Name of new Princess of Sweden is Adrienne Josephine Alice

On March 12, 2018, Monday, on the occasion of the birth of Princess Madeleine's daughter, a cabinet meeting was held at the Royal Palace in Stockholm city of Sweden. Crown Princess Victoria also attended the meeting. At the meeting, King Carl Gustaf of Sweden declared to the Cabinet that name of new princess of Sweden who is the third child of Princess Madeleine and Christopher O'Neill will be Adrienne Josephine Alice. The title of "Duchess of Blekinge" was given to the Princess.

    I don't like the name. What is the meaning? Was she named after someone important? Leonore and Madeleine are beautifun names. I expected something similar..

      "Her Royal Highness Princess Adrienne Josephine Alice, Duchess of Blekinge, in a Council of State meeting. Adrienne is a name loved by Madeleine and Chris, while Josephine is a traditional Bernadotte family name and also happens to be Madeleine’s fourth name. Alice is the name of Adrienne’s maternal great-grandmother, Alice Sommerlath, Queen Silvia’s mum."

      I read that they picked Adrienne because Chris and Madeleine both liked the name. Josephine is one of Madeleine's names and that name is traditional for a Swedish princess and the name Alice is Queen Silvia's mother's name.

    Lovely names. It seems, Madeleine goes for the french way finding names for her daughters. Josephine, maybe because of 200 years Bernadotte Dynastie and Alice, because it is the name of the great-grandmother? Have a good life, little Adrienne!!!
