    2. I, as probably MaryT too, know Queen Silvia has talked about and been deeply committed in subjects like traffing, incest and dementia - years before other royals… and they are still taboo subjects. I agree, QS is courageous !
There is another official photo of her together with the King… and she looks gorgeous, beautiful and warm smiling, as we have known her since 1976.

    3. Taboo subjects by whom and where?

    4. I fully agree with the reasons for courage given by An12.16, but I had also in mind the difficult years the couple experienced when the king had an affair and doubtful relationship; these were not just press gossiping by admitted by the king himself. She always continue to fulfill her tasks and engagements with dignity and courage yes. The king not being very popular in his country, part of the press also criticised her for her German origin, her insufficient knowledge of Swedish. All this is very mean. I think this may be convincing enough.

Geburtstag...Schade.

  5. I think Silvia looks great for 75. She's a beautiful woman and seems kind.
I do wonder if she'll ever stop dying her hair completely brown and embrace her natural grey hairs.
She's probably afraid it'll make her look older.

    1. Thank you, Blair, I've thought the same thing for years about Silvia. Not ever have I seen gray roots on her, she must have constant touch-ups. Gray hair can be beautiful and softening to the face. Women color their hair but still have wrinkles on the face and neck. We go lighter as we age. Queens Elizabeth and Margrethe look good. And I love my gray hair!

    2. Agree , also Queen Sonja of Norway has her hair colored and never grey .

    3. Bravo to Silvia for beautiful, brown hair. As a woman over 50 with grey hair coming on I hope to be able to follow her example to keep my hair looking its original brown shade.

    4. I agree with Anon 11:24. She doesn't have to go grey if she doesn't want to. We can see she is aging by her face and her choice of clothes. I have no intention of letting my grey take over either.

    5. Why to look older when you can look younger. Grey hair makes face look much older. My grandmother is 84 and still goes to beauty salon to color her hair.

  11. Congratulations Queen Silvia! Nice photos, but they have sadly been heavily retouched.

    1. They are not heavily retouched but post-processed normally, as any portrait photograph should be. Also the lighting affects the portrait and here the photographer has succeeded well in that respect too.
