On July 5, 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex attended a reception marking the culmination of the Commonwealth Secretariats Youth Leadership Workshop, at Marlborough House, the headquarters of the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met with some of its young leaders to see how CommonwealthSec is helping them make their ideas a reality. |
Much, much better! Structured, neat and tidy and appropriate. Even her "messy bun" isn't too messy. :-) I'd love to see this dress again dress up a bit with hat or fascinator and jewelry.
ReplyDeleteAmen! There is hope indeed 😃💃
DeleteAlways stylish, always a warm smile!
ReplyDeleteSimple, summery and very chic - she looks great. And look, the model has a messy hairdo ... but Meghan doesn't.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I caught that too! LOL!
DeleteStunning !!!
ReplyDeleteA tremendous applause from me as well.
DeleteBright, clean lines, cool and summery. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteMeghan carries off this style and colour very well. She has yet to look relaxed but I'm sure that will come with time.
ReplyDeleteDuchess of Sussex is very stilysh in this outfit.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely lovely! A really bright colour at last and doesn't she look fab? Well done, Duchess.
ReplyDeleteLovely Meghan! I like the colour, I think she likes making surprises. Yellow looks really good on her. Maybe the cut of the dress could be a bit more flattering, but it's okay. All in all I love this outfit!
ReplyDelete1) OMG she's wearing color!
ReplyDelete2) I can hear the baby-bump rumors starting.
why do you say that?
DeleteI cant find a vestige of pregnancy on these pictures. The duchess is incredibly slim. What a ridiculous comment!
DeleteI can't speak for Casey, but I think she (Casey, you are female, yes?) is just referring to the bright color and yellow being a happy color *and* that with some people - not all but some - they will start to speculate that she's wearing a brighter color because a baby is on the way. My goodness, relax. I also don't like it when people speculate on pregnancies (I figure one way or another we all find out when we're supposed to) but wow, so defensive. It's been my experience that whether you're famous, not famous, royal, or not royal, ten minutes after walking back up the aisle from saying, "I do," people, family, friends start speculating on when you'll get pregnant and looking for signs. It's just human nature. No need to burst a giblet. :-)
DeleteI agree with Anonymous. I didn't in any way get the feeling that Casey was starting a rumor. I think it was that she was saying she could just hear the rag magazines printing tons of rumors. Yes, as soon as a royal or celebrity marries the bump stories appear shortly thereafter. There was just a story citing friends of the Duchess of Cambridge saying she is already pregnant with baby number four. There you have it! Relax, folks!
DeleteYou can disagree with a comment without calling names on a post, Elin. Casey's comment was understandable given our tabloid-infested world. I really believe we all wish Meghan well on this blog, even if we have different views on her fashion.
DeleteSo lovely! Beautifully chic & elegant summer dress. Meghan looks terrific in bold color. And, yes, Casey, I can hear the rumblings, too.
ReplyDeleteNice color, nice cut and the right size for her. She is listening very attentive to Prince Harry's speech.
ReplyDeleteThe Dss of Sussex, yellow dress is simple and elegant.Maybe it is just for me too loud. Her updo looks nice. July will be a busy month for both of them. First Ireland then the visit of President Trump and hopefully Mrs Trump. I read at the Royal Forums that Meghan do not like the US President, some of the Poster at least stated so. I don't believe that they have exclusive access to her. If it should be this way, I don"t think the Queen would be too happy with her. She is new to the Firm she needs to remember always, Duty First, nothing else matters I don't think she want's to put the Queen in a bad light. This of course is my opinion.
ReplyDeleteShe said she is proud to be a feminist. Prior to her wedding she had very strict views in certain (political) topics as well. I think she has nothing in common with Trump... but of course turning down the invitation is not an option for her-yet. Btw she looks lovely, althuogh I miss hemlines. She is so pretty, she could wear a tiny belt. That was my biggest problem with her wedding gown either: no focus on her tiny waist.
DeleteThe dress is lovely in its simplicity. Perhaps a belt to break up the straight line of the dress would also work. Since she is new, the idea may be to wear the bright color so that people can see her in a crowd. That is the reason given for the queen's choice of color. Quoting what others have written and expanding on it is of course not my opinion.
DeleteJust because she doesn't like trump doesn't mean she wouldn't behave properly. I don't think the queen likes him either. Its work. I don't think she will even meet trump. Its not a state visit.
DeleteAnonymous @ 12:46... and why are you already making assumptions about whether the queen will be unhappy if Meghan doesn't like Trump? Do you suppose that the sovereign demands that her grandson's wife must abandon her principles? Also do you think that her majesty likes him? do you think that Meghan can't get over her dislike of certain people and behave on a civil manner? Stating you political views when you are a public person it's a rather normal practice, specially when you are one of millions of people that share the same opinion. I am sure that now following the protocol of the Royal family she would have to abstain from exposing her opinion. I am sure that she is perfectly capable of being gracious regardless. Now let's put the crystal ball back in the closet, and let things be :-)
DeleteAfter her career she knows exactly how to behave and you won't see her personal feelings showing through. Anyone with manners would know how to behave. She's entitled to her personal feelings, but she'll be perfect. I think she's in good company.
DeleteOne should be gracious no matter what their personal opinion. Although our President is brash and outspoken, he is trying to do his best, although making some mistakes, to straighten out our country, and attempt to stop some of the horrible things that happen here. I am sure the Royal Family realize that different leaders have different styles of doing things. The Obama was polished and less brash, but put the United States in a big mess. I hope that the Queen and other Royals who meet the Trumps will give them a chance.
DeleteIf they can have state dinners and events with some leaders of countries with the harshest human rights abuses on the planet, they certainly can meet the US Pres who, along with his country, is nowhere near that category. The royals, especially the older ones, have done this very professionally over the years. Megan looks wonderful her only quibble would be a slim belt to complete it.
DeleteAlso, when are they ever going on their honeymoon?
Megan seems very polite and intelligent. I'm sure regardless of her personal opinions of Trump she will represent the Queen properly and honorably. Believe me when I say there have been MANY visitors to the White House who do not like Trump - VERY MANY - but they had to go either out of duty (military personnel for example) or obligation and just had to, as the saying goes, "grin and bear it." I get the impression that Harry does not care for Trump either but no one here is questioning how he will behave. She doesn't have to fawn all over him. She only has to be polite and cordial. Hopefully, if she and Harry have a long and wonderful life together there will be many, many times when she'll have to meet politicians and dignitaries not of her personal liking. The trip to the White House will just be the first of many such occasions.
DeleteJM, I don't know how many people visit this blog to read politically commentary, I don't. I generally read the reputable press to inform myself of current events, please let us enjoy some moments of levity, and spare us from your political agenda. Thanks in advance.
DeleteSuperbe, la couleur, la longueur, tout est parfait sur elle
ReplyDeleteShe looks great in yellow. I also like the clean lines, though I wish the dress was a) 5cm shorter and b) had slits on either side of the dress rather than the one slit in the back. Also, a bracelet or some sort of accessory had been great. But still, good outfit, simple and elegant.
ReplyDeleteNo matter whether an outfit is expensive or not, it should be fitted by a tailor. I do it to Zara and to couture both. If you look at the model, you will see that the arms are not as cut out as on the Duchess. It makes all the difference - the model looks good, and the Duchess' shoulders look too wide, and the color only exagerrates it. It is not her size. She is quite thin and probably chose the dress as it fitted the body. She should have chosen the shoulder fit and adjusted the body fit. This size doesn't show her waist, even the straight shift would have been better.
ReplyDelete@ Marina Nevskaya, you described very well the problem of this dress. It looks nice from the distance, cut and color are good for Meghan, but it does not fit! Same problem was with her wedding dress. You explained well how you start do choose a dress fitting well on the shoulders, the neckline and the bodice part and then you adjust the rest of it. Thanks for your expertise.
DeleteI will never understand why these royal ladies spend thousands on expensive brands, but do not care of the fitting. We see that often with Mathildes dresses, wheras Letizias clothes are usually fitted. And this makes all the difference. Do these fashion houses not have a customer service? It would have taken a good seamstress just a few hours work to adjust this yellow dress to Meghans body proportions and it would have looked perfect. The cost of a few extra $$ cannot be the problem.
Thank you for your post, Marina. I thought something was not quite right about the fit. You are spot on in your explanation.
DeleteShe looks beautiful in this gorgeous canary yellow! A bun is a nice solution for outdoor events. In my opinion, the dress is a little too long for her stature. If it ended below the knees it would have been perfect.
ReplyDeleteWallis Simpson has risen from the dead
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Lovely! Elegant!
ReplyDeleteShe is so stunning!!!! I love her style, simple elegance at it’s best!
ReplyDeleteI think this colour looks good on the duchess. It's very flattering.
ReplyDeleteOne of her better looks. She should wear colorful outfits more often. Very elegant.
ReplyDeletePerfect outfit. Spot on.
ReplyDeleteAgree.
DeleteI really like this dress and hairstyle. Now that she has discovered colors, please also wear some jewellery (necklace, bracelet or brooch).
ReplyDeleteI don't think your wishes about jewelry will take in a fairly short-term future. She likes a general sober styling.
DeleteBeautiful! Very elegant! Love it!
ReplyDeleteBin ganz Ihrer Meinung. Meghan ist ein Gewinn für das Königshaus.
DeleteSTUNNING AND CHIC
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I think, pencilskirts and dresses with clear colours are the best for her. She isn't the type for miniflower fabrics and ruffles. Too romy and wide dresses don't suit her well just as many dresses which Kate favoured many times...
ReplyDeleteelle est magnifique!superbe toilette.
ReplyDeleteWow and double wow! This lady is setting a new standard. Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMe gusta mucho este vestido minimalista, de líneas simples y muy chic. Todo el trabajo lo hace el color. Bravo.
ReplyDeleteTrès jolie femme
ReplyDeleteDUCHESSE mariejeanne
Prince Harry's role as Ambassador to the Commonwealth Youth Leadership is very meaningful and important providing the people with life-changing opportunity.
ReplyDeleteGreat Look! The belt and a little more jewelry would have ramped up the style.
ReplyDeleteTo JM @1:11 PM I fully agree with you.
ReplyDeleteHoping Admin blocks the divisive US political commentary. It is disrupting to the fun and pleasant posts about our favorite royals.
ReplyDeleteYes please no political rhetoric. This is no place for it.
DeleteAgree.
DeleteLangsam passt die Frisur , nicht so oberflächlich wie so oft !!
ReplyDeleteShe wore simple design of dress, no grand jewelry yet she's so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHet kleed mocht wel wat korter.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Classy but in an effortless, unpretentious way. Like the woman Harry fell in love with. Even if she now carries a title, I hope she never changes and stays true to her own self. We don't need a copycat of some imaginary royal person, but rather honest, genuine human beings who can be role models for the new generations.
ReplyDeleteCanadian fan
Welcome to the big show .... but she looks great, as ever.
ReplyDeleteSimple and lovely dress. Color very flattering. Elegant without too much accessories. Meghan's style.
ReplyDeleteDivine!
