Bangladesh visit of Countess Sophie of Wessex continues. On November 20, the Countess visited Sher-e Bangla Medical College and Hospital in Barisal in order to monitor the activities of medical screening and diagnosis project supported by Trust, that has been started for the purpose of early diagnosis of diabetes. |
On November 21, the Countess of Wessex attended a wreath-laying ceremony held by Commonwealth War Graves Commission at Chittagong War Cemetery in Bangladesh. |
Afterwards, the Countess visited "Chittagong Eye Infirmary and Training Complex" operated by the personnel trained by Orbis and talked to the personnel and patients. |
Then, the Countess of Wessex visited Orbis's Flying Eye Hospital (FEH) which is a transformed MD10 aeroplane. The hospital provides ophtalmic training and surgery for local people. |
The day ended with a meeting held at "British High Commission" in Dhaka. At that meeting, activities of Trust’s Youth Programme and Avoidable Blindness Programme were discussed. Countess Sophie visits Bangladesh as Vice Patron of The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust. |
