Meghan looks absolutely stunning, no messy bun, beautiful dress! But what on earth has princess Michael of Kent on for a hat, or fascinator??

    2. Beautiful blue colour n fabric of Beatrice(?); what a gentleman/ jockey kissing M.Meaghan’s hand.

  2. I don't like the hemline of Meghan's dress but the rest is fine - it's the right size, the colour suits her and I like the funky hat.

Sophie looks great as do the Queen and Camilla. I even quite like what Beatrice and Eugenie are wearing although I find Eugenie's hat a bit squashed looking.

Princess Michael's hat is interesting - it's a bit like she has a yacht on her head.

  3. All eyes on Meghan's first Royal Ascot. I do love her very much. Not so much for the dress but at-least she is being consistent with white over sized dresses.

Generally speaking, all the Royal ladies look lovely. The theme seems to be 'simple and elegant' this year, meaning the absence of fussy.
The shirt dress is nice but not what I'd have thought for Royal Ascot. Too plain/ordinary perhaps? Not sure what's going on around the belt area.. whether that's embossed embroidery (nice) or just plain creasing (terrible). But Meghan wears the dress well and looks fine.
The Queen, Camilla, Sophie, Anne, and even the York sisters look wonderful.
Princess Michaels hat looks like it just emerged from it's cocoon and is about to fly off to the nearest flower.

Now that we can see better photos of the York sisters, may I add how much I like Eugenie's overall ensemble style, and especially her hat with the pale blue tassel peeking over the brim. It's a different, older, more mature look for her and it's nice to see her experimenting with these styles now and again as she heads towards marriage, even though she's still a young person.

  5. I love the first photo of Anne and her mother! Such a nice moment. And Meghan looks wonderful. Dress is flowing and feminine but also crisp. The design has a summer ease. I love her hat--very stylish but frames and showcases her features beautifully. Mostly, I am glad to see her and Harry in lovely moments of shared happiness at being together.

Eccentricities are on as usual, Meghan integrated beautifully in the game.

  7. The Wueen looks amazing! Love Nikko Blue hydrangeas! Megan looks lovely except for the dark blush again which makes her face look harsh. She has a lovely natural complexion so don’t know why the aging dark makeup.

I disagree, I find this yellow horrible, I don't understand she can wear such a colour. I am aware that such colours are supposed to make her more easily visible, but still..

Viel Spaß in Ascot!

MM's dress is once again too big for her size and the jagged hemline does not help. I do like her hat. Sophie looks beautiful. While her dress is also a fuller style, it fits her body and does not overwhelm her. Sophie's hat is exquisite!

  13. The Queen looked lovely in her light yellow dress and hat. Known for her love of horses she has probably many of her own horses competing on the racecourse. Alonghside with her is Princess Anne who opted for a neutral tone. Camilla matched the Queen in a pale yellow outfit and a beautiful smile.
Princess Beatice looked summery in a pale blue jacquard dress and a matching hat. Eugenie wore bridal white kimono-style coat dress and her makeup was just perfect. They got it right.
The Countess of Wessex paired her lilac dress with a matching hat.
Meghan looked perfect, she opted for a white shirt dress, black-and-white hat and a pair of diamond earrings. She paired her look with black belt and black clutch bag.
And last but not least Harry and Prince Edward wore top hats and morning suits, in keeping with the Royal Enclosure's dress code. Everybody did quite well.

Her Majesty and Sophie are the best dressed IMO. Even the York princesses look great and they are wearing properly fitting dresses (also with hemlines that benefit their figures). Megan’s hat is stunning. Can’t say the same about the dress. I don’t think it suits her that much, and her desire to be understated notwithstanding, it looks borderline too informal for an event that requires top hats and morning suits. I suppose others more informed than me would have given her the green light, so that’s fine, of course.

  17. Didn't expect to say that, but Beatrice really looks fantastic! Nice colour, nice dress, nice hat.
Of course the queen looks gorgeous and Camilla and Sophie look very good.

I don't like Meghans dress much.
It's not a catastrophe, it's not an 'omg', just don't like it.

I must say the Q looked great the yellow is like a ray of sunshine, with a little blue sky mixed in. Pss today looked really good the coat and hat are nice. I liked Meghan's dress, but not the uneven hem,the hat is good. Beatrice and Eugene's dress were nice and the hats too. The black contrast on the Css.of Wessex dress looks really nice so the smaller hat.Pss Michael's hat looks like a crashed flying saucer the dress is okay. Dss Camilla always looks good, maybe should try some stronger colors for this event.

  19. Meghan's dress is way too casual for Ascot. The hat is more exciting but at odds with this dress. I'm amazed Givenchy put this together! Meghan might not know better but they should. The Duchess of Cambridge's presence is sorely missed in my opinion, we need her to spice up this blah group!

  20. Wait, where are the York sisters (apart from a back view in the carriage)? Am I missing photos?
I don't like Meghan's dress because I hate shirt waists but she does look nice and cool. The hat is cute.

    1. I was wondering the same thing and I just saw an article about that. It said she had one in her hand at some point but did not wear it. The article said the Royal ladies take their lead from the Queen but I don’t know about that...

    2. Anonymous20/6/18 03:56

She's not the only one without a name tag Camilla and the York sisters don't have one either

    3. She does. She fixed it to her clutch bag.

    4. Anonymous20/6/18 05:21

She had a name tag like everyone else is required to (except the Queen who is not required to have one) and was seen holding it in her hand. Speculation is that she didn't wear it as the pin would cause damage marks to the fabric of her dress. Don't know how true that reason is but I guess it's plausible. Camilla didn't wear hers either but she carried one about on her somewhere.

    5. Anonymous20/6/18 06:14

Not everybody has a name tag, namely the York sisters , Camilla, Princess Anne, and so on, and so on.
Why do you only notice MM?

    6. anonymous@2:43 - I also wondered why do you only notice Meghan not having name tag, while there are so many other royal ladies there without a name tag?

My favorites were Sohpie and Bea! The blue color suited Bea so well, and the cut and fit - great!

I can usually predict what is going to be said here. In this case, I knew I would see many negative comments about Meghan. I am going to believe this is due to the fact that not everyone that posts here is fashion savvy. Meghan's dress is lovely, including the hem. I find it sad that she is put down for not dressing like she is 20 years older than her actual age. I, for one, am happy she is keeping some of her own personality (messy bun included). The monarchy will survive.

    1. I think Meghan looks perfect here. I love the dress and the hem adds a little pizazz to the look. The white is crisp and summery and the hat is beautiful on her. I wouldn’t change a thing about her outfit. The other ladies with the exception of Princess Michael look great too.

    2. I don't understand your feelings, anonymous.
Fashion was never a "there's one rule for everybody in the world if something is nice or not" thing.
It's nice that you like the dress, but it's also acceptable that other people don't like her way of style. This is nothing against the person.

The comment wasn't about this particular dress, it is about Meghan's style in general. And the fact that I will open this blog and I can almost guarantee criticism of Meghan. Her style has a more modern/American flair, and it does seem to bother many royal watchers. (Fashion editors are cheering her on in the US.) She has left a world where younger ladies usually don't wear stockings, and women don't wear hats the way she has to now. She is also integrating her own style into a royally appropriate wardrobe. I still don't understand the comments about her being inappropriate for showing her shoulders when days later Sophie's dress was so low cut she was showing cleavage in some shots. I'm not sure why she is judged more hashly, but it has been one month and I think she is doing great.

  25. Meghan looks very good, fresh, happy and beautiful, also her best hat so far. Overall almost all of them look good, York sisters are way more better than usual (if Eugenie had tilted her hat more that would be suberb look). Only one who is not her best is Princess Michael. I had to check how old she is, 73, but she looks here mentally older than The Queen. That hat is SO weird and put on totally wrong way.

What ever you think about British Royal Family one thing is for sure - the fashion is not their cup of tea. Now Meghan has a quite classic and modern style, maybe a little bit American, but I think that's how it should be. She is American by origins and has every right to be proud of that. That England Rose -style British Royals are so stuck in looks very old fashion. For the older ladies like Queen and Camilla it is totally ok, but I think the new generation really needs something modern.

    1. I think Meghan is stylish, modern and elegant - there are the odd things she's trying while she settles into her role but I think she's looked mostly great and used a variety of designers.

However, I don't agree that the BRF isn't into fashion - they frequently wear pieces by name designers. Beatrice and Eugenie are modern - they wear some very trendy clothes but many people don't like them/they don't suit them.

I think Sophie and Catherine look great - Sophie is a bit more experimental than Catherine, but then I've always found Catherine to be quite conventional in her tastes.

I don't see an English rose old-fashioned look at all, certain customs might seem outmoded but I really can't see that they aren't modern in clothing choices for the events they attend.

    2. I agree and I hope Meghan keeps some of her American taste. She has a good eye for what works for her but I can see that she has made to make some adjustments and will continue to do so.

  28. Love Meghan and Sophie's ensembles, both very elegant.
