    1. I think it is rather because all the Scandinavian royals start their summer holidays in June and their holidays last generally until end of August.

  4. It's the summer and many of the royal family members as well as the many guests who fill the chapel will be away on their summer holidays.

    1. I'm also confused by the late date...he will be just short of 5 months old when finally christened. The entire family gathers every year in July for a holiday at Oland and to celebrate Crown Princess Victoria's birthday. Hard to believe they couldn't take half a day off for the christening. It certainly would have been a lot more convenient with the family all in one place at the same time.

    2. But these christenings are not small family affairs. In that case, what you suggest would be fine. For a royal christening, the chapel is filled with official guests including high ranking government officials, representatives of other Royal families and dozens and dozens of others. The summer is a time when many of them are off for long summer holidays.

  5. Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar were also christened at the Royal Chapel.
