The royal court said that she was sick. She arrived with Victoria and Daniel but didn't attend the christening.

  2. OMG! What a wonderful event! Madeleine looks like an angel she looks absolutely perfect and beautiful. When I first saw her headband of flowers it looked strange but the more I look at it the more I like it. Sofia looks also wonderful I think it's a perfect look. Her hairstyle, her make up, her dress, accessories...everything is just perfect about her. And also motherhood really suits her I think. I didn't like Victoria's outfit or hairstyle this time. Silvia as always looked amazing. All the children are adorable, I really enjoyed watching the christening.

Yes, that was a wonderful ceremony for a family celebration but also for a formal occasion. I like the music and the Royal family so much. They are so down-to-earth as possible with their kids. Funny to see Princess Leonore barefoot in the chapel and on the way to take some photos outside :) Typical Leonore!!
CP Victoria looked a bit stressed. Purportedly Princess Estelle was getting ill on the way to the ceremony because she was seen by photographer in the car on their way to the chapel. All Ladies are glamorous, but I' m not a big fan of Victorias dress and headdress, sorry. She looks a little bit older than she is. She can do much better!
Madeleine and Sofia are looking adorable!
I really enjoyed this hour on TV.

Madeleine look good but I think her hair would look better up.
Victoria... she looked matrony. Very much so.

Silvia looked great but I wish the dress was in another color.

  7. Leonor is beyond adorable, what a spirited little girl. I think Alexander, Gabriel, Oscar, even Nicholas are too young to comprehend what's going young, and it must have been very hard on them to be still during all that pomp and ceremony, as can be seen by the way they fidget and run around..

    1. Madeleine was 'just as wild' as a child as her daughter Leonore and see how great she has turned out. If Madeleine did not want to do something like posing for photos she just left, even if the King tried to get her to come back.

Lisa Nilsson: I remember that! Madeleine was very squirmy and did her own thing, she did not want to be a princess. However, Madeleine had wild teen years and didn't really settle down until she went to New York to sort out her life and met Chris - and the rest is history.

Sofia's dress was good too, but her shoes need to go!

All the Ladies wore very nice dresses age appropriate the only dress was not really nice was Victoria's, this dress made her older than she is. The children all were the cutest bunch and all 7 of them together, boy this must have been a very lively event.Alexander is and look so much like CP Gabriel has beautiful blue eyes, he sure takes it all in. Oscar is not going to smile no matter what,he does it his way good for him.

Madeleine and all godmothers make such a lovely picture. All of them look so beautiful and elegant. Madeleine..woww. One of her hest looks, like she stepped out from some romantic painting.
Sofia and Silvia also were great. Victoria's dress looked awfully old-fashioned, especially with her hair and headpiece. Chris's mother, sister and niece beautifully dressed. Overall very lovely baptism. Adrienne behaved like a pro. Cery cute and sweet child ❤❤

  13. I watched the baptism and I agree with most comments. Madeleine's dress is nice, not crazy about the flower headband, Victoria needs to look her age and dress more appropriately. Sofia is adorable, shoes and all -don't see anything wrong with them. All the boys are cute, Carl and Sofia's have beautiful smiles. The new baby is very pretty and so is Leonor, although still misbehaving a little, and yes she's only 4 I know.

Seriously, Leonore is now four years old and should know how to behave in public (and in a church yet!). Her younger cousins are be better-behaved already than she ever was. These are the king's grandchildren!

Other than that, Madeleine looked beautiful as always. Victoria's dress is way too old for her.

  15. A lovely family event. Madeleine's dress is pretty, perfect for a sunny early summer's day, and Queen Silvia looks good. I don't like Victoria's dress - I normally quite like the Little House on the Prairie style but this is a frumpy cut and length. The winner for me is Sofia - beautiful dress, lovely hair and adornment and whilst I don't love her shoes I don't hate them either, they're fairly neutral in my opinion.

I like how the children are there for the family event but not expected to ve absolutely perfect - a shame that Estelle was ill.

  21. Leonore should be more well behaved at this point. I really do think they are pretty much allowed to run wild at home. Everyone has their own parenting style and I Leonore is not to be Queen as Estelle will be BUT even my own daughter knew at this age to not pull her dress up and settle down. Yes an hour is long at that age but I do not understand why they don't bring toys or a coloring book to entertain them? I did that. All my frienda did this and it helped with the chaos. The behavior is only cute for so long. I do love Leonorea free spirit but she needs to start behaving or they will have trouble later.

    JMHO

    1. No scolding, Diane. I completely agree. Actually wonder whether something is wrong re: Leonore. She does not seem realistically connected to others around her. Estelle is a spirited, active child but she is responsive and connected. And I am sorry that you have been sobbing all day. Peace to you.

      Delete
    2. Yes Diane I completely agree with you.
At one point during the christening Madeleine and Chris looked very exasperated with Leonore's behavior.
Honestly I think one of them should have taken Leonore aside and had a word with her, kind of like how Kate did with George at her sisters wedding.
Especially after she appeared to try and choke Nicolas. She tried to engage her younger cousins in play as well but I noticed that Victoria and Sofia were hesitant about letting them go. On social media there was lots of comments about how cute her behavior was, but I disagree.
At four years old she should not be taking off her shoes, pulling up her dress, and rolling around on the floor.
I really do wonder who her primary care giver is. Sometimes you see this behavior from children who are taken care of by their nannies and not parents.

      Delete
    3. I agree with you totally about Leonore. I think her behave does not look cute at all, it just tells she is growing out of parenting. Madeline does wrong when laughing to her when she is badly misbehaving. And it is very useless to invoke kids amount three, I had five lively little kids at time and they never behaved like that in any public situation when need to behave well. Madeleine will be having big troubles one day with that child.

      Delete
    4. I agree. Leonore should know how to behave. Of course nobody expects perfect behaviour but she was totally wild. I think both Madeleine and Chris are more strict with her at home but when so many people are watching and there are cameras everywhere you try to stay calm and be kind to the kid because if you do otherwise you make headlines the next day. The problem is that Leonore probably won't listen if you ask her nicely. But Nicolas behaviour was much better, even though you could see that it was too much for him. So I don't think that Madeleine and Chris are bad parents they definitely try their best but sometimes you just get a very stubborn kid with a strong personality.

    5. About child like Leonore who has habit of running etc. I would myself have told her how to behave and tell also if she does not, nanny or somebody is going to take her out. Taking her out once would be enough to stop that behave really.

    6. No scolding at all @ Diane Brown, because you tell the truth. Anyone who has experience with kids that age can see that this child is not grounded and has no rules in the family at all. She is the boss! There is something going wrong between ahnd her father, because in some videos you could see that she behaves extremely rude and rejective towards him. Wen they entered the church she was on his arm, he said a word to her, probably to calm her down and she shut his mouth with her hand. Outside when taking the family portrait he wanted to hold her by the hand to prevent her from running around, she swept his hand away and changed on her moher's side, knowing Madeleine would let her do what she wants. She plays her game with her parents and especially Chris O'Neill does not seem to have a word in this family. There must be some issues behind the doors, I am sure. Leonore's behaviour in the church, rolling around on the floor, liftin her skirt is unacceptable, disturbing and alarming. You could see it on the faces of everyone. I wonder if they seek counseling or let things just go it's way.

    7. I agree with all the comments above especially Pine. I know she is a child but she seems different to her cousins and the adults just ignore her behaviour and smile.

      Delete
    8. I actually agree with Pine. Leonore seems to be in a world of her own all the time, not being receptive to what happens around her. We all recall the many occasions when her parents tried to get her attention in vain, chase her for the photo and so on. To me it seems the parents now kind of 'know better' and just let it happen because 'it cannot be helped'. We should not be too harsh on M... After all what do we know about what's going on.

    10. Well, for one thing, I do not think that four-year-old little girls have to be able to sit still for a long time.
And secondly, I remember the baptism of Princess Ariane of the Netherlands - the little cousins played catches at the altar and crawled under the priest's skirt - so behaviors occur in other families and it's not because Madeleine and Chris are bad parents.

But what strikes me is that Madeleine's two older children are both very unequaled - Leonor, as we've all seen, is always on the move, she can hardly sit anywhere and Nicolas cries out at every opportunity.
Maybe this is their way of coping with the stress they had from traveling with their parents.
The family commutes between London and Stockholm, plus they are regularly in Florida and the south of France and maybe that's just too stressful for such small children. At least the children of Victoria and Carl Philipp, who stay mostly in the same environment, are much calmer and more relaxed.

I thought this was a place to discuss fashion/style of royals but instead people comment about four-year-old child who they do not know personally, yet, mercilessly tear appart.
Many kids of this age have trouble sitting down for long time, they get bored, want to run around. But royal children are not obviously allowed to do that. No way!!!
Social development of 4-year-olds can be different but as a mother of 4-year-old son, I feel for Leonore. I recognize many things she does as my son does the same things. This is the age they are trying to do things independently, not listen to their parents, discover. Also they moods may change quickly, they may throw tantrums at the smallest things, especially when they are overtired and havent had their daytime nap. Did not see Leonore throwing tantrum or screaming or something. Or did I miss something? Perhaps she also felt neglected as Madeleine was with Adrienne, Chris with Nicolas and she felt left out...
Anyway, this was very beautiful ceremony and I enojoyed watching it! Adrienne is very cute child.

Leonore was sitting on the rug in the church and took off her shoes. Oh, horrors. We have never been barefoot child in our life, haven't we?
Did she also get naked, run around screaming, threw tantrum, and disrupted the service? Didn't see it happen as much as I tried... But lets blame her and her parents. I find it very uncomfortable to critisize children. They still learn their boundaries, what they can, what the can not. What were her parents supposed to do? Slap her on her butt? Scream, scold in front of everyone? She was probably tired, nervous by the attention and crowds...she's not perfect but she is not terrible either!

    13. Oh, really, no one on this blog has "mercilessly torn apart" Leonore. If anyone is being overly dramatic, it's you, Anonymous. Personally, Leonore's repeated behavior, or lack of it, is concerning. I feel for Madeleine, who looked stressed from start to finish, in spite of her smile. And I also feel for Leonore. I think other posters have expressed valid concern, as well. I watched the video of the event again. Something is not connecting with this child. I wish her well but concern is warranted.

    14. Anonymous10/6/18 17:16

Leonore is a 4-year-old child, not a robot who can be programmed. She sit when it was expected to sit, only later did she get tired and restless. I don't quite blame her because even grown-ups can get restless during long ceremonies. Besides she's not as used to publicity/cameras/photographers like her cousins.
We are "concerned" about Leonore who's active and "uncontrollable", already predicting difficult times ahead with her. Bat yourself on your shoulder for having kids "who always behave" but are they really that well behaving all the time, even when tired, in need of their daily nap, would bystanders say the same? If yes, you are lucky.
Children of this age still learn and develop. And why active child is such a failure and concern but passive child, who only sit and stare is a good and admirable?

Amen Anonymous @ 7:15. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of criticism thrown at other parents, just because some people are just perfect....my family, friends and coworkers know that I am quite of a disciplinarian, and so I raised my three children with the same rules for all, but alas!! while 2 of them were relatively easy to handle, my middle one was a helion, he would throw tantrums at the most inconvenient times, talk back , and pretty much be his own person, time out, grounding, taking privileges away, sweet talking, and even an occasional swat in the bottom( yes, in those days , we spanked children) I can guarantee you that there was no bad parenting and that at moments I felt so frustrated, specially because there is always somebody ready to pass judgement . There was absolutely nothing wrong with my son, he eventually grew out of this behavior, although up to this day, he is a spirited, loving, generous and accomplished man that loves to be the devils advocate and enjoys a good and passionate discussion. We seem to quickly jump to judgement, and forget that thing aren't that simplistic. Shout out to all the mothers out there, even the less than perfect ones 😜

    16. LOL. Annonymous hysteria. No one wants this child to be perfect and no one has said so. No one wants her to sit frozen in a chair without moving. And if she grows up into a well-functioning adult, that will be great. Hopefully, she will. Right now, however, these events are beyond her capability. And the videos of her naked, shoeless legs and feet flailing in the air as she rolls on the floor in the center of a religious ceremony are there forever for the entire world to see--forever. This has nothing to do with your child. For her own protection, Leonore needs to be spared these pressured situations until it's clear they are not distressing her and will not be distressing for her to see, over and over again in news outlets over which she has no control, for the rest of her life.

Sorry I fail to see Leonore's actions were that bad. There have been lots of christenings, including royal christenings where little kids run around, sit or roll on the floor..they are children who are too young still to understand importance and difference of places and events.
When Leonore is a mother herself one day and wonders why her daughter or son is active and wants rather move around than sit still for 45 min, then these images and videos help to remind her that she was the same. Or perhaps Madeleine should start to event excuses why Leonore had to stay away from public events because who knows how tired and in need of her nap child may act?

    18. Anonymous11/6/18 09:56

Why do we always have to discuss Leonore's behaviour here?
By doing this and showing "concern" we draw even more attention to her behaviour and everything is more embarrasing!
Okay, she got tired and bored at the end of the ceremony. Happens. Most of the ceremony she behaved.
Leonore is not Estelle nor Oscar and its not fair to compare them.
It was clear all kids were tired...rubbing their eyes...there seemed to be hot in the church...even trained guards fainted.

    19. Geesh the Anon's are muy dramatico! I agree with you Pine!

Anon's NO ONE IS ripping apart a 4 yr old. But after 4 yrs of watching this child act up always, hit others, shove her parents, never obey and roll around in a cburch one has to wonder why there is no control? I would remove my child. I hate to compare but Estelle never behaved this way all the time. Even Sofia's younger children were more behaved. My children obviously struggled in a situation like this but ...I had things to entertain them and they knew the word NO. Leonore has a free spirit? Fine but even a free spirit needs rules. She is not exhibiting any signs of self control which she should be at 4. She acts the same at 2 3 and 4. Which is curious. I will not say anything about the whys...except they all laugh and ignore. So they are all either letting it run free and not stepping in with their parenting style or there is something we do not know... all I do know is if she is not learning self control in any manner now then at 13 she will be a handful. A 4 yr old should know not to roll around in the floor in church. Or strip down in church. Or choke a little one anywhere. Or smack away a parent repeatedly.
She is a beautiful little girl. I just think we as Mothers always notice these things and wonder and chat.

No one is bashing anyone. This is your interpretation ...2 of you in a midst of the rest of us.

Leonore could not even stand up for the/an official family photo after the christening. Really? Not even the photographer told her? And this photo is on kungahuset's website (unless there's a different photo they didn't use). She is four years old, for cryin' out loud! Do what you want at home, but in royal public learn to behave. Soon it'll be too late to correct this little gal.

Children are not logical, they act spontaneously and test boundaries. Yes, sometimes in public. Leonore was likely tired, bored, her schedule interrupted. To her, this was not a serious event for a princess. It was a comfortable joyful place in the company of her doting family and friends. She is too young to be expected to know the difference in what will be expected. I am sure her parents will say something to her in private, not in the middle of a televised baptism.

Two of my children had many such moments in public/church. One is a doctor, the other a professor and author. I overreacted with the first and it only caused harm and meltdowns. Just because this child was not acting in the rigid way you define as appropriate or approve of does not mean she must be disciplined or all is lost. You saw one moment in her life. Children are born with certain personalities. Her parents know best how to handle her and are doing a great job with a happy child. I doubt they need or care for advice.

They had no option at the time, They both had their hands full with another child. All cameras were on them. Disciplining her in public would likely have resulted in a bigger distraction, a very public meltdown and more “advice” and criticism. Ignoring attention seeking behaviour is actually best. If anything, either Grandma or an Aunt could have stepped in to distract her if they were concerned, they weren’t.

      Well said Anonymous 7:53PM.
Madeleine&Chris showed suprisingly good patience when handling three little children who were obviously out of their usual daily routine. I've seen too many public displays of hysterical mothers who scream at their child to behave but instead of making things better and calming the child, they make things worse-they have hysterically screaming and crying child who won't hear any reasoning.

Madeleine called Leonore to order and she listened but I did not see anyone else interfiering/helping out, so they must have been okay with everything happening. Don't quite understand all this fuss some have started.

PS: Princess Adrienne is very cute and sweet child.

  27. Madeleine looks exquisite--a perfect summer's day ensemble. In the 16th photo, of Madeleine holding Adrienne in the sunshine, you can see that the flowers chosen for her headpiece match the flowers in the fabric of her dress. Brilliant.

  28. One of the best looks from Madeleine. Love her soft floral dress, great colors and perfect to wear for girls christening. Flower band to keep her hair away from her face. She looked so beautiful and elegant.
Victoria...sigh. Oldfashioned dress, bad hairstyle and headpiece that accentuated her jaw in a bad way. Suddenly she looked...old. Dissapointing look. Perhaps she worried about her daughter?
Sofia..much better, lovely dress (even if a little wrinkly) and hairstyle. She's beautiful woman and looks more secure in her role. I was surprised that she and Carl Philip forgot to bow to the altar..
    Silvia .. Elegant as always.
Chris's mother, sisters and niece..they all looked lovely. Milana (woman in dark blue dress sitting behind Madeleine) is very pretty young woman with interesting features.

  29. Looks like a beautiful event. Everyone tried to put their best foot forward. Victoria’s choice is not my favourite (as far as I can tell, no one else likes it either). Lately her dress selection is rather surprising. I know she turned 40, however that is just a number, right?

Last thought from me: how many of those making comments about Leonore have more than one child? Just asking, so I know if you are judging based on your own experience or not.
