On July 14, 2018, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex attended day twelve of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London. (Kate's wearing a bespoke Jenny Packham dress, Meghan is wearing a Ralph Lauren striped cotton shirt and wide leg trousers). |
Someone should have advised Meghan that the uniform the wimbledon umpire (referee) is checked blue shirt with white pants 😁😁😁
ReplyDeleteYes she is wearing the same outfit as the staff, not a good idea. And the panties are too baggy and covering the floor!
Deletewhy is the back of her collar not straightened out?
Deletebecause that's not the way you should wear it
DeleteKate is so charming and caring. She looks as mother of three -happy but tired.Meghan is businesswomen -modern and elegant.I enjoy to see picture with two beautiful ladies.
ReplyDeleteThey both look fantastic. Stunning women!
ReplyDeleteAgree and they both have done a great job, love these pics.
DeleteWowww meghan, you beauty!perfect summery Wimbledon look!!! Kate looks older than meghan which in reality, meghan is older than her!!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know they are both 36...
DeleteAnd Catherine is a mother of 3... The youngest 3 months old!
DeleteMeghan turns 37 in a week. Kate turned 36 in Jan. I suppose baby Louis is giving her sleepless nights
DeleteThey are only months apart in age. Meghan was born on August 4, 1981; Catherine was born on January 9, 1982.
DeleteSo Anonymous you agree with me... Now they both are 36 and Catherine is a mother of 3 with a baby of 3 old months... So she looks more tired, obviously...
DeleteKate doesnt look tired. She always looked older than Meghan. Meghan is just aging better. No big deal. Kate still looks good.
DeleteRaquel Alves, I think it is because she dresses more conservatively (older). I think that is due to her role in the family. I really don't think how she dresses should matter so much, but it does in the BRF. They are a more conservative family. I can see her dressing more along the lines of Letezia if she were allowed.
DeleteI fully agree with anonymous9.13; you are using the right words. Catherine looked rather tired at Louis' christening, she looks better here in my view.
DeleteMeghan tries to be more innovative, I agree. I like her outfit here however I am usually strongly against the extra long pants (and sleeves aswell), I like to leave the floor cleaning to professionals. Of course she is likely to wear these pants only once.
I think Kate could try a more svelte hair cut. Sometimes it works a lot even without changing outfits
DeleteBoth ladies look beautiful. I am more partial to Meghan's outfit, but that is personal choice.
ReplyDeleteboth of them looks „wow“. i like meghans outfit more. but its my personal taste. catherine looks very loveley. and gosh, what a body for having three children in five years
ReplyDeleteAgree with you martina. Both looked Wow and stunning
DeleteLove Catherine's dress, the shoulder and waist details are very unique and pretty. Catherine's hair is beautiful today! I do not care for Meghan's pants. They are too long. Other sites show her full length standing and talking and the pants are puddled on the grass. Not a good look for anyone, but especially a shorter person. Her blouse is quite nice, that crisp and cool look for Wimbledon.
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look beautiful. Meghan's outfit is fantastic, I would wear it myself and Kate is Kate...I could see that she would wear something like that. But I like her style too. Great event, I'm happy to see these two fantastic ladies together!
ReplyDeleteThey both look very good - I like Kates style more - and above all: they both look relaxed!
ReplyDeleteKate's dress is cute but nothing spectacular. She looks elegant and business-like, which is appropriate since she's the patron of the tennis club. Meghan's pants are way too long and her hair is a terrible mess.
ReplyDeleteKate's earrings are spectacular! Are they new?
ReplyDeleteTwo very different, but very attractive styles. To be honest, I like seeing Catherine's slightly more formal attire, as here, because she is England's future queen. Meghan's elegantly casual, crisp and sporty look is spot-on for a youthful duchess. I love wide-leg trousers, and only wish that hers had been taken up so that they didn't drag on the ground. (I see that the trousers on the model in the photo are exactly the same, so I hope this look isn't suddenly "on trend".)
ReplyDeleteA lovely appearance from both ladies. Love Meghan's crisp shirt and agree that her trousers are just a tad too long but the combination of the top with them is lovely. Catherine's dress is pretty and she looks happy and relaxed.
ReplyDeleteDe broek van Meghan is echt te lang, sleept over de grond. Witte broek met deze gestreepte blouse is wel heel mooi.
ReplyDeleteKleed van Catherine is iets te druk, te veel werk aan besteed.
Love them both! Fyi Meghans pants are designed to hit the the ground and be longer. They both look great! Been waiting for pictures of them together sans the Princes. They did not disappoint and seem to be close.
ReplyDeleteAlso just in case ~ Catherine was there in official capacity. Meghan was NOT and there to watch her close friend Serena. Some are already bashing Meghan for wearing pants in the royal box in her official role. Not an official role. She looks elegant but summery. I really wish the haters out and about would leave her alone. Do ppl really think she blatantly breaks the rules? HOGWASH! She is a very sophisticated young woman and knows what to do! Just watching video today she is always standing back a little from Catherine. She knows she is one step below Catherine in the pecking order. She also knows protocol. Just my rant for the day.... maybe Lol
Well said, Diane.
DeleteThank you for speaking truth to ‘polite’ hostility directed at Meghan, Diane. In some ways, also towards Catherine.
DeleteWell said Diane ! Agree 100%. I also like the two different styles of these women. Most of all,I love what looks like a growing close friendship between them.
DeleteAs this is a fashion blog, why is criticism of what Meghan wears regarded as hating?? I love her outfit and adore the trousers, I see elsewhere that they are meant to trail the ground. If only I was thin enough to wear something similar!! However, I think the outfit was too casual for the Royal Box. Nothing to do with attending in an official capacity. And the messy hair was back with a vengeance. When you watch the clips of the Duchesses meeting the ball boys/girls, Meghan is constantly fidgeting with it. Catherine's dress was lovely, appropriate and the quirky tennis ball detail made it fun. Lovely to see them both at Wimbledon today.
DeleteKate probably would love to have the freedom to dress the way Meghan can. Just looking at the pictures of her before she became a duchess, you can tell she had a more relaxed and playful style. She also takes her role very seriously, and that shows in her manner of dress now.
DeleteExtremely well said...
DeleteAgree with you too Diane.
DeleteKate haters is also starting again on how old and tired she looked. Glad you touch on meghan haters
I thought Meghan looked great... Until I saw the length of her pants. In my opinion the length totally destroys her look. Why do these royals, with limitless budgets and access, not know to tailor their pants? If puddles on the ground, elephant ankles is in style, then I will gladly stay "out." But her shirt looks crisp and fresh. Kate's outfit is nice, albeit nothing remarkable. They're both lovely women, to be sure.
ReplyDeletePlease remember that all new trends look odd at the beginning of the trend. Meghan's trousers are on trend. They are deliberately cut and fitted to puddle and flare generously at ground level. She did NOT fail to have them tailored. Should she follow trends? Why not if they are not offensive and she is not officially on duty? She is covered and sporty and well groomed. And her messy bun is charming to as many people as object to it.
ReplyDeleteWell said!
DeleteObviously it's just me, but I think Meghan looks messy. Back to messy hair, shirt is too baggy, and pants are too long.
ReplyDeleteI personally like her "messiness" as you say.
DeleteYes, Larina, she looks wonderful. Meghan's hair is a style, an actual style, whether some approve of it or not. Her outfit is appropriate for the occasion, and fits as intended. Bravo Meghan!
DeleteThey look great in their own style, the pants are a bit too long for Meghan.
ReplyDeleteAgree.
DeleteEl vestido de Kate es precioso, muy Lady. La camisa de Meghan me gusta mucho, pero los pantalones son tan horribles como los de StephaLux. No puedes ir barriendo la hierba, es ridículo.
ReplyDeleteBoth Dss's look very lovely.I do like Catherine's dress a lot. Meghan had a nice combo with the blouse and pant.Sadly no one had a needle to hem the pant legs up,this way it did not look that nice.

ReplyDeleteIncreased beauty or a beauty-boom IMO.
ReplyDeleteI abhor pants dragging the ground. I don't know even how you walk without stepping on them. Not to mention how dirty they will get by dragging the ground! By the way, shouldn't Megs wear a dress in the Royal Box at Wimbledon instead of pants? She is not just an average spectator. I think Duchess of Cambridge looks great. I love her dress by Jenny Packham, her go to designer.
ReplyDeleteA dress is not required attire. Women wore pants in the Royal Box today, Emma Watson being one of them. Billie Jean King and Martina Navratilova sat just behind the Duchesses and I am sure they were in pants.
DeleteI don’t have a problem with Meghan’s outfit, she looks lovely however those pants are far too long even if that is the trend as someone wrote about the length. It spoils the whole outfit. I personally like her messy bun in this instance, it fits the outfit. I guess now that she is Royal she should have worn a dress but that did not dawn on me until someone wrote it.
ReplyDeleteI just don't see why everyone thinks Meghan looks great. There is something about her I just don't like, and that extends to her fashion choices. I think she is trying too hard to make an impression or to create an image. Maybe that's left over from her Hollywood experience.
ReplyDeletei see that too. i think most people are still in honeymoon phase, so everything has to be sweet and nice when obviously its not. those pants were not designed for her figure, and the shirt is too big!
DeleteAgree 🤭🤫🤔
DeleteNot caring what other people think is the best choice you will ever make.
DeleteBoth Dss look very nice Catherine is so serine, since she has had her 3 child . She wears a very good fitting nice dress. Meghan's outfit looks OK but someone sew up the pant legs before she trip and fall. And Angelique Kerber won she is a great Tennis player,so Good Luck to her today.
ReplyDeleteMeghan - Wow - Super - Schick, sie war Anlass entsprechend gekleidet und nicht vergessen - sie war privat unterwegs. Kate war auch OK.
ReplyDeleteI think Meghan's outfit is ill fitting on her. She is so tiny and the shirt swallows her. It's a nice shirt but way too big on her. As far as the pants go fashion or not they look horrible. I can never understand why fashion has to be slavishly followed especially when it does not suit your body. If the pants were fitted I think the outfit would have been way better on her.
ReplyDeleteI like the combo of meghan. But, the hair, she look like, as fallen out of bed. Sorry, but that is not appropriate - even if it is trend - for her role, she has now in public. And personally I got the feeling from several photos, that she is miles away from her comfort zone. The casual thing. And it seems she feels it (fiddeling with the hair, whispering like a school girl). But for me, the worst: She obviously did not applaud to Kerber. As a member of the BRF she has to applaud to the winner, and of course, if anyone is a fair sportswoman in mind, she would do this as well. Very strange behaviour for me.
ReplyDeleteI was very glad to see Catherine and Meghan appearing at Wimbledon.
ReplyDeleteI don’t see that this is just a fashion blog... so is also interesting to comment on all aspects of these photos... we are Multi-faceted folk! Fashion talk only is a bit dull n petty.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know who the lady in the pink dress is? She was in the Royal Box as well when we were there on Thursday. Hostess of the Royal Box perhaps.
ReplyDeleteThat is Gill Brook, the wife of Philip Brook who is the Chairman of the AELTC (All English Lawn Tennis Club).
DeleteI truly like Meghan's outfit, I don't think the shirt is too big, but I agree that the sweeping pants albeit trendy, they are somewhat silly, I personally favor long hems on this type of pants all the way to the tip of my shoe, if tailored properly you can achieve the same look without touching the ground, I have no problem with the so called messy hair, I really like it, specially in this type of informal settings. Catherine looks lovely with a somewhat unremarkable dress. And yes, this is a fashion blog, although it's inevitable that we sometimes dabble into other areas, what it should never become is a space where people vent their personal dislikes and make ridiculous assumptions. It's very easy to say that you don't like an outfit, without aluding to " the Hollywood past" as if this was a terrible flaw or a character definition. Let alone all the imaginary rules regarding the attire when attending this event, there is no protocol breach concerning wearing pants for Meghan's role on this particular event.

ReplyDeleteCompletely agree and I think these fab "two" look much better than Prince William and his Duchess or Prince Harry and his Duchess :-)
DeleteMeghan outfit is very nice, but the shirt is not her size. It is visible when she moves and it moves in unflattering waves around her. It is even more visible with cotton. I have the same model and it is a relaxed fit, not an oversized or boyfriend fit. She is very slim and needs a dresser who can fit all her purchases.

Deleteseems they have a good, genuine connection. Surely they are both intelligent and socially astute and will never feel like they in any sort of (even somewhat friendly) 'competition' (like it happens at times between sisters-in-law).
ReplyDeletestyle wise, they both seem to stay true to their own. Eve before marrying William, Kate was partial to dresses rather than pants (only very few pictures of her wearing pants and those were mostly jeans). And the length on Megan's pants may look unusual to some of us, however it is certainly trend (check collections from Stella McCartney to Chloe to Victoria Beckham - including the model from Ralph Lauren). not very practical, but it is indeed the trend.
personally, I like both outfits equally. if forced to pick only one for myself, it's more likely that I would choose the dress, but Megan wears her outfit impeccably.
trendy does not necessarily mean elegant, unfortunately.
Deletemeghan has dressed appropriately for the ocassion, kate looks tooo matronly for the wimbledon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAgree.
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look lovely, however I must admit I am particularly taken with Meghan's ensemble, it is bright, fresh and very crisp looking. I do think the trousers are a tad too long.
ReplyDeleteI think it is safe to say that Meghan's pants look great, although most would take them up to the top of the shoe. Fair enough. It would not completely destroy the intended look at all. Her blouse is not too big as some have mentioned, it fits perfectly. I can't believe for one moment that she does not have a stylist or anyone to alter her clothes. It just doesn't make any sense. As for her hair and the messy bun, we have been sporting messy buns for a long time in the US. They are not just lazy, unkempt styles, it takes a lot of effort to get the bun looking just right. I understand that the look is not for everyone, my mother for example :), but the obsession over her hair is ridiculous. She wears her hair appropriately for official visits, and can do as she pleases when "off duty".
ReplyDeleteAgree totally. Messy buns in the UK too - I like them, they give a softer look.
DeleteHerzogin Catherine elegant und passend gekleidet - wie stets ! Meghan hat sich wohl ein Hemd von Henry genommen ...
