On March 22, 2017, Queen Mathilde and King Philippe of Belgium attend a memorial ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the Brussels attacks by Islamic extremists at Brussels' airport in Zaventem. Brussels terrorist bombings in both Zaventem airport and Maelbeek metro station killed 32 people and injured 260 others.

    The king and queen are obviously genuinely moved. They are a very appealing couple.
