On January 16, 2018, Princess Stephanie of Monaco attended the soft-opening of 42nd International Circus Festival In Monte-Carlo held in Monaco. The International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo (Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo), is an annual festival held since 1974 in Monte Carlo. The Festival is now held each year in mid-January. Princess Stéphanie is the supporter and patron of Circus Festival. |
It's awful to see a wild animal tied up like that. You would think such circuses would have been closed down by now.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Heather, it's terrible to see this, I want to cry to see these beautiful animals not walk in the wild.

ReplyDeletetotally agree
ReplyDeleteCes animaux devraient être libres! Ces spectacles n'ont plus leur raison d'être. Plus maintenant!
ReplyDeleteMore circuses are doing without animals, or even closing. I want to see the day when not a single animal is used in a circus, but this is not the place to go about it. Only when people will boycott the circuses in enough numbers will things start to happen.
ReplyDeleteI hate the circus. I prefer animals in their natural environment.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand most of the comments. If they care for the animals and the animals aren't forced to do something unnatural in the show, the life of these animals isn't worse than in a zoo. If we aren't careful, many animals in the wild do not survive anyway.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, Stephanie of Monaco is committed to animal welfare. Anyway a difficult topic - pets and farmed animals included.
It is unnatural for a wild animal to be in a circus, in fact it is just appalling that it is supported by the Royal family
DeleteWhy did she not dress up? Everybody knows that circus people wear fancy costumes, and she shows up in jeans and sweater?
ReplyDeleteNot the official opening - she does this kind of casual dressed down "I'm just helping with the set up" photo call when the Big Top goes up.
DeleteThank you for this information, Franny!
DeleteThere are wonderful animal-free "circuses", such as Canada's famous Cirque du Soleil.
ReplyDeleteI am Canadian but find Cirque du Soleil boring and very, very overrated. There has to be a happy medium somewhere.
