I don't know why Europeans have that tradition unlike Americans that stack them together. I have a German friend that does this also. I am sure we will get some clarity with the blog's diversity. I'm interested in hearing if there is a reason or just a different tradition.
Not everyone uses it that way in Europe, I think it's a matter of preference. Of course there are some countries where they wear the wedding ring on the left hand (for example in Spain). But as for the engagement ring there is not really a tradition, in Portugal where I live, there are many people who have an engagement ring and do not use it
Grey suits her. I love the picture from her in profile. But a jersey skirt and wool jumper are too casual for a dinner. Other guests seem to have dressed up.
Beth, I was thinking exactly the same about the lovely picture in profile. Marie is always standing in the shadow of Mary, isn't she? (Which is logical, as Mary is CP. But I think Marie in her way also is a charming and attractive lady.)
She is very attractive and has this special french elegance. In my personal opinion I find her facial features more beautiful than Mary's. And she has a beautiful smile. Like Mary has, both in their own way. Yes, they do not have the same role. I find, when Marie does engagements on her own, she looks better and seems more at ease. At official gala events she seems to be more tensed.
I find her also more beautiful than Mary, but Mary is more self confident and can pull more out of herself to present her as a person. Marie is a litlle bit more reserved and IMO she has more potencial than she shows. But of course they are both great in their jobs as royal members.
Well, Joachim has his farm, he's busy 'cause last time I heard about it it was under liquidation or some kind of consolidation process. In one word: trouble :) And Frederik... He is, hm, busy sailing and his occasional partying weeks. He is rumoured to have little motivation for hard work. Of course he has his engagements, it's not that he doesn't do anything.
Behind her job as princess, Marie works with the Southern Danish University on projects for foreign students and part-time project assistant at the Danish Emergency Management Agency. * I think it's because she is so tiny, she always wears her clothes so short and tight ?
The jumper is a bit too casual compared to what seems to be formal lunchtime event but she looks lovely in my opinion. I LOVE the big gold buttons on the jumper! Interesting how you girls say you think Marie is more beautiful than Mary. I thought I liked Mary's face better but recently it struck me that I actually think Marie looks beautier. It might be that she wears a lot less makeup than Mary and yet she manages to look perfectly presentable at all events. These days every time I look at a picture of Mary I can't help thinking how she would look without all that makeup.
Lovely coat but it is difficult to make pullover look good. It looks just too everyday and modest.
ReplyDeleteShe's so tiny !
ReplyDeleteWonder why she wears her engagement ring on her right hand, and not with her wedding ring ?

She has pretty face especially when she is smiling.Like the sweater but skirt I think it is much too tight.

ReplyDeleteI just wonder when the princes of Denmark are working. They seem to be home all day.

What a stupid comment. Both princesses, CP Mary and Princess Marie have a very full schedule. They work hard for their country.
DeleteHold on, am I replying to one of the trolls??? :-))))
Beth, we are talking about the PRINCES, not the princesses.

Very ordinary, hair, outfit - everything. Not very polished at all, but rarely is.
ReplyDeleteA rare sighting of the ugly engagement ring too.
She looks perfect!!
