On April 25, 2018, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended an service of commemoration and thanksgiving to mark Anzac Day in Westminster Abbey in London. Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the World War. |
Nice. Sober but neat and elegant. Maybe the hair would better up with that particular hat but I think overall she looks good.
ReplyDeleteThis suit checks all the boxes for form and function so no fault there. From the photos I've seen on other blogs, she looks older and a bit matronly, but it's still a safe choice and no one can criticize her for errors of decorum. The mix of light greys and blacks for the dawn service were better imo.
DeleteThis is an appropriate outfit too!
ReplyDeleteIs she learning?
You are learning fast.Starting to look like a lady of British upper class society 💕
ReplyDeleteLove the suit! Styling, texture, etc. Will check back for info on the designer.
ReplyDeleteMeghan Markle, Harry and William... Since when the name of Meghan appears before the name of the Princes???
ReplyDeleteFollowing protocol it shouldn't. But as I'm here to look at her fashion and couldn't remotely care about what the Princes are wearing it suits me...
DeleteElegant and stylish, a retro look, very nice.
ReplyDeleteMarvellous: hat , clutch, shoes, cut and fabric of this ensemble. A mix of the 1940 & 1950, I think. And...a long day for Miss Markle. She will rock it!
ReplyDeleteLove the suit, hate the hat.
ReplyDeleteI am not disappointed - no wrong - Perfection !
ReplyDeleteThis is a great outfit, she looks really good in it ")
ReplyDeleteNice style. >>A mix of the 1940 & 1950<< as @CatchTheScoop said. The look would look much better with an updo, a soft, not messy ;-)))) bun, a big low bun slightly asymmetric, drawn to the other side than the cap. Unfortunately wrong shoes, stiletto pumps don't work with that style. If you wear a retro dress, wear some retro style shoes. Please!
ReplyDeleteAs always, Beth, you put your finger on what I couldn't figure out that bothered me - the shoes! I love the outfit though💗
DeleteShe is so beautiful but I really don't care for her in that black outfit, I find it too boxy for her petite frame. I can see she is trying to get it right and it is an appropriate outfit but does not suit her.
ReplyDeleteThis hem length works on Meghan when she's wearing a fuller skirt. When it's a straight skirt, it just looks weird!
ReplyDeleteThe black dress today is just right for the occasion, hat shoes and bag everything matching fine. The outfit from a few days ago, gray coat and wide brim hat looked really good. On one headshot you see her face frontal, I must say she has beautiful eyes . Good job Meghan.
ReplyDeleteI like the hat and jacket. Skirt - not so much. For a properly balanced silhouette, this look really needed a fuller skirt, much like on the model.
ReplyDeleteAlthough this outfit is very elegant, it's way too somber for my taste. I appreciate the cut and the retro style, but I don't like the end result.
ReplyDeleteOverall I like this outfit but I think the skirt is too long which makes it look frumpy. The hat's lovely. Love the first photo of Meghan with William and Harry when we're so used to seeing the threesome of William, Kate and Harry. Interaction with William in 3rd pic is sweet. Three good outfits this week so far. Wow. Things are looking up!
ReplyDeleteBest combination so far, well done.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of this outfit at all. The style, the skirt, the skirt length, the heavy looking fabric (even if it isn't heavy) makes her look dowdy and 20 years older than she is. This look might work for a Sophie Wessex or one of the septuagenarian Queens but for a young, bright, fashion forward woman like she is, there are far better choices at her disposal that would have fit the bill as well as her style and figure perfectly. Her ensemble at the dawn service was much better.
ReplyDelete@ Anonymus, very good observations. I understand the idea behind it, kind of a forties approach. But the details are just not right. The skirt is too long, the fabric is wrong, it looks like a cheap polyester, puffy and bulky. And as I said above, wrong shoes. Most people dont understand how important the shoes are to complete a look and wear the same old boring pointed highheel pumps no matter what the outfit ist. The wrong shoe kills a look.
DeleteA also think Meghan looked much better when she dressed in her own style. Now there is obviously a stylist involved that makes things worse.
Thanks Beth and I agree with your comments too, not only on this post but on all other posts on this blog. You have a good eye for balance, and a good understanding of making the best use of ones natural attributes. I rarely post I just read, but also agree with your point about shoes, here and otherwise. She'd look great in some square toed, thicker heeled pumps in general. Yes, it seems that she has a stylist now, and I'm thinking that this outfit was an overly conservative reaction at damage control.
DeleteI also hope to see more of her fresh, individual style in the future, guided but not stifled by her stylist. She has the looks and the figure (as well as the brains and charming personality) to turns heads, and with a forthcoming high profile position that does not come with any constraints of queenly duty and image, she has the potential to bring a new style to royal fashion in stunning, beautiful, modern ways. Fingers crossed.
She is so pretty and she looks pretty darn good here!!
ReplyDeleteThe hat, it's not quite right. And the outfit would be much better if she would have spent some time with a tailor.
