Former King of Spain Juan Carlos is celebrating his 79th birthday today. Born Juan Carlos de Borbón in Roma on January 5, 1938, his career spans an arc over many different eras and tastes in Spanish history. Juan Carlos' not just a great monarch, he's an inspiration, an icon and a successful business man. In 2014, June 2 Juan Carlos has said publicly about the abdication in favor of his son, the Prince of Asturias Felipe. Happy birthday to you, King Juan Carlos.

      Ummm he has aged alot in the last 20 yrs. He is not exactly the stud he was even 20 yrs ago. Been a rocky path in those years. That will age you.

      We all age, no exceptions for royals!!! Unless you go the botox way or plastic surgery, you do have bags under your eyes - I should know, I'm 80, and I look nothing like I looked even 10 years ago.

      That is the truth lizzie! Time waits for no one. I do think his health and personal challenges family wise have taken a toll. As it would anyone.

    One of the two monarchs of our time who effectively had a positive impact of historical importance. I'm so sorry both for his health issues and that he had to abdicate in such unworthy conditions. He may have had his fallibilities, his pecadillos, but he's a good hearted person with manly poise, no one can doubt that.

    Who wrote that? Juan Carlos' not just a great monarch, he's an inspiration, an icon and a successful business man. Are they kidding? icon? inspiration?, I'm sure Sophia does not agree.

      Los asuntos de un matrimonio son PRIVADOS. Lo que piensa Sofía sólo lo sabe ella, no usted ni yo. ¿Acaso se comentan aquí los devaneos amorosos del ex-rey de Bélgica, de Alberto de Mónaco, CG de Suecia, Príncipe Felipe de GB...? NO.
      Y sí, el es un icono, una inspiración y un ejemplo COMO REY.
