I also found the shredded jeans disappointing. She could have achieved the very casual look she was aiming for without resorting to the ugly jeans with no belt. I think that she miscalculated the importance of the moment and that these photos will always be reprinted because of their significance. Pity, since the other elements of her outfit (shoes, bag, top) would have worker very well with a nicer pair of pants.
I have always hated the ripped jeans look. You would think that she would have dressed better since she knew her picture would be taken when she finally was out in the open with Harry on her arm. So here she is in ripped jeans which is the popular style of the celebrity set. Not exactly what a girl who has her sights set on a prince to drag to the altar would wear to make an impression. She knew her picture would be taken today over and over again and news magazines, gossip columns, style magazines, TV gossip shows, etc. would be showing her picture with Harry, yet she wears an oversized "husband" shirt and ripped jeans. Can't wait to see what she will wear to Royal Ascot, Trooping of the Colors, State Banquets, church with the Queen, etc. Should be very interesting and eye opening.
Agree the ripped jeans is such an ugly look. She really could have opted for a casual pair of pants and looked more put together. However I can almost bet my bottom dollar that should she become a member of the British Royal family her appearance will be changed markedly. She will have the complete makeover as did Catherine before her. On another note does anyone else see a striking resemblance to Pippa Middleton??
Agree! There are so many other casual options instead of those jeans...just swap them out for non-frayed/non-ripped jeans and she still would have looked better.
The weather was a hot, humid, sultry 32C and the match was played outdoors so I can understand her wearing the shirt. But a full floral below the knees skirt would have improved the look, been just as casual and cooler to wear.
Good outfit - blue, white, cognac - very classy in a casual sense. She is not a royal, so, as long as she is in 'freedom' there is no protocol for her to follow. I wonder how old are you guys? This is a granny blog afterall, is it?
Disappointed, she had a choice of anything and everything to wear and this is what she chose? Not classy, not sporty, no chic, almost rebellious of expectations and not respectful of future duties. I read Vanity Fair yesterday. Now why would she choose to do a cover story of she and Harry? He doesn't look so happy above, and when they walk in he doesn't seem to be smiling or physical or nearby her. If this is her choice for their 'first' appearance together, she's off.
I think she looks very young, fresh and modern; I don't mind the ripped jeans, besides she is so good looking that she can wear anything, but I didn't like her hair.
I love that she stayed truthful to herself. Can we not just all be happy for them, regardless of what she wears? And , in my opinion, some of the very tight jeans Kate wore on official (!!!) engagements aren't much better, made people embarrassed and drove them to avert their eyes not to look at the royal behind when she climbed up into planes and such.
He runs much faster than she does. Actually he disrespects her. Maybe there is only one Person who loves Harry, ....... ...Harry. Love is not a reason to tolerate disrespect, even if you are pregnant. She likes to think that People are good. She is naive enough that she could think, that she can trust him.
I know those shredded-knee jeans are popular but they are just horrible.
ReplyDeleteYes Heather. I know she's still a private person but I hope those jeans don't become her signature look.
DeleteThe shredded hems look even worse
DeleteAgree.
DeleteYes, yes, yes, and some of them are torn the whole length of the leg(s). Just an ugly fad.

DeleteYes, I noticed! In picture 5 she looks almost identical to Pippa.

ReplyDeletei agree , for the first pictures with Harry in public her outfit is nog right, is she not clever to know that a little more classic outfit is better .
ReplyDeleteMaybe she wanted to downplay her look......?
ReplyDeleteLovely couple. So glad to see Harry so happy.

ReplyDeleteFaddish ripped jeans were not a good choice. Questioning her judgment.

ReplyDelete100 % Agree with your comment!
DeleteWhat has age to do with good taste??? Ripped jeans are trashy.
