It looks like an afternoon outdoor event so the dress is right for that. But others seem to consider it a very special dress-up thing, meeting with the king and queen. Is she wearing long tassels on her ears? Too bad the king couldn't avail himself, then, of cooler garments and everybody else, also. Must have been mixed messages there.

ReplyDeleteThose were my thoughts too Annabel ! Also can't put my finger on it but something here reminds me of a flamingo dancer? Perhaps the 'thing' in her hair and the tassel earrings.

ReplyDeleteThe accessories are mostly fine here in my view, I like shoes and hairdo with a slight Spanish/Latina feel. The earrings are superfluous.
ReplyDeleteThe dress, though not terrible in itself, is a desaster for the occasion and with that styling. It´s a super-casual summer dress suitable for beach or garden only; it cannot (must not) be used in an official or business or evening context, so her styling was bound to be a failure from the get-go.

DeleteMaybe she wanted to look like a peasant girl. I don't think this was a good choice for her. She usually errs on the side of being over dressed but she missed the mark here.

ReplyDeleteI clearly like the dress, but maybe with a little white pearl-necklace?- Yesterday she looked so over the top on the fishmarket with all the gold and glitter. Maybe she changed the dates in her calendar? Maxima in this dress, Espadrilles and a basket on her arm, full of flowers and veggies - and she would look lovely for summer shopping on a southern market/ or beach.

ReplyDeleteWhat fails is the mix of of things that don't go with each other, the hair is too formal, the shoes kill the dress, the stuff in her hair is just strange, and ultimately it looks like a middle aged mom that borrowed a dress from her daughter's closet.

ReplyDeletePretty dress and I hate to be ageist but, it looks as thought it is something one of her daughters should be wearing.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is very nice, but I would have preferred sandals in colour white or nude.At the same time I think she wears too many accessories. All in all the best accessorie is her smile and she as always look radiant!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely wrong footwear. No stilettos for this style dress. These kind of shoes must fit some image she has in her mind about making her legs look longer. But all people see is the misfit combination.
