Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia attend the celebrations of the Swedish Armed Forces for the 71st birthday of King Carl Gustaf of Sweden at Royal castle on April 30, 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden. (Crown Princess wore Acne Studios Lilo wool and cashmere coat and Ralph Lauren Maxine Pleated Silk Shirtdress) |
The photo of Estelle reaching out her arms to the King is adorable. And I love her little coat--pretty collar and color.
ReplyDeleteEstelle even looks cute as Grumpy Kitten, look at pics 2 and 4.
DeleteGrumpy kitten--I love it! Yes, she is so natural and sweet. I think the sun is in her eyes?
DeleteYes, she is such a cutie!
DeleteI agree! I think that photo speaks to how the King must be with his grandchildren - she is so excited to see him and it's lovely.
DeleteLove that photo! She is such a joyful little girl :) adorable. Great shots
DeleteLovely! Little Oscar is serious fellow.
ReplyDeletePrince Oscar is sooo adorable! Princess Estelle would be a georgeous young lady.
ReplyDeleteOscar is soooo cute. Estelle is cute also ;)
ReplyDeleteMadeleine was not there? They are celebrating her fathers birthday!
ReplyDeleteNope Madeleine wasn't there. Not a surprise, it wasn't a princess dress up event where she gets to put on her tiara and ballroom gown and have everyone fawn over her.
DeleteAgain no reason given from the court why she wasn't there, but maybe she and her husband Chris are trying to figure out what to do about all that debt he owes in the US.
Apparently their summer home in Florida is in risk of being foreclosed on and sold at auction.
Or maybe it's because Chris got criticized for using the royal families chauffeur service when he was in Stockholm even though he insists on being a "private citizen".
They're probably in London somewhere having their cake and eating it too.
Chelsea, you call a spade a spade!
DeleteChelsea, you have a sharp mind!! :) Well said.
DeleteWell I must admite that Chelsea is quite right. I agree. Madeleine only seems to show up for the "formal" events. It really makes you think.
DeleteMadeleine lives in London and cannot fly up for every single occasion. She was here last year for the King's big 70th birthday celebration. She does come in for many major events and spends a good part of the summer and December in Sweden. But she lives in London. Why the bitterness toward her and Chris, Chelsea?
DeleteSince when did Chris become the King of Sweden? He has the power to order the royal chauffer to pick him up from the airport and drives him around? Chris is a private citizen, whatever happens to his business is none of our business. There are other private people involved in his company, these people have nothing to do with Sweden and the royal family, so writing about his business publicly is bad taste. His company is Private Limited, so it should remain private. Does he have problems with his taxes, it is again none of our concern, the Tax Dept will go after him.
DeleteThe Swedish Press is so obsessed about Chris digging up everything that happens in London and America, why don't they spend their time finding out why Sofia can start a business with her farher and sister, why they registered their business using the royal palace address? Why Carl Philip can run a business even though he is a Prince? A few years ago, somebody criticised him publicly for copying his design and suddenly no one in Sweden say anything, people keeping quiet. There are so many things happening in Sweden, right at the doorsteps, right under the nose and yet the Swedish Press loves going after that guy in London who doesn't get any money from Sweden. The Swedish Press is so interested in Chris, criticising him endlessly, do they want to know what type of toilet paper he use?
Chris has made a personal promise during the engagement, he will not do business with Swedish people. He lost his job because of the Press intrusion and now he is trying his best to make things work and here people are trying to destroy him at every opportunity. Very sad that there are so many selfish people around, these people are hoping to see him fail and fall.
This blog is about fashion not Chris's taxes, debts or business...
I think she was a spoiled child and she still is!
DeleteI agree with you ! We can criticize Victoria for her hair or Sofia also for her hair, with her stripe in the middle. But they are always present and they do a good job!
DeleteI appreciate Madeleine, but I find her behavior worse and worse. She should clarify her status, like Martha Louise for example.
Sorry for my English !
Thank you for your insights, Lim Ling. I also find the hostility toward Chris bizarre given more troubling issues at hand. On a fashion note, Victoria's jacket/coat is pretty and I like the longer length in the picture taken from behind the balcony.
Delete@lim ling that is also very true as well.
DeleteNo bitterness here.
DeleteLim Ling he actually did use the chauffeur service when he was in Stockholm. The court even had to make a comment about it after it caused a stir. No one wants to see him fail. I just find he and Madeleine very hypocritical. He promised not to do business in Sweden, now he is. He doesn't want to receive benefits from Sweden but then uses a driver for his own personal use in Stockholm.
Madeleine needs to make up her mind. She wants all the perks that comes with being a princess but only half the work. She just shows up for the glamorous events and people are starting to notice.
I actually agree with you in regards to Sofia and Carl Philip. I think it's super shady that they are using their royal connections to create businesses.
There's a lot going on behind the scenes in the Swedish royal family that's odd.
Well said, Lim Ling.
DeleteIts interesting that there's so much bitterness towards Madeleine and Chris. I'm 100% sure that if Madde had attended, people would have said she only did it because she wanted to outshine everyone else. Its funny how women so often like to bitch about beautiful women. If Madde were ugly, fat, hunched, cockeyed people would pay no attention on her!
Its not round bday and she's not constantly living in Sweden like others. But perhaps its quite telling she missed appearing at her fathers bday? I don't see her getting the same support from the family against constant attacks from the press like Sofia did.
But personally I find its very sad that Madeleine has withdrawn from the public eye....
Lim Ling; Chris has really been using that "royal families chauffeur service" what of course is not looking any good when he wants to be private citizen.
DeleteMadeline has been ages very good in that pick as many cherries you can and never do bread and butter work, long before she met Chris, moved abroad and had children. I remember several occasions when she cancelled her basic work events for "flu" and was the very same day well enough to celebrate with her friends.
Oh pleas Karl K, no one is "bitching about beautiful women". This has nothing to do with Madeleine's looks. Stop trying to perpetuate the stereotype that the only reason women criticize other women is because their jealous.
DeleteChelsea, I understand about the royal car thingy, what I am trying to say is, somebody must have given permission to let him use the royal car, does anyone here thinks that he can just take the car key and drives away?
DeleteHe did keep his promise, he said he will not do business with Swedish people, meaning he does not want them to be his clients, he does not want to make money from them. That day he came down to Stockholm because he has a business meeting. Of course, we have no right to know who are his clients.
When I said he was criticised everyday, people criticises him for every little bit of thing that he does. When he is having lunch or dinner with his family or friends in Sweden , people criticise him for having a lavish lifestyle. The first time he attended National Day with Madde, people criticised him for wearing a purple tie. So basically everything he does is wrong, blame him for everything.
If I were Madde, everyday and every week, people write negative articles about my husband, I think I will suffer from mental breakdown, severe depression and maybe end up going crazy...
If anyone had read Madde's honeymoon interview, she did say that she wanted to remove her title or be like Martha Louise, but her family has decided against it and asked her to stay.
Sorry, back to fashion...
Thank you all for education outside of royal fashion. Now, where were we? Yes, @Pine. Victoria's coat is super luxe and a beautiful length!
DeleteSome here love to say that Madeleine appear so "everyone can fawn over her" but if that were the case, then why she's absent??? If she were that vain and eager for spotlight, then she would use every single opportunity to be on the front row but I don't see her there eagerly begging for attention. I see her contently taking walks with her little children, living normal everyday life like the rest of us, so how she's attention seeker? Its been said that Swedish tax-payers are not keeping her up and she only gets paid when she takes official duties. Chris is the one who takes care of the family as well as he can.
DeleteI believe that Madeleine knows perfectly well that she will never be the queen. She's no longer required. She needs to fade into backround. So she builds up new life for herself and her children, life as private as possible but appearing when needed because she is still a blood princess.
So I am sorry but I really don't get this constant nitpicking on Madeleine and Chris! She's damned if she does...she's damned if she doesn't...
Dare I say that all of you always visit your parents (or your grown-up children visit you) on their exact birthday day no matter how far you live from each other? If so, then good for you. I live in another city than my parents, so its not always possible to get there on exact day. I must be a lousy saughter to my parents 😧
DeleteWell Marianne, is your family a royal family with its duties or a private one? Do you really not understand that there is a huge difference?
DeleteCoralie, why there's a huge difference? Birthday are family events and the members of the family can celebrate birthdays on exact day/earlier/later. For Victoria, Carl Philip and Madeleine their parents are primarily their parents, no matter that they are the head of the state as well. Its strange to celebrate your parent's birthday because its a "duty" and even thought you are not there in person doesn't mean that you won't congratulate your parent and get together at some other time to celebrate in private.
DeleteWe've seen it before that someone has a birthday but e.g. The King or The Queen is out of the country and not able to be at the bday party physically. Last time e.g. Victoria was in Japan when prince Alexander celebrated his 1st birthday. Should she have cancelled the visit in case her brother took offence that her sister was missing from the birthday party?
Well Marianne, I often do not visit my parents on exact bday day because we don't live in the same city. We get in touch via Skype and I send them flowers+present on special days. My parents seem to understand. Unfortunately its more difficult to get together when children are grown-up and live separately from their parents.
DeleteWell Coralie, I really don't see that there is a huge difference between royal family or private one. Children go on their own way and have tp find their way in life.
I think people forget that Princess Madeleine is not the heiress and the kids of Victoria basically make Carl Philip and Madeleine redundant. Madeleine has realized it, so she has withdrawn back and live as normal life as possible but sadly she gets snide remarks because she has done so. Carl Philip and his wife have to count on taxpayers. Personally I would really like to see more of Madeleine but sadly its not done...
Of course there is a huge difference. Private citizens lead their own private life the way they want to. Members of a royal family can not. They are under public eye. They represent a nation, a tradition, they have to stick to certain rules. As long as Madeleine calls herself a princess she is not a private person.
DeleteCoralie if the birthdays are that important and should be celebrated with all family members present [in order to show family unity?], then why they only do it for the King and the Crown Princess (they also clebrate Victoria's Name Day)? Why not celebrate bdays of Queen Silvia, prince Carl Philip and princess Madeleine also publicly because lots of people would like to congratulate them as well (or at least celebrate their round bdays more bigger)? But I see no equality in this regard towards Carl Philip and Madeleine. Victoria missed her mother's birthday last year but that was not celebrated publicly, so no nitpicking was done on her.
DeleteAgree with all the comments on CP family but am distracted by the beautiful Queen. Her hair is beautiful today!
ReplyDeleteAnd Victoria has that beautiful thick hair like her Mum!!!
DeleteHmm i love. Princess Estelle reachig the king arms is wonderful
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Oscar smiling. Sofia looks very pretty even though Victoria wants to be in the front all the time.
ReplyDeleteVictoria HAS to be in the front. She is the heir, my eye.
DeleteVictoria is the heiress, compketely expexted to be in the front with the monarch. Daniel is in the back because he married to a heiress, he is not the heir. Sofia is more visible than Daniel and he is married to the heiress, and CP was barely seen. If you ask me she not only is expected to be in the front, she wanted to be in the front. Daniel and even CP were a lot of discrite, and they Came first in line.
Delete@Raquel: Almost fully agree with your post. But CP was down in the court next to his father in uniform taking the military honours. And that's just one thing which give me the creeps. That old sexist CG never got over the fact that Victoria is the heir and not his precious son. Victoria had to fight for years to be allowed to marry a decent nice guy like Daniel. But obviously it was no problem at all for CP to get married to a former "Miss Slitz".
DeleteRomana, you are right with your comment about CG! No wonder Victoria is much more popular than her father!
Delete@romana agree 100%! The king sad in many occasion that the law of sucession should NOT have changed. I can only imagine how victoria must have felt 😢
DeleteIrony of faith: victoria, the future queen, is a beloved royal of the people; CP, whom the king wanted for heir, is the last favorite of the people And the one that for many, Has a questionably partner. I feel sorry for victoria sometimes.
Raquel; that is only a half truth. Succession law was changed so late that there were both kids Victoria and Carl Philip. CP was heir apparent six months and after that lost the tittle to his sister. Situation would have been much clearer if the law was changed earlier. I can understand both oppinions really.
DeleteKing said also already many years ago that all the members of Swedish royal family are today happy to their positions also he about Victoria beeing the heir.
There is no reason of the king ti say in any occassion that the law should have been continuing to privileged boys (his son) over girls (victoria). No reason. He should be happy and should have been supportive of her since the law changed. Saying décadas after the law changed that he is happy about her being heiress is no late for me. No reason to privilege his son over his daugthers ( also Madeleine that is also his descendant of course).
DeleteJust love that first photo! Such a cute kid.
ReplyDeleteOscar always looks so worried......bless him.
ReplyDeleteAnelle M May 1 2017
ReplyDeleteNo I disagree with you Rainha Leonor, Victoria has thin hair like her dad, so it must be very difficult to style it always. But in the past there were a lot of events where her hair was styled just STUNNING
Thin hair??? Really??? Have you ever seen northern thin hair in your life? It is very different than Victoria´s hair really.
DeleteI agree Blondiini, as a finn :)

ReplyDeleteRarley is there any personal emotion shown on the Queen's face, as there is in picture #6. Something's off.
DeleteI think of all the Swedish royals Princess Madeline is the most beautiful indeed of all the European royals. And it is wrong on so many levels to constantly nitpick on her. Her husband has made it clear to everyone that he is a private citizen and that he is not in the public eye and we should not respect that. It is Crown Princess Victoria who will be Queen one day and Prince Daniel who will take his place as Royal Escort and thus they are public figures. It is not the place of this blog to criticize the financial or private lives of the royalty.
ReplyDeleteQueen Silvia looks really great with her blue-purple shawl and her hair are in enviable condition for somone over 70. Her hairdresser does good job!
ReplyDeleteVictoria's face looks very tanned already (especially compared to others). This kind of hairstyle looks very unflattering with her features [but its been said she does not care about how she appears, so why should i care].
Sofias eyes looks tired, pregnancy must worn her out. Her hair look quite lovely styled like this, are her hair more blacker than before?
Oscar and Estelle look cute as always. Oscar looks like a very calm and serious little guy, whereas Estelle more bubbly. Sorry that we did not get to see Alexander, he must have been sleeping.
Estelle used to have that very serious look and was calm in front of crowds! I,too, would like to see the other children (@ public events) but the trend is Crown Princess family's children only. Time will tell if I am mistaken.
DeleteRoyalty fan
ReplyDeleteWhy don't the family have their balcony upgraded + made wider, so all of them can be seen,
look at poor Sofia, she has to "peep" through the rest so that the crowd can see her. Or can't they use another part of the palace to "greet" the crowd
Making the balcony wider costa money. Ridiculouss to spend money so that Sofia can show herself. CP and Daniel were more discrite, nothing wrong with that.estelle is a future queen, narurally people should see her more. Oscar will be a "extra", less " visible" but still expected to appear. Sofia can say hi, it takes a second. She was in the front for a while. Enough to say hi to people. She is not the primary focus. The king and the heiress are. CP and Daniel say hi and let victoria, queen and king do theyre "thing"
DeleteOh my gosh- before you mentioned this, I had no idea both princes were there! Glad we saw Princess Sofia...for a hot minute!
DeleteIf the king, the heiress and the heiress's daughter are the primary focus, then dare I ask what is the point of dragging other members there if they are not needed?
DeleteIts true that the window is too small for so many family members. If Madeleine, Chris and their children, plus Alexander had been there as well, then this balcony scene would have looked even more ridiculous than now.
Something has to be done because with so many members being there this window appearance is not working any longer. They should all go down to the courtyard or find another winder window/balcony.
Victoria looks lovely in that shade of pink and that cobalt blue is lovely on the Queen. The children are very cute. A nice family occasion.
ReplyDeleteWhat long explanations. Waste of time
ReplyDeleteIf one would have the money like the Swedish Royals (and Madeleine has not to ask for "benefits"): would one not "fly over" from London to Stockholm for a birthday surprise to celebrate the 71 years old Dad with Mum and siblings? (...except the kids are unwell or something important runs in the daily business...) However. I know, it is not about fashion. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteFashion: I like the "Max Mara" outfit on the presentation, but it is not really visible on Sofia.
Victoria, Madeleine and Carl Philip all married non royals. They all seem happy with their choices and they all have beautiful families.
ReplyDeleteSome of you just can't stop criticizing Sofia and Chris. Just stick to fashion and keep your petty thoughts to yourselves.
In criticizing Theres a difference between hating and just making good points.
DeleteI can only respond for myself but I will continue to be a critical thinker (making good And truthfull points), rather you think its petty or not. Thanku very much.
