King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine of Sweden and Christopher O'Neill attended 2016 Nobel Banquet at the Stockholm City Hall (Stadshuset) on December 10, 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden. (VIDEO) |
All the ladies look lovely, but I particularly like the color of Princess Sofia's gown. I believe, that in time, she will develop her own very classic style. She's adapted to her role with much poise in such a short time and at the same time, being true to her own self and daring to be somewhat different in hair style and dress. I like that in her!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I thought the colour of her gown was lovely, the bodice and the skirt were beautiful too, however I wasn't so keen on the sleeves (but then that is just me. Overall I thought she looked lovely.
DeleteI feel like the family went with the "etreme fashion" theme this year.
ReplyDeleteNot very good dresses. Victoria was nice, the best for me.
Madeleine dotress was not very pretty but the color is gorgeous.
Silvia looked like a disco ball. Didnt looked appropriate for an event like this. More like for a fancy party i feel.
Sofia was NOT good at all. Remended me of a kimono. Her tiara would be better for the outfit. People keep saying she will find her style but i dont think that she will be stylish.
I agree with Raquel about queen Silvia's dress, I don't care for Madeleine's dress either. I like Sofia's dress color but I don't think it fits her too well, it seems too large for her petite figure. I wonder why Victoria and Madeleine are wearing ginormous crowns/tiaras, while Sofia's is much smaller?
ReplyDeleteWell, they are 'royal' born, Sofia is not.
DeleteThis is not a question of being 'royal born' but of the role, that one has in the 'royal company'. If Carl Philip was the heir, Sofia would wear the major tiara and would have the biggest clothing budget.
DeleteI agree about almost everything. I think I like Victoria's dress' material, gold on pearl grey is sublime. The dress itself however is a bit too messy for my taste. For the same reason I don't like Madeleine's skirt, though her slightly bell shaped sleeves are very elegant. Silvia is indeed disco-esque. As for Sofia, I think I like the dress, it's very unique and the colour is gorgeous but I agree it's not a shape for her.
DeleteThe tiara-thing is not exactly as you say Beth. First of all it's Silvia who decides what she wants to wear. There are tiaras that only she wears and apparently there are others that became Victoria's and even Madeleine's "own" tiaras. Then there are a couple that she shares with her daughters but it's highly possible she'll never lend to her son's wife. And the rest is what the rest of the family members rotate between them on tiara occasions.
Sofia probably wouldn't wear the "major" tiara than Victoria or Madeleine even if Carl Philip was heir. At least not as long as Silvia is alive. She'd probably just have more options than now and maybe some kind of exclusivity on one-two pieces.
I agree that Victoria looked the best. Madeleine was "meh" - too little girl princessy. Maybe Silvia looks a bit over-the-top sparkly, but she's the queen!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand Sofia's dress at all. My first, and continuing, reaction was "what the heck is that?"
Yes, Victoria did win this time. Although I'd have preferred her to wear the beautiful tiara she inherited from Princess Lilian. Today's tiara is not among my favourites.
DeleteMadeleine's dress looks nice from neck to waist, the skirt is too much frou-frou.
I totally agree with you when it comes to Silvia and I must admit that I do love the fabric of her gown together with that gorgeous Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure.
Sophia's dress has a beautiful colour that suits her, but the cut/style, what's that? Totally strange. And I will never like loose hair with a tiara. It just doesn't seem right to me.
Agree about Sofia's hair. It made her look like a little girl playing dress-up.
DeleteThe Cut-Steel tiara ist rather ugly, but Princess Victoria seems to be quite fond of it. I would have chosen the Baden Fringe tiara to go with that dress. It would have looked better with that chignon too.
ReplyDeleteAgree about the tiara. I have a strange feeling that something went wrong with her emerald tiara and the steel cut was a last-minute substitution. The color of the dress is emerald and it would have been perfect with her wedding tiara.
DeleteI will have to disagree. It is very feminine and looks great with her skin tone. She really pulls it off. You might watch her wear it in the video. It is stunning when it pulls the light towards her face and so sparkly. ***And it's not even my favorite tiara!
DeleteI love this event because all the ladies go all-out, and they certainly didn't disappoint. I can't choose a 'favorite' between Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine - they both looks stunning. Princess Sofia looks lovely as well - I do wish the neckline on her dress were different, but it's a small quibble. Queen Silvia is probably a bit over-the-top, but as far as I'm concerned she's carrying it off!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who likes Madeleine's dress? I think it's bohemian and catches people's attention. And the tiara... There is something with it, the way she wears it maybe it's placed further back than usual but I just found it really beautiful!! Madeleine knows how to wear it her hairstyle is also amazing. Victoria looked also beautiful if only she choose a nicer tiara! As for Sofia, I liked the colour of the dress but in my opinion the style of it is just horrible. She is too small for a dress like this. I liked that she wore another tiara not her wedding gift.
ReplyDeleteNo, you are not the only one. I also liked Princess Madeleine'gown, the more i looked, the more i liked it. She usually wears sleevless gowns but this one had long sleeves and I'd say that this gown looked like something from fairytale. She can pull off this kind if romantic gowns.
DeleteHer sister looked also gorgeous. Both sisters are in great shape and motherhood suits them. Can't wait to see what they will wear tonight.
DeleteBravo Crown Princess Victoria! Very beautiful and regal. Madeleine looks beautiful as always. Queen Silvia always looks regal, befitting her age and stature. Then there is Sophia. Always something not quite there. She is a beautiful person, but the fit, sleeves and structure of the dress do not look good.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I do not know if Sofia has someone to help. Whatever, she is seldom "right". Maybe she is tryin too hard to shine. I loved both Crown Princess Victoria's gown and Princess Madeleine's. She can really carry off the romantic look.
DeleteSilvia's dress is really very sparkling but I think she looks very good in her whole outfit. Madeleine is just beautiful and Victoria's gown is best looking in my opinion. Sophia looks good too but her dress has weird shape, it's strangely tailored.

ReplyDeleteVictoria's dress is nice but nothing spectacular. Jenny Packham golden dress is much much better than this.
ReplyDeleteMadeleine looks great in pink but this dress is "too princessy" as someone said.
Sofia looks stunning in green but the shape is weird. She is still looking for her fashion expression.
And finally, SYLVIA. I don't like her dresses, especially red ones, but this is amazing. She is the star of the evening. Finally something different, silver, sparkly, modern shape, this is something that even younger women would wear. Great brave choice!! Well done! :)
I love a tiara event and I have been waiting with bated breath for the Nobel Banquet.
ReplyDeleteI thought Victoria's gown was lovely and perfectly paired with the Steel Cut Tiara and the choker and earrings from the Cameo Tiara parure. The Steel Cut Tiara has grown on me over the years, not only does Victoria wear it well, the way this tiara shimmers and sparkles as the wearer moves is remarkable.
Queen Silvia's gown was "wow, Queen Silvia!" At first I thought, too much but then I thought only Queen Silvia could wear a gown that sparkles that much with jewellery that sparkles that much and not look tacky. My only wish for Queen Silvia is that she would add some (if not more) highlights and low lights to soften her hair colour just a fraction.
I thought Sophia looked lovely too. I love the colour of her gown. The bodice and the skirt were beautiful, but I personally didn't like the sleeves. I thought it interesting that her gown looks better in the video than it does in the photo above and I have to admit I was thrilled to see Sofia in a tiara other than her own.
Madeleine herself looked lovely (her hair and makeup were beautiful), however I didn't like her dress as it was a little too fussy for my personal taste.
It was also nice to see Christ O’Neill looking more at ease than I have seen before at an official occasion.
