King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the first final session of the Queen Elisabeth Competition for Voice 2018 at the BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. (Each year the Queen Elizabeth Competition is about a different discipline. This year it is singing; in 2019 it will be the violin, in 2020 the piano and in 2021 the cello). Queen Mathilde wore a printed dress from Dries Van Noten SS 2018 collection |
Oh my, normally I adore a one-shoulder gown on Mathilde, but this one looks a little too informal for the occasion, rather like a beach sarong -- and imo that print is ghastly.
ReplyDeleteTrue. beach wear
DeleteI agree Jane!
DeleteAgree! But I like her hairstyle!
DeleteOh my 🤤 I have expect King Kong to jump out and carry her off
ReplyDeleteWOW in a bad wow way
Amen
DeleteThe gown is refreshing and different. They are a good looking couple. The statue in the background is dressed up for the occasion, too!
ReplyDeleteThe statue in the back is representing Queen Elizabeth. That's why we speak about the Queen Elizabeth competition for voice 2018 ( read the info above). She was the one who started this brilliant competition thus the orchids on her statue as a hommage.
DeleteMathilde can get away with this dress, she is tall enough. The print is way to busy, her hair and makeup are good the shoes and bag are not bad either, but like I said way to busy print.
ReplyDeleteI agree on almost anything, however for me the problem is the yellowish colour which in my view is always a difficult one. With softer colours it would be perfect.
DeleteShe looks lovely
ReplyDeleteShe looks stunning
ReplyDeleteStunning! I like Dries van Noten very much - best of Belgian fashion design.
ReplyDeleteSHE LOOKS STUNNING-A LITTLE DIFFERENT BUT NICE
ReplyDeleteI too am liking liking Mathilde in this look very much. The perfect mix of a familiar style that we know she wears well together with a quirky, unusual colour and pattern (chartreuse is not easy to wear). Her tall slender frame and lovely smile pulls off the van Noten design beautifully, like a Spring cocktail: looks interesting but tastes even better.
ReplyDeleteLovely. She looks great in the one shoulder dress and the hair is great - much more youthful than that bouffant style she usually wears.
ReplyDeleteNice dress but it doesn't work with Queen Mathilde's coloring. This dress needs to be worn by a woman with dark brown skin and black hair, then it'll look amazing.
ReplyDeleteI don´t mind the dress, but I agree that it´s not the right colours for her. The pattern is a bit stark, but can be done. For me, it´s the yellow shoes that disturb me the most. They are too much for an already unusual outfit.
ReplyDeleteI like it!
