I am not spanish (but I love Spain), but I think this outfit has a "Carmen"- or "Flamenco"-vibe, hasn't it? She looks great!
ReplyDeleteFlamenco only in Andalucía, the rest of the country is not fond of it. So I don't really know.
Deleteits been a year of bonding with the mother-in-law- good for them
Deletehowever mother-in-law wore this dress better with accessories and neutral bag and shoes.
Not true, Flamenco music and dance is not only popular in Andalucía, a large part of the population enjoys this type of art, obviously nowadays the younger generation not so much, but alas that happens in every country, as we all have become more global, not only in music and traditional folklore but fashion as well.
DeleteI am not from Andalucía, but from Castille, and I can assure that we do like flamenco in my neck of the woods.
Flamenco is no only in Andalucia, is a part of our culture wether you like it or not. In fact the best academies of flamenco( cante jondo and dancing) are not only in Andalucia, also inCataluña and Madrid.
DeleteReally?? Where and who listen to flamenco nowadays? I am 49 and not even mi generation...imagine my children...
DeleteAnd all the North part hates it. It is not part of all the country, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, The Basques,La Rioja Navarra, Aragon, hates it...it is part of the time of the dictatorship..
The modern Spain is to the back theeth of being related with that, the bull fights and flamenco. Spain is not that..And it not part of all the country, many people hates it.
DeleteTime to stop botox and fillers, her skin looks so strange.
ReplyDeleteI agree
The only fashion related things in the pictures.
DeleteI think she is beautiful. It is possible to have radiant, youthful looking skin by using excellent skincare. We know she takes care of her body by working out. It is not too much of a stretch to think she takes excellent care of her skin as well.
DeleteBeautiful hair, outfit and shoes. Great!
ReplyDeleteLetizia in red!
DeleteNice of her to rewear her mom-in-law’s dress. It’s very 80s but her frames lets her pull it off. It’s still a pair of red shoes too many.
ReplyDeleteLovely Leti...
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks wonderful. Red is definitely her colour and the outfit isn't outdated! This "loan" is a proof that both Queens have and enjoy a good relationship.
ReplyDeleteAgree
DeleteWhat a lovely gesture and what an beautyful dress.
ReplyDeleteOh wow... now this is a surprise. I didn't think I'd see these two wear each others dresses but they did and looking very good! Both ladies look very nice wearing the same dress nearly 40 years apart. I like Letizia's curls. Suits her well.
ReplyDeleteMe gusta !
ReplyDeleteSo Letizia saw Victoria pull out one of Silvia's old dresses and thought she'd get in on the action, too! I love it. It's amazing how the dress still looks really current.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there's anything of Queen Elizabeth that Kate or Meghan could wear? I really like it when the current princess/queens go digging into the closets.
lol! That would be K and M's grandmother-in-law, not even mother. Other than jewellery, I doubt they'd find anything in her closet to interest them. (Unless a very chic couture evening gown from 50+ years ago is lurking somewhere in the back, but I don't think she used many (if any) famous name designers way back then, other than Hartnell or Kelly.)
DeleteShe wore another Sofía's dress last year too.
DeleteI can totally Kate or Meghan look stellar in some of The queen’s gowns. They were stellar looking with intricate beading. Each of them were masterpieces. Kate will also look good in some of the lacy dresses and coats
DeleteWow! Is that a reused dress?! Both Queens look stunning, today and 1980. BEAUTIFUL.
ReplyDeleteI personally don't like this dress at all, in 1980 or today, that being said and considering the decade, I like it better on Sofía, maybe because she accessorized it better by breaking all that red, although the jewelry it's not my favorite, I must say that the belt and shoes area good choice on her part. The gesture is nice and possibly conciliatory, so I give Letizia an A for effort, and for the gorgeous earrings and lovely hair.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Letizia!
ReplyDeleteRed is always a good idea for Letizia . Q Sofia wore this dress beautifully with accessory . In 1980 Sofia was 40 years old I think same age as her husband.
ReplyDeleteI had that same dress in 1986. It is a most flattering style. Love to see both queens wearing it!
Bravo.
Queen Sophia looks beautiful in this red dress. And her smile in the photo is amazing... I think the dress suits her better than on Letizia...
ReplyDeleteThis dress may have been the inspiration for the pink Varela of National Day. The idea may be to start some tradition during the festive season, but today's red dress is a No. Both this and the last dress from Sofia's closet look dated and belong in the year they were worn. QL looks thin and the puffy sleeves are loose. The skirt is too wide and too long. It's a fine thing to pay homage to Sofia but her creative twist to her outfits and her personality disappears in these clothes. The skirt may be salvageable with a black top attached to it like the Varela, and worn with the thin red belt and some chunky jewelry. Other than that the young consort doing reverences to the older consort....
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks nice, the color is great. Sorry but I liked this dress better on Sofia, OMO.
ReplyDeleteOoh I love this---on both Letizia and Sophia--perhaps the neckline could be lowered just a little--it's a little too tight round the throat, I think.
ReplyDeleteIt cost much more to wear those outfits in Sofia's day. (the king looked elegant also). It is said this is a Valentino.. and of course she brings elegance and distinction to all her fashion choices.
DeleteI'm probably the only one, but i really prefer to see the dress on Letizia.
ReplyDeleteI prefer because, for me, the necklace and bracelets was too much.
*Kristhy
I think it looks better on Letizia also. It has a better fit and love the red shoes!
DeleteLetizia’s face looks different? Change of makeup or hairstyle?
