King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix of The Netherlands attended the New Years reception for the diplomatic corps at the Royal Palace on January 18, 2017 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Dutch Royal family welcomed the diplomatic corps accredited to The Netherlands.

    I like Maxima's earings and her big smile but it seems to me that she is a little bit worn out and tired, miss her freshness.

    I love Maxima's smile. She has a twinkle in her eyes that is so appealing!

    I don't get the skirt; it has what appears to be a big pocket with a gathered top, attached to the front below the waistband?

    I love the dragonfly pin attached to the waistband. Very creative; I may try that with one of my pins on the waistband of a high-waisted pair of slacks.

    I also love her shoes. I wish I had occasion to buy a pair of beautiful deep red shoes like those.

    I like the colours but the detail on the skirt is strange. Plaid can be fussy enough without adding to it.
    It seems to me that her clothes seem a bit too casual compared to the level of formality of what the king is wearing?

    I don't believe that skirt would look good on anyone. It should be retired.
    I like the shoes, even though the colors don't appear to match. And the coat is way too short.

    Absolutely love this skirt! It is such an imaginative take on traditional plaid. And the whimsical dragonfly pin is adorable.

      @Pine-you are right it is a cool look but I am sad that I am calling this cheery getup a miss. I think @Marianne RF states below. It hits her hips in a weird, almost frumpy way😢

    Maxima's skirt would better suit someone who has very narrow hips. But I love the color of her blouse.

    ik vind het een leuk stel,en gaan met de tijd mee !!
    en de ene keer ziet ze er weer mooi uit ,en de andere keer weer iets minder.
