King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visit the old town of Erfurt, eastern Germany, along with the city's mayor Andreas Bausewein on February 8, 2017. Dutch royal couple is on a working visit to the German states of Thueringen, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt from February 7 to 10. |
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima carry white roses as they visit the Buchenwald memorial on the grounds of the former Nazi concentration camp near Weimar, eastern Germany. |
Eww. those shoes.
ReplyDeleteUgh to peep toe shoes with hose. No no no no.
DeleteYes. And to make things worse on an icy day in February. Makes her look very foolish.
DeleteThose shoes are just wrong for winter. It's cold, you need hose, and that makes everything worse.
DeleteI wish she would have added a little pop of color to this outfit. Just a little too much grey. I appreciate the fact her hair is nice and neat. The hat is lovely and suits her.
ReplyDeleteThe reason that she didn't wear any colour might be that they visited the concentration camp Buchenwald
DeleteI like the grey outfit. Later the same day they visited concentration camp Buchenwald, the colour is very appropriate for that occasion. Luckily she changed those peeptoes and wore black boots.
DeleteYes well gray was the right choice for the visit. I am glad they visited Buchenwald. Everyone should visit a camp. JMHO
DeleteI was totally unaware of the visit to Buchenwald when I wrote my comments early this morning. So I stand corrected and agree she dressed appropriately.
Delete@diana brown, you are right about visiting a camp, i realy want but i am afraid it would be to emotional for me, it will make me sick for a long time, i read so many things about the camps that when i see it in real i will brake me.
DeleteMarti it was not posted when it first came up this morning. I only knew because of a Instagram acct I follow.
DeleteIris it is very emotional. Very much so. To me the air is heavy and you can feel the grief. At least I did. It is hard to imagine the horror of what happened. I have been to Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen and Ravensbruck. It has never left me.
DeleteThe grey makes her too old!
ReplyDeleteBuchenwald ? Ça vous dit quelque chose ?
Delete?
DeleteShe said does that remind you of something? Is that right?
DeleteHmmm
Yes, but I wondered what that comment means.
DeleteMe too
Delete@Myriam - ca me dit beaucoup, mais ce n'est pas la place ici pour commenter Buchenwald, sinon je le ferais
DeleteNo. I disagree. I think the shade of gray, with matching accessories is very becoming on the Queen. I think gray is a good alternative to black when you want to display just the right solemn touch. And the outfit was an very appropriate choice for this particular visit. All seem to be in agreement that the boots were the right choice.
DeleteShe is dressed appropriately, and attractively. Far better with the boots.
ReplyDeletesomber visit/part of the day, but important that they did. very appropriate.
ReplyDeletethere is a moving photo with the king laying his hand on the stone; sadly not to be seen over here
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think it would be good for everybody to visit Buchenwald? What would it change? Nothing. Just watch what is happening just now in the world? Countries are bombed to the ground, creating refugess by the millions. If you want to live in peace, you have to start by yourself and create peace within yourself.
ReplyDeleteSo that ppl remember? Show respect? I don't know AstroHealer I don't know anyome who has not gone to one of them if they are in the area. It is respectful.
DeleteTo each his own. But history repeats itself. What is happening today is familiar path to the 30's.
I guess it is important to most because so many go like Maxima and Willem.. Queen Elizabeth.... Presidents.... school children. It is history.
I have peace. But thanks. I am acutely aware of the world and how it is..
Hi Diane,I think many people would not want to go and see. We my husband and I were passing by Dachau but we didn't want to stop.
DeleteYes, as they say history repeats itself but it would never come to World War 3 .Everybody knows what the consequences would be this time, not who would be right but who would be left.
We all want peace but we are humans and humans can not live in absolute harmony.
Just to be clear everyone. I am NOT JUDGING anyone. I stated that I thought ppl should visit a camp in my OWN PERSONAL OPINION.
ReplyDeleteI also said to "each his own".
I am not shaming any of you at all.
If you felt I was then I apologize. But when I say "JMHO".... that means my opinion. Not necessarily yours.
Diane , no need to apologize. I think everybody understood your very good comments.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristina X
