Belgian Royal family, that is, King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and their children Crown Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore visited Egypt in order to spend their Christmas holiday together and see historical and cultural assets of country. During their stay, the Belgian royal family visited the Philae Temple, the High Dam, the Temple of Kom Ombo, the Temple of Edfu and the ancient Egyptian kings’ tombs at the Valley of the Kings. They also visited the Valley of the Queens’ tombs that included Nefertari’s tomb, the famous Habu’s temples at western Luxor. |
Beautiful place to spend the holidays. The Belgian royal family all look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteMathilde is a very well dressed tourisy
ReplyDeleteWhat a great vacation. Such a lovely family. Im very jealous they got a personal tour by Zahi Hawass, great opportunity for learning.
ReplyDeleteWell, the kids do not look very interested at all. And I doubt if this is a beautiful place to spend Christmas vacation in our times. But I bet they are not at a cheap mass-accomodation.
DeleteBeautiful colours and look for the Queen!
Such a nice family, no dramas. Makes you sort of wonder if the siblings are always so loving towards each other all the time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice holiday in Egypt. Of course Family togetherness. Everyone looks lovely.
ReplyDeletePrivate guides, special sites to visit, and they don't get jam-packed into ordinary tourist buses. Must be nice.
ReplyDeleteYes, as I remarked before. So very true.
DeleteThey are just so unmistakably European old money
ReplyDeleteWho is that woman with yellow coat, she seems to be important part of the group?
ReplyDeleteSalima Ikram - one of the best egyptologist in the field
DeleteHow lovely - what an interesting break and nice to have a bit of sunshine. Lucky that they can have the guides and a more personalised visit. I do like the Queens coat.
ReplyDeleteLovely family. Yes, European old world money, but, more importantly, European old world class. Not all people will have class, dignity and deep kindness. That’s what shines through every time we see this family.
ReplyDeleteLily
Like the "old money" from Leopold I.? The Belgian royals were alway very keen on Egyptology, by the way.
