On November 7, 2018, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended 'Noche De la Economia Valenciana' (Night of the Valencian Economy) in in Valencia. The 'night of Valencian economy' was held at the city's famous Palau de Les Arts. About 1,000 guests attended the event today including the mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribó , among others. Queen Letizia wore a black jumpsuit by HUGO BOSS. |
I hate jumpsuits, especially when a QUEEN wears it..
ReplyDeleteShe loves those shoes but they are horrible and look cheap
ReplyDeleteGreat event. Am I the only one who thinks this isn’t quite appropriate? Cleaveage is a little too deep, and whilst we all admire her arms, do they need to be so much on display? Mary, Kate and other royals have nice bodies, but I cannot imagine either of them wearing this as future queens. I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteDasy
This is Spain, her role is more as a Firs Lady than a "Queen".
DeleteI think it’s an unfair thing to say. Letizia is and always has been edgier in her choice of clothing than her royal counterparts and has the ability to look classy even in daring clothes by royal standards.
DeleteI agree with Anon 4:34. There is not a rule about how a queen should dress. She is a woman that dresses beautifully. I find Letizia polished and elegant. I am glad she enjoys fashion and does not feel she needs to dress for anyone elses expectations.
DeleteLetizia is the Queen, Kate and Marie, princesses in a kingdom where the Monarch is an old lady...time will tell..
DeleteLetizia looks wonderful. Love the bracelets.
ReplyDeleteI don´t mind the bare arms as such, but it´s not the right look for a november night. I don´t mind the cleavage either. But I do agree that this overall look is not quite appropriate. I blame the horrid shoes, and the fact that it´s a jumpsuit. Jumpsuits won´t ever pass as elegant in my world, no matter how much they try to glam them up.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I find this all-black look depressing, and I´m disappointed that black is a default-choice for most royals as soon as autumn starts (and for some year-round).
Letizia´s hair and make-up are wonderful in any case, looking effortlessly chic. She truly is a beautiful lady.
They are in Valencia, the autum is warm.
DeleteThis is peak Letizia brand of chic. I love this look. Fabulous jewellery.
ReplyDeleteA nice pair of high-heeled, black strappy evening sandals with some sparkle on them would have been better.

ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, today in Valencia... https://www.levante-emv.com/multimedia/fotos/economia/2018-11-06-142215-participa-ecofira.html
Here is proof that the queen's looks are analyzed, repeated, and increase the sales of Spanish fashion.
Elegant and edgy, just as Letizia loves it. But far from inappropriate.
ReplyDeleteWell said, totally agree. I also love the cuff bracelet, it is great!
DeleteWonderful tuxedo-look jumpsuit, beautiful shoes, perfect clutch... also perfectly coiffed hair and lovely makeup = a beautiful and regal Queen!
ReplyDeleteI like this look, but then, I am partial to jumpsuits, love them!! We have seen this one several times, and I still like it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the cleavage is too revealing, nothing to see there, and once again, low cut dresses have been used by the royalty throughout history, why are people all of a sudden deeming this practice inappropriate?
I also disagree with the concept that a sleeveless cocktail dress ( jumpsuit on this instance) it's not to be worn in November... so shall we wear a wool scarf and a knitted cap over a formal dress, because is winter?
What a concept!!
Love the earrings and the Cartier bracelets.
It would be an impossible outfit for ... so many women, but ok for Qn Letzia.
ReplyDeleteLes routurieres en bien réussis bravo mesdames ça sort de nul part et hop riene par si duchesse par ici princesse par là cela devient d’un ennuie !!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat, the cleavage too revelling? LOL! What a wonderful choice, I love jumpsuits too, like Cherry Blossom. This is so beatiful and sits perfect. Why not black, it is always a safe choice. Many colourful clothes look cheep even if they cost a fortune. A queen of today is a little bit different as a queen fom early nineteens. Nice shoes, perfect match.
ReplyDeleteI agree everything else, but the shoes are not my favorite. They are ok but could be even better. I think it's odd that people here seems to think that these young royals should use similar clothes than their over 70 years old colleagues.
DeleteI agree with both Zucchina and Anon 7:43. Great point that the same outfit in a different color can look cheap! So true! And please stop comparing the young royal's fashion choices to the older royal's choices. They should be different. Unbelievable that this has to be said.
Normally I'm not a fan of jumpsuits, but for me this one it's very simple, modern and suits perfect on her!
ReplyDeleteThe sleeveless it's normal, I think, if we notice on the second image appear other woman with a Balck&White dress also sleeveless.
The cleavage for me it's completely acceptable and the shoes, also for me, are Ok.
For me the only thing that I would prefer to see differently it's the jewels, they are amazing very, very beautiful but not at the same time.

I mean, it’s not the worst outfit she ever wore, but my two cents is that even if it fits well, it’s a red carpet look, rather than a royal outfit. Depends what you’re going for: the celebrity look or the regal one. She crosses the line every now and then. (I know that for some she can never do anything wrong, I can certainly hear the reaction before it’s written; I respect your personal perspective, but disagree - at times).
ReplyDeleteRoyal traditionalist
I agree
ReplyDeleteThe 'red carpet look' has often been used as a means of positioning Letizia among 'celebrities' as opposed to 'royals' as if celebrities are lesser beings. Many a royal has worn similar clothing without being given that honor. The ball gowns of the Swedes and the Dutch and the Danes at some ceremonies are red carpet worthy. Jenny Packham and others have created an empire because of Kate's looks, some of which are red carpet worthy. This is a basic black jumpsuit that should not attract attention. Letizia's looks, figure and close to the body garments are what generates the red carpet comments. The 35 year age difference between the two consorts who grew up in different countries, in different eras, has proven to be a difficult concept for some people to absorb. A closet full of 2 piece suits in every color of the rainbow is not a standard for'royal dressing' in the 21st century. Finally, why do we focus on what she does wrong? Many of her duties are done well and produce results, that can be included when reviewing her fashion.
ReplyDelete@AnonymousNovember 9, 2018 at 2:49 AM, very well said.
ReplyDeleteMe encanta, moderna, guapa, estilosa.
