Princess Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark posed for photographs with their daughter Princess Athena on her first day of School. The photo shoot took place this morning in front of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie’s home in Klampenborg. Princes Athena is attending the private Catholic school, Sisters of St Joseph, just a short distance from her home. |
The Danish Monarchy shared a photo of Princess Athena and Prince Joachim in front of the school, taken by Princess Marie. |
Princess Joachim, School at Schackenborg Palace????
ReplyDeleteI think they don't live in Schackenborg anymore...?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing the photos were taken first at home, then when she arrived at school. It says the school is near her home.
ReplyDeleteTwo things surprise me: that she goes to a catholic school (although it's none of my business, obviously), and that school starts so early. The earliest it starts here in North America, so far as I know, is the last week of August.
That surprised me too when her brother Henrik started at the same school two years ago, especially since the royals can't be Catholics.
DeleteI don't think other schools in Denmark have stated yet, Frederik and Mary's twins haven't started school yet.
Here in Denmark kids start in school in these days. Some had their first day at school yesterday, Athena today (friday) and the twins will start next week. It differs from school to school which day they start. The photos are from their home in Copenhagen. Some people here in DK don't like that they have chosen a private school (vs a publich school), but it doesn't seem to be a big deal that it is a catholic school.
DeleteInteresting. I approve that schools start in August. Why drag out the summer holidays. Children, especially younger ones, need the structure of a school environment.
DeleteDo the children of Frederik and Mary also go to private schools?
No they go to a publich school, but the school is situated in an upper-class area.
DeleteI gather from what I have read that Frederik and Mary's children attend a state/public school. Prince Frederik was Palace educated then educated in a private school. I read somewhere that he and Mary want their children to mix with everyday people (I probably read that in an Australian glossy magazine, so it is highly likely to be complete and utter fiction).
DeleteMarie and Joachim don't live at Schackenborg Palace any more.
ReplyDeleteThey live nearby Copenhagen now and this is the normal time of the year school start in Denmark. The twins start at Tuesday week.

ReplyDeleteIt's an early age to start in school for her, the twins, Vincent and Josephine, are six years old, and Athena is only five. (The same age as Estelle of Sweden)
ReplyDeleteShe seems to be surprised and a bit shy seeing all the photografers in their garden.
The last pic in the school yard is taken by Marie.
Long ago - I'm 81 years old now - kindergarten started at age 3, for 3 years, then grade school from 6 to 12, then high school from 12 to 18.
