second photo and the beautiful venue, especially the dining room in the last photo with the sparkling light fixture. Very nice.

  6. Prince Charles looks absolutely great in a kilt; not all men do. That has to be a nice thing for him in his job; I imagine that some fellows hate the way they look in a kilt, which would make these particular engagements an ordeal for them.

  7. Well, Camilla is back then on the screen. They had much fun.-
Fashionwise it is wonderful to see that good crafted traditional Tweeds and Tartans still exist, made in U.K.. Nether out of Fashion!

Not about traditional tartans here . I think tartans is fantastic, but why Camilla always looks pale and unhealthy ? Maybe it s because of her makeup or the dull colors of her usual outfits!

    1. Prince Charles is wearing a Stuart tartan dating from the 18th century. Not sure about Camilla but it may be the Balmoral tartan. So both traditional royal tartan.

I don't think Camilla always looks pale and unhealthy - I can't see her well enough in these particular photos to see what you mean.

    2. Anonymous at 1.38 PM: Pale and unhealthy? I really can't agree. And don't forget, she is not a Teen anymore(her complexion). B.t.w.: Scots do have some attractive men too, shaking Prince Charles' hands, ha ha!

Je suis toujours émerveillée par le port du Kilt du Prince Charles qui respecte ses traditions !

  12. I think Camilla would have looked better in a plainer outfit with something added in the same tartan as Charles. Her plaid suit clashes, and then there's a scarf that clashes with everything. Too much.

  13. I quite like Camilla´s outfit and yes she was ill and couldn´t join the service (christmas). All the best for her.
