On June 4, 2018, Countess Sophie of Wessex attended a Service of Dedication for a new memorial to nurses who served in the two World Wars at the National Memorial Arboretum in Lichfield. The Nursing Memorial Appeal was launched in 2011 to recognise and remember the 1,500 nurses who gave their lives during WW1 and WW2. The Countess of Wessex is Patron of The Nursing Memorial Appeal and Colonel-in-Chief of Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. |
This is really a nice dress the stripes a little busy this little cardigan does nothing for her, maybe a short blazer in one of the color stripes would have done better but she looks good anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe dress isn’t terrible...but it is horrendous with that cardigan.
ReplyDeleteOh dear... the red cardigan does not seem to go with the dress.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see Sophie in this dress with (at most) a lovely scarf or shawl for a wrap. I wonder if the day turned unexpectedly chilly, hence the cardigan?
ReplyDeleteShe does love to wear a cardigan most of the time. The dress looks like a mistake, not attractive, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I really like Sophie, but not her dress this time.
DeleteSophie likes a little cardigan even if it adds absolutely nothing to an outfit. Shame - beautiful dress, pretty cardigan, just not made for each other.
ReplyDeleteBut she's great anyway...
I wonder, if England is the only place in Northern Europe, where it isn't really hot summer at the moment? Sophie's outfit together looks very autumnal !
ReplyDeleteWonderful memorial and they got the best English royal for this engagement. She looks very pretty in this dress, just wish the cardigan had been a color from the dress. Sophie is so genuine and unpretentious, the family is lucky to have her.
ReplyDeleteDangerous dress for someone with the Sophie 's siluet (that is like mine)
ReplyDeleteBut I like Sophie she is always so graceful
The dress is too long and too much fabric. The cardigan looks awful with it.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fun idea for a dress. I like the colour and the material and the design idea. It is too long though for the fun, young summer dress it´s meant to be. Looks too heavy on her. Make it knee-length and I would adore this.
ReplyDeleteThe cardigan was a bad idea. Wrong colour, wrong style, total clash.
PS 1: I wonder if the back of the dress is one solid colour? Looks almost like it, and would be a pity if so (sofa cushion effect...)
PS 2: I don´t know how many times I´ve written "make it knee-length" but it begs repeating in these times of midi-length-hype. I find it unflattering in 99% of cases.
it is not just the bad combination of the dress and this cardigan. It is very unflattering at the waist. She needs different undergarments as well as the line is very visible.
ReplyDeleteoh I love her style!
ReplyDeletethe dress is very nice and the cardigan, too!
First I thought the cardigan doesn't fit the dress exactly but the longer I look on it, the more I like the combination.
The length of the dress is very nice, I think that length gets a revival this times.
I don't like the dress and the cardigan is a totally different colourway, not to Sophie's usual standard.
