On August 23, 2018, Danish Crown Prince family, that is, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary and their four children Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine came to Tórshavn with the Royal Yacht Dannebrog and began their four day official visit to Faroe Islands. The family wears Faroe national costume which is traditionally used on festivity days. Faroe national costumes are used for celebrations of various festivals, national holidays, weddings, baptism and parties. |
I wish they speak out against the gruwesome dolphine slaugther that take place there every year (just happened).
ReplyDeletePilot whales not dolphins - and unlikely that they would say anything.
DeleteMore than a thousand dolphins where killed durin this "traditional festive event". Some visitors have said that men, women and children took part in the massive killing armed with hooks, ropes and knives. The sea turned red and the cries of the dying animals were heartrendering. The images the press has shown, with the bloody sea end the corpses of the gutted dolphins are unbearable. It seems that the practice is protected by the Danish government.
DeleteWe don't get to dictate how other cultures live; people use what's available to them. I'm not saying I condone it, but that is their life. As a vegetarian, I don't like the slaughter of animals for "food"; but most people think nothing of eating animals, it's normal for them.
DeleteRoyalty fan
DeleteI wholeheartedly agree with you, Iris, and Sakurahime, and I wish king Fillipe of Spain can speak out against the cruel bull fighting, also
I like Faroe national costumes! It's nice that royal family wears them too but you can see it's not there tradition. More important question is how to stop this massive killing of such inteligent mammals as dolphins and whales all over the globe. Talking about tradition is so out of place here. I hope young generations of royals will take more important role in such cases.
DeleteRoyalty fan, issuing laws against animal mistreatment is competence of the EU arliament and of the parliaments and governts of each State. The king of Spain does not govern, but guarantees the Constitution.
DeleteWell, the rest of humanity has put so much toxins in the sea that the whales contain a lot of them, to the point that eating them comes with health warnings. Yeay humanity, we have saved the whales...
DeleteIt's nice that in Denmark the men also wear traditional costumes!!!
ReplyDeleteAgree!
DeleteThey look great - love the acknowledgement of the local clothing.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that the royal family wears the traditional clothing. Faroe Islands is one of my "must go" destinations.
ReplyDeleteI always find it beautiful to see traditional clothes, although I ask myself if the Danish Royal Family has stolen some christmas stockings from the Brits?
ReplyDeleteoh how nice they look in this traditional clothes!
ReplyDeleteI see no charm at all being dressed out like that.Mary to mutch as always, and Fredrik uncomfortable in his costume.Traditional clothes is perhaps fine, but when you look like a fairytale, how fun is that?
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of difficulties in accepting these horrible traditions!! Do they need that for their self-satisfaction???
ReplyDeleteIn Spain king Juan Carlos attended a fight recently but not king Felipe.
No, I believe they do it for food.
DeletePoor boys wearing that hat!!!!!
