Sophie, Countess of Wessex today celebrates her 53rd birthday. Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones was born at Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, on 20 January 1965, the second child and first daughter of Christopher Bournes Rhys-Jones and his wife, Mary. Sophie is the wife of Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The Earl and Countess of Wessex have two children: James, Viscount Severn, and Lady Louise Windsor. Happy Birthday Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

    My favorite of the British royals. She is unassuming, hard working, has a very pleasant face and smile. She is a large feather in the family hat.
