King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia of Spain came to Washington, DC yesterday for a one day visit. The King and the Queen were welcomed by Protocol Chief Ambassador Sean P. Lawler of United States of America at Andrews Air Base. Today, the King and the Queen met with President Donald Trump of USA and First Lady Melania Trump at the White House. Queen Letizia wore a pink dress by Michael Kors |
Two beautiful ladies, beautifully dressed -- a really lovely occasion, and may the friendship continue!
ReplyDeleteThese ladies were born to be friends.
DeleteAgree, two very beautiful dressed ladys. Everything is right with these ladies. They have that certain something.
DeleteSo I know it isn't a competition but Letizia wins this for me. Love the colour and simplicity of her dress and that she has chosen an American designer.
ReplyDeleteMelania's dress is fine but I've seen her wearing other dresses I preferred. Also her hair seems a bit heavy around her face in some of these pictures.
Love how they're both rocking those sharp stiletto heels.
While I am not usually a fan of large print dresses, I like this dress on Melania, perhaps her height and way it fits makes it look good. Letizia looks good. The color and fit of the dress are attractive for her. It is interesting that Melania wore this same Michael Kors styled dress(just in lavender without a belt) last June 2017 when meeting the President of Panama and his wife. Melania looked great in the dress too, classic style!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Letizia !
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful and elegant ladies!
ReplyDeleteMichael Kors and Valentino outdid them self's once again beautiful dresses for two classy Ladies. Great to see them at the White House. Hope they had a good time together.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I have to say this all seems so trivial given what is happening on the borders.
ReplyDeleteI like Letizia's dress, she looks pretty but it's a bit too simple. Both ladies look nice, but I'll give the points to Melania.
DeleteHeather, if you are so concerned about the tragedy at the border (as many of us are) why are you reading this blog, and leaving a comment stating that it's trivial? There are many forums available to opine about the policies of the American Givernment. Also, I am sure that there are horrible tragedies in this world every minute, and I can guarantee you that we empathize with our fellow humans, and yet we are also able to read a fashion blog and enjoy a little levity.
DeleteAgree with you.
DeleteAgreed. No comment on this thread from me.
DeleteCouldn't agree more Heather.
DeleteCould not agree more!
DeleteRoyalty fan
DeleteHeather, why don't you go to Facebook, Twitter, I'll gladly agree with you there
You are correct that politics is not for this forum (although this more a moral issue than politics, maybe, but that's also inappropriate here) but it just upset me to see all these smiles under the circumstances. I wish we could just have seen the king and queen - which is why I'm here.
DeleteI for one am glad BOTH ladies are included, which is standard for a royal meeting the head of state for another nation on this and any other fashion blog. They BOTH look lovely.
DeleteWe all want to help one another. Human Beings are like that.
DeleteWe want to live by each other´s happiness, not by each other´s misery. CP
The ladies look very nice. I see I'm not the only one prone to think of politics. Then again, while Felipe was here in the US, there was an announcement that the African refugees floating at sea would be accepted in Spain. It would be very appropriate if there were a dialogue about the Central American exodus happening and it would be very appropriate if Spain could help. Unfortunately, those meetings and negotiations aren't usually announced as occurring until some progress is made.
DeleteI am also glad both ladies are included here. When royalty meets with heads of state, many of us want to see what is worn by both. Enough social media sites out there for your political/moral critiques, use those. Keep this about fashion!
DeleteToday's fashion was very low key for both ladies. They looked fantastic and have skillfully kept the chatter about duels to a minimum. Melania for instance is wearing a dress that mimics the block print dress worn by Letizia on her last trip to the WH. Letizia is wearing a dress that Melania owns in another color. Simple but elegant looks. Letizia seems to have enjoyed the trip.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great observation about their subtle compliments towards one another's style! I had no idea...
DeleteImpresionante Melania.
Y?
DeleteBoth ladies look great. @ 6:41. In the same few lines Letizia marked...but Melania who owns the same dress awesome. Next will come a list of colours unsuitable for a queen. Oh dear!
DeleteQEII wore pink chewing gum to Ascot today! If we believe 6:41 she has made a faux pas....and she has been reading the book of protocol for at least the last 90 years!
DeleteAnonymous @ 4:26 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

ReplyDeleteLetizia's dress is almost a modern version of the dress that Diana had on on her last public event, also the pink, and with a belt
Letizia looks so pretty in her pink dress, its fits her pefectly. Also loving her hair. Very simple and elegant.
ReplyDeleteMelanie's dress looks also lovely. Didn't like her hairstyle nor her bored face.
Since King Felipe has many good memories of studying at georgetown University in Washington DC. It must have been a great end for a perfect trip for King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain meeting President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at the White House.
ReplyDelete@Yumiko - oh, yes, that is true. Thank you for this information and for your sympathetic comments. I love reading them.
DeleteThank you very much for your comments. I am very glad to see a wonderful and friendly bilateral relations between US and Spain.
DeleteClassy outfits on both Ladies. Well done (and the men look not so bad either!).
ReplyDeleteAgree...the men are indeed handsome!
DeleteA bit curious what the whole meeting is about. I do like Melania’s dress; restyle of hair would be nice. Men.. tall/ skinny, medium high/XL.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Politics should be on any of these blogs. In that case a new one has to be formed.Sadly to say there is HELL on Earth every where. And all of them are MEN made, never forget that.
ReplyDeletePorque las mujeres están hablando de ropa, hahaha
DeleteAngie, qué finamente te expresas...
El estampado del vestido de Valentino son hojas de PALMA
ReplyDeleteLetizia looks beautiful. Stop trying to convince people to like her outfit. She did a good job with this entire outfit.
ReplyDelete@5:08 ?
Perhaps the dress served as an ice breaker because she had never met her hosts. Making a connection with people at this level cannot be easy especially if it will probably be once in a lifetime and only for a few minutes. Mrs. Trump's dress of white print on dark background is of course purely accidental if you look at what the queen wore on her last visit to the White House. Some forms of diplomacy are outside of anything we understand, but if one is more holy than the Pope then the book of protocol forbids many things including some colors.
