Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg attended the opening of 'Kaddish' Monument built in memory of Holocaust victims of Luxembourg. The monument built by French-Israeli sculptor Shelomo Selinger who survived death camps has been erected at the square near the old Hagia Sophia building in Roosevelt Boulevard. The Grand Ducal Couple then attended the opening of a plaque that tells 75th anniversary of departure of the last train for deportation of Jews from Luxembourg. Before the war, there were nearly 3.500 Jews in Luxembourg and it is known that only 36 of them survived Nazi violence. |
