On June 19, Tuesday, Queen Maxima made a working visit to Radiotherapy/Proton Therapy Center of The University Medical Center (UMCG) in Groningen. Proton therapy is an innovative radiotherapy for cancer patients. UMCG is the first hospital to provide that therapy in The Netherlands since 2018 and in addition, it is the one and only hospital in The Netherlands to treat children with proton therapy. |
Good to see her back. I like this outfit very much. The fabric & structur, the cut and the colour. It is a 'down to earth' ensemble.
ReplyDeleteQueen Maxima lost her younger sister only 10 days ago, and here she is, back to work. She gave a very emotional speech about her sisters illness and passing, sharing her grieve and pain. Heartbreaking to watch. This woman has the caracter and strenght of a lioness. I hope for once all the usual criticism about her hair will be left alone.
ReplyDeleteSorry but everyone has to go back to work after such a tragedy. Maxima even had more time to mourn than normal people.
DeleteWhat a rude comment Iris. Her sister committed suicide. Queen or not, she's still in mourning and should be allowed to grieve for however long she wants.
DeleteI dont see why this is rude its just everydays life, i experienced myself. I can understand she is still sad of course but people dont have to be so admirable that she is back to work again.
DeleteIn addition to my previous comment: Every day people experience this and have to go back to work.
Delete@ Blair, I don't find Iris' comment rude. Of course everyone should have time to grief, but it's fact, most of the normal people who lost a relative, no matter if throu suicide or illness or accident, have to go back to work quickly, no matter if they feel like that or not.
DeleteMost people don't have a choice. I think, that'S all Iris wanted to say and she's right with it.
I like Maxima a lot, I'm really sorry for her loss and I think she is really a lion giving such a speech.
You are right Anna.
DeleteI found the words Maxima spoke very touching, that's for sure. They came from her heart, she had the words on paper in her hand.
Iris, you were not rude. Getting back into the "grind" helps. We used to deal with it and got on with our lives; now society seems to favor constant wallowing in mourning and then talk about "closure" (which never seems to come) - no wonder there's so much depression.
DeleteMáxima's speech was emotional and from her heart.
@ Iris @ Anna B. It's not rude but a careless statement, because not everyone has to mourn in public under the eyes of the media.
Delete@monty she works in public under the eyes of media so it's not that big difference to do so when she mourns, because she's used to the business with media. That she opens up so much in the speech, that's the big thing, not going back to work.
DeleteI work in a big hospital with a lot of colleagues and patients, no media, but also a lot 'under the eyes of a lot of people' and so is it with many other people. We have to learn to go on, also when we are very sad, and going back to usal business helps.
And media is Maximas usal business
I understand your argument but there's one crucial difference: the mass media are usually merciless.Personally I couldn't get used to it.
DeleteI've been reading this blog for long time, and can not remember that anyone has ever criticise her commitment, hard work, charisma and the way she carries her duties, however this is a fashion blog and hair and styling falls in this category, so if we talk about it is because this is the right place (and most of the times) tone to do so.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes her strengh is (buitengewoon) amazing, but her hair is just a mess!
I too admire her for her courage and everything she has been through recently with grace under pressure; I also really like this ensemble she is wearing and think that she looks very good in it. It's not fussy yet relatively normal and still stylish.
ReplyDeleteI'm sensing from the photos here (which may not be much to go by) that she may still be under some duress from recent events and hope that she takes the time she needs for herself before rushing back to work.
Good to see her back again - she may have had more time than many people but I think the first day back in the routine can be quite tough.
ReplyDeleteI don't have very strong feelings about the outfit either way but I don't like the alternative version with the long bronze trousers so I'm glad she has this version.
Condolences to her regarding her sister. I am sure it has been a tough time. While I like this color on her and the top is rather edgy and fun, I am not a fan of the skirt part. It makes her look bigger than she is. Maxima is a pretty woman who represents her country and many of us just wish she would take the time and effort to make her hair pretty like we know she can.
ReplyDeleteNot the greatest outfit but she is getting a passing grade, she is still morning her sister.
ReplyDeleteVery fabulous Queen Maxima
ReplyDeleteHeart wrenching about her sister; very brave to speak about her, and lovely to hear her Dutch. She is an amazing women; peace to The families.
