On January 10, 2019, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium held the annual New Year's reception for the leaders of the European institutions based in Brussels, the permanent representatives accredited to the European Union, and the foreign diplomats and chiefs of mission (ambassadors and consuls) accredited in Brussels at Royal Palace. I like the colours and the pattern of this dress and it looks very beautiful on her. But I don't like the cut; the fabric looks stiff and makes her look bigger than she is. Nice combined with the golden shoes though!
ReplyDeleteEndlich mal wieder ein Kleid mit einer für Mathilde passenden Länge.
ReplyDeleteAlthoug silver and blue are flattering colours for Q.M. this dress, may be because of the cut or the sleeves, ages her.
ReplyDeleteexactly my thoughts! I love the fabric and these colours look really pretty on her, but if the sleeves where a little more narrow, it might have looked better.
DeleteLengths OK, high of the waist not so. The fabric is nice, the accessoires too.
ReplyDeleteVery nice brocade dress a very nice color. Mathilde looks very good, love her hair up.
ReplyDeleteAgree.
DeleteFully agreed. Lovely lady! So dignified and warm at the same time.

Wow the woman in the grey suit
ReplyDeleteSeems rather ill-fitted to me (her grey suit). Could have been taken in at the waist.

I meant the woman, not the suit, which seems too big. She is very good looking.
DeleteI like everything about this outfit--the colours and cut of the dress are lovely--Mathilde seems to favour higher waists on many of her outfits--for all you young things, believe me as one gets older it can be comfortable and more flattering than a waistline on the waist. Like the shoes, bag and hair also.
ReplyDeleteI am not a "young thing" (dislike labels) either. But I disagree. I do not find higher waistlines comfortable esp when you sit down. I do not find them flattering unless one is pregnant. If one has a fuller figure and does not want to emphasize the waist, a straight dress is a good option. Mathilde however, has a nice figure and would look better in dresses that have a waistline at the waist Imo.
DeleteOh no, not another year of dresses with flowers. Please make them go away. :)

DeleteI for one love flowerprints and I do admit I like lot of what is called "Little-house-in-the-prairie"-dresses here!
And a big NO again. Beautiful fabrics, but the style makes her older than her years. Pity.
ReplyDeleteQue gran REINA, es muy elegante me gusta su peinado, vestido, y muy especialmente su sonrisa
ReplyDeleteShe always dress not for her age.
ReplyDeletePerhaps she is what they call "an old soul" ?
ReplyDeleteJo, everything is possible, I totally agree.
ReplyDeleteWell she looks like a queen . Isn't that enough ?
