On October 16, 2018, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a reception hosted by the Governor-General at Admiralty House in Sydney. The reception was attended by Australians from a broad range of sectors including charity, community, business, industry, arts, culture, sport and entertainment. The first day of Royal visit Australia concluded with an afternoon reception. (The Duchess wore a green maxi dress by US designer Brandon Maxwell. The Duchess wore Princess Diana’s gold and diamond butterfly earrings and bracelet on the first day of her Royal tour of Australia.) |
Oh I absolutely hate this dress. The cut is terrible eventhough you really can't see that too much here. I've seen other pictures of her from different angles and it is truly horrendous. If she has a stylist ??? I would think of firing her. It doesn't suit Meghan's body shape at all!!! I'm not even going to start to talk about the colour. Just a big fail IMO
ReplyDeletei agree but its kind of her preferred style; over sized and dark neutral colors. I like the red one that the model is wearing
DeletePlease don't shame her for the clothes or colours she wears. She has her own unique style. She looks lovely in the photos.
DeleteIt's a FASHION blog. The whole point IS to comment on clothes, colours, style! It is not a criticism of Meghan as a person. Similar comments are posted for the other royal ladies who have disappointing outfits/bad hair days. I agree wholeheartedly with the initial post and with Winnie. After the lovely white dress earlier today, this is a yeuchy dull colour (it looks so much better in red), the style doesn't look smart on her and the dress seems to be the wrong length for the shoes. She reminds me of a little girl dressed in her mother's clothes. Better luck tomorrow.
DeleteWhile the comment about having a stylist is a bit harsh, "voicing" one's opinion is not shaming, it is just their opinion and it is what this website is about.
Delete👍🏽👍🏽
DeleteYes this is a FASHION BLOG but is not what you say; it's how you say it. You can give constructive criticism of her fashion but the use of "horrendous " and fire her stylist is in my opinion shaming her.
DeleteMegan represents all women on the world stage and does a wonderful job. Give her a break. Keep your comments on a positive level!
Annie M I am not sure what "wrong length for the shoes" means.
DeleteThis is not negative or positive, just a fact, she does not represent me.
DeleteAnonymous (October 17 at 2:06), what do you mean with "Megan represents all women"? Does that apply to all the other royals to? Or only to Megan?
DeleteAnd have you read the commemts on Maximas outfit, especially her skirt? There are some comments (including mine) NOT "on a positive level". Do you allow that in case of Maxima (and Kate, Mary, Letizia...), but not in case of Megan?
I don't follow Maxima. But yes you can give positive criticism to each of the royals. I guess if one lives in a state of negativity ( not you personally) it comes out in every aspect of ones behaviour! I prefer to see my glass half full not half empty.
DeletePlease apologize if I repeat my comment, it came at the wrong place, it is intended to the colleague ANonym 16.10 2.05pm : I absolutely do not understand such a tough comment!! From what I can see from the duchess and from the model it is rather common design with a bit of creation in the design of the top. The colours are ok depending on the personality of the owner.
DeleteI think we need to express a negative comment LESS AGRESSIVELY. Have you already been told : I hate your dress??
MaryT The comments are worded so rudely sometimes because no one knows who they are. If they were face to face, I can only hope they would remember the manners they should have been brought up with and refrain from such appalling behavior.
DeleteOh I absolutely do not understand such a tough comment!! From what I can see from the duchess and from the model it is rather common design with a bit of creation in the design of the top. It fits correctly the duchess and the model. The colours are ok depending on the personality of the owner.
ReplyDeleteToo many pleats and too much fabric on a small frame. Color is fine but darker shoes would have been better.
ReplyDeleteNice and modern dress, lovely color.Suitable for Meghan and for the Australian trip.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the cut of the dress in the upper parts. It makes her look flat and a bit like a box. But the fact that she's wearing Dianas bracelet and earrings makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteI think that's a problem with how she dresses. She has a very boxy figure, (wide back/shoulders and hips) but her waist isn't distinguishable at all. If you look at her style from 2 years ago, you can see the way she poses, walks, and clothes she wears are geared to give the illusion of a waist. And by no means am I saying she's fat or needs to lose weight (specially now that she's pregnant), but it's going to be difficult to find women's clothing that fits her well. It's why I say she should have her clothes tailored for her figure, not just to fit her.
DeleteTotally agree. This dress is not for her due to her boxy figure. Meghan is great with the dress just like the 1st day she wore. Definitely not this style.
DeleteBoxy figure? Good Lord!!
DeleteOh BTW, in case you didn't know, one tends to lose one's waist when one is 3 months pregnant. It happens to the best of us :-)
DeleteCherry Blossom, Meghan's never had a defined waist. It's why I said to look back at her fashion choices from before her time with Harry. Back then she knew how to style herself. Having a boxy figure is not a bad thing. Women come in all shapes. Its life. Doesn't matter if one thinks their the best of us or not.
DeleteBTW, losing your waistline because of being pregnant is natural. Pretty sure I alluded to that in my post.Im also pretty sure she's closer to 4 months if an announcement was made.
Her three month pregnancy has nothing to do with "losing her waist". She didn't have a waist in the first place. That is one thing I noticed about her from the very start.
DeleteThis color is something what would look terrible at 99 % of women but to Meghan it is nice color.
ReplyDeleteI don't like this dress and shoes...
ReplyDeleteI think she is pregnant.
ReplyDeleteWell, we all know that. Due in mid-April.
DeleteShe surely is, it was officially announced yesterday.
DeleteI think the colour suits her very well. The skirt might be a little too long.
ReplyDeleteOh saw now they have announced it below.
ReplyDeleteI like this dress a lot. Very nice model and good colour for M. She is simply stylish.
ReplyDeleteI don't like this dress either. The top is awkward and bulky and the skirt has too much volume. It looks a little bit like she's being swallowed by a lot of swampy fabric.
ReplyDeleteit is a nice dress if you ignore the sideview.
ReplyDeletefrontview is nice. But imho it is quite casual and not sooooo'royal' for the occasion.
She looks beautiful and I love the dress and the color!! Olive green looks good on her!!
ReplyDeleteI think she looks good and faithful to her signature style. I like the shade of green and the pleats in the skirt.
ReplyDeleteThe upper part of the dress looks like a hairdressers cloak.
ReplyDeleteShe is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHer hairdo and makeup are perfect. The dress color is also nice on her and the style is ok.
ReplyDeleteAl estar embarazada su cuerpo está experimentando cambios, no me desagrada tal vez un poquito más corto
ReplyDeleteOh, cut the woman some slack, she is pregnant, for heaven's sake. She actually looks as if she might start vomiting any minute.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in the early stages of pregnancy, I was unable to crawl out of bed without barfing, let alone have a civilized conversation with representatives of the Commonwealth.
Let's show her some solidarity, from woman to woman. When we are pregnant we don't want to have people turning their hawk's eyes on us to critizise our fashion choices, after all.
So true!
DeleteFully agree.
DeleteFair comment. However I did hear yesterday that she said she's been feeling really well
DeleteShe is photographed constantly, that is why she should choose clothes that not only look well on her in real life, but would also look perfect in pictures. Not an easy job, but should be taken into consideration.
ReplyDeleteShe is perfect and beautiful, the color is also ok.
ReplyDeleteI think the top part of the dress is very pretty on her, and the color too. It's the skirt that is the problem. Too long, first of all -- it seems to throw the whole thing out of proportion. Then the many pleats somehow look too busy with the very plain, crisp, tailored upper part of the dress. I love the shoes, but agree with the person who commented that they are overwhelmed by the volume of the skirt.
ReplyDeleteI like this dress maybe she should have wore'n it in red? it really would have popped. The white one yesterday was simple and elegant. Great so far.
ReplyDeleteThinking a bit back, I don't think we saw her in red, not one of her colours. Rzspecting the personality is more important in my view than applying strictly styling rules.
DeleteLeaving one additional button open at the top may have given a more relaxed style, more or less like the model.
DeleteMeghan looks great!
ReplyDeleteI have noticed before that olive green sets off a lot of people on this forum. Olive is a trending color, considered a neutral, and happens to look good on Meghan. This dress has a beautifully cut bodice that gives it a lot of interest. The pleats on the skirt are not too much because they stay close to the body. The dress is being worn just as it is shown on the model, but I wouldn't mind seeing it a little shorter.
ReplyDeleteI just went to Brandon M.'s website, quite a few good dresses, probably appealing to her.
ReplyDeleteSHE LOOKS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete👌
DeleteShe has worn this drab olive green color when Prince Louis was christened. This dress looks much better in the red version. I have read (and you can't believe everything you read, I know) she wears dark colors to not bring attention to herself. Well, she is a royal now by marriage, and people are there to see her not the event she is at. All royal women know that they should wear bright colors so the "little people" can see them. Sort of defeats the purpose if a person goes to an event to see Meghan and they can't locate her very well because she blends in with all the other drab colors worn by people. She needs to make the effort to learn these tricks of the royal trade.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't make any sense. The male royals wear dark colors. I have never heard any complaints that they cannot be seen. I am sure she is wearing what she wants to wear. They are the colors she is comfortable in and she knows she looks good in. It makes no difference what people with personal opinions think, really, she has been dressing as a public figure for a long time. I think WHO she is is the problem--a bi-racial American former actress.
DeleteYou are so on point!!!!
DeleteShe is perfect and beautiful, the color is also ok.
ReplyDeleteI like this dress, and the colour is perfect for her complexion. Suits her very well and the shoes are perfect.
