The son of Danish Prince Joachim and his former-wife Countess Alexandra, Prince Nikolai graduated from Herlufsholm Secondary School in Næstved near Copenhagen, and Prince Joachim, Princess Marie, Prince Felix and Countess Alexandra attended the traditional graduation party held at the school. At the graduation party, Princess Marie wore a new floral print silk skirt by Ganni. |
May Prince Nikolai become splendid Prince like his father, Prince Joachim in the future.
ReplyDeleteNikolai is pursing a career in modeling. Last week he walked the Dior runway show and he also walked in Burberry for London fashion week earlier this year.
ReplyDeleteMale model career? If he was not a 'prince', he would not have the glimpse of a chance. He is not even good looking. I happen to know many 18 year old who look much better with more charisma.
DeleteI was shocked at it too Beth. He's been signed to a modelling agency in Denmark.
DeleteI think it's kinda sad that the younger generation of royals are pursuing careers in modelling/socialites/basically celebrities, rather than going to college and getting a proper education.
But it's their choice.
If you go online there's shirtless photos of Nikolai for his modelling portfolio and he also was on Dior's instagram page, speaking in English about the fashio show or something.
That is your opinion. I think he looks very good..
DeleteHe is not persueing a modeling career.
DeleteHe wants to join the army.
But he has to earn his own money. He will not receive allowance from the state.
And if somebody wants to pay him for being a model - why shouldn't he accept?
He is very handsome with a very distinct look.
Remember - envy is a very bad thing......
I think he's a good looking young man with quite a distinctive look that fits in quite well with other young male models. His younger brother, also good looking, is more "conventional" in looks and I don't think could get away with modelling.
DeleteBut as far as I'm aware it's just a part-time thing and not his idea of a future career.
Estrid, yes he is indeed a model. He is signed to Scoop modelling agency in Denmark. They've confirmed it.So get your facts straight.
DeleteWhy would anyone be envious of an 18 year old boy? For God's sake some of the comments on this blog are ridiculous and absurd.
I think he is quite goodlooking.
DeleteHe is correct in to earn his own money instead of being more a parasite. He won't be king. He is being worthy. To be a model not prevent him from studying at a college, if he want. It has male models that are not even that handsome. He isn't ugly.
DeleteBlair - stop yourself!
DeleteYou act like an arrogant know-it-all - though you know nothing.
Did I say, he isn't a model? No - but I did say, he wasn't PERSUEING a carreer as one.
He will join the army shortly, though - like his Dad and uncle.
Well apparently there was a bit of drama at the ceremony.
ReplyDeleteThere's a video of Jochaim, Marie and Nikolai posing for photos. Alexandra walks up and pushes Marie's arm off Nikolai and then puts her arm around him and starts posing for photos.
Just apparently... Don't forget, it's a fashion blog.
DeleteSometimes topics are discussed on this blog other than fashion. It's not a big deal. I really wish people would stop trying to police this blog.
DeleteLovely family. Just, I don't know, garden party it is, but Alexandra, really?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't wear a strapless, VERY low decolleté for my son's graduation......
DeleteAgree!!!!
DeleteIn the backgrounds of the photos the viewer can see men in tuxes w/bow ties and long shadows. This appears to be a late afternoon/evening event. That said, I think the bodice on the dress of the Countess is inappropriate. The event is about the graduates, not a singles mixer. I will stop there so my comment doesn't get vetoed. The print on the fabric is nice. Marie's outfit is nice, too. I like the caps the graduates are wearing.
ReplyDeleteNot usually liking the uneven hem of skirts, but Marie looks nice in this skirt, maybe because the top is minimal with a busy longer skirt. Alexandra appears to be falling out of her dress in many pics (some not posted here thankfully). Marie looks classy here, Alexandra looks...not, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that. I would think her son would be embarrassed.
DeleteI looked at the video - the fault was Jochaim's and especially Marie's. This was the main press video, not private family snaps, and Marie was usurping the mum's position - she should have been standing on the other side of her husband and Alexandra should have been included. Alexandra went and stood next to her son -- which was correct. No reason for Marie not to be there - but she should have made certain her position was secondary.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! Alexandra is the mum not Marie! But it seems that Marie doesn't like to have a secondary position. I think that it happened the same during the boys' solenned confirmation, as far as I remember...
DeleteI don't agree but even if I did Alexandra's reaction was as lacking in grace as her dress is in class.
DeleteIt was the second event that graduation day! By daytime, when Nikolai graduated, only mom Alexandra, dad Joachim and Felix were there! Marie came first together with Joachim in the evening to celebrate Nikolai.
DeleteNikolai welcome Marie:

Both Marie's beach top (she needs a bra) and Alexandras deess (!) were not suitable for this student event, just saying. ;-)
Totally agree, Franny.
DeleteAbsurd.
DeleteThere was no "fight" between the two ladies over Prince Nicolai.
In every situation ever since Marie married Prince Joachim, she has been a perfect bonus-Mom.
She seems to have tackled her husbands 2 sons very well.
Marie's outfit looks just right for this occasion, not over or under stated. Alexandra's dress would have looked better at a party in the evening, not for a Graduation. Is she trying to say something with this?. Sadly to say Nikolai's pant legs are too short, either he grew or grabbed the wrong one.
ReplyDeleteAlexandra is gekleed voor een gala, niet voor een schoolbezoek. En boven veel te bloot, staat niet voor die gelegenheid.
ReplyDeleteMarie looks lovely here - I don't normally particularly notice what she's wearing but I think this pretty.
ReplyDeleteI like the print on Alexandra's dress and I don't think that the full length dress is out of place judging by other outfits but she does look a bit "boobalicious" at this event.
LOL boobalicious!
DeleteI think Marie needed a different top. A silk camisole is not appropriate for a daytime event. Especially a graduation.
DeleteAnd like another commenter stated, she needs a bra.
Neither ladies put their best forward in my opinion.
I believe it was a late afternoon or early evening event and judging by the other guests formal wear and cocktail style seemed to be the order of the day.
DeleteFrom the photoes here, is seems like in many other families, some composition and some jelousy between mum and stepmum. Quite normal :-)
ReplyDeleteWow! Malice at the palace when all dressed up. I'm looking for the video on Youtube, which happens to be where I saw videos of Joachim's and Marie's wedding. IMO, the boys were very young at the time of their father's second wedding and Marie filled a maternal void. Sometime between being the observers snapping cellphone pictures at the ceremony and the family gathering for group photos, Alexandra's dress slipped a lot! Her dress slipped and she was rough w/Marie...what was in her beverage?
ReplyDeleteFashionwise a desaster at all levels. Alexandra's 'boobilicious' party dress is definetely the wrong choice for a school graduation. And what is this with the uneven hems this year? These hems make any skirt look terrible. Also the pattern of Marie's skirt is not nice and her top doesn't fit. Joachims ill fitting white cocktail blazer looks old fashioned and the unbottuned shirt looks more like 'beachparty' than an official event. People in the background look much more poised, most of the gentlemen wear bow ties and the women wear sophisticated short day dresses.
ReplyDeleteNikolai has obviously grown out of his trousers :-))) This happened to us. We bought our son a beautiful dark blue suit for his graduation day three months in advance. But young men that age can still grow ;-)) On the evening before the graduation day he tried it on ....and he had grown out 😂 We had one hour left to rush into town and buy a new suit. We are not rich people, but we managed it, because we wanted him to look his best on his special day. Was there nobody there to look after Nikolai? Yes, he is eighteen and a 'grown up'. But they still need some help at that age, don't they?
And for the 'awkward moment'....Patchwork families are not easy. I live in one myself. We spend most family celebrations together. But thank God our new partners are wise enough to know when it's time to take one step back. And I am wise enough not to intervenere in situations that belong to the new family.
This Blog has taught me a lot. Not only about fashion. But how people are born into a role, but they still have to grow into that role.
I don’t know much about men’s fashion, but could it be that Nikolai’s trousers are supposed to be short and a part of the whole outfit with the double buttoned jacket?
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the comments I decided to take a better look at the picture of the 4 of them together. I agree that the Countess’s dress is not appropriate for this occasion. Marie looks nice but her top does not fit well but I like the skirt on her even though I am not a fan of the short and long lengths together. As for the men, what on earth is Joachim wearing and the graduate looks like his pants hem need taken down. I hear he is a model so quite possibly this is the exact look he was going for.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was looking at the photos and thinking what a nice "blended" (our current equivalent word for patchwork) family at the boy's graduation. Liked the outfits, though I can see why the criticisms are made and thought the pic (number 6)of Joachim standing with wife on one side and ex wife on the other was great Likewise Nicolai standing proudly with Mum on one side and step mum on the other. Sometimes it's nicer not too go looking for trouble!!
ReplyDeleteFrom a fashion (and bra!) perspective the event is indeed a disaster. Now honestly I am not exclusively interested in fashion, which would be a bit boring to me. I am interested in looking at how royals do their job as représentatives or ambassadeurs of their country, that includes of course a lot of things as kindness, politeness, charisma, and yes also appearance. And of course avoiding clashes, problems.
