On June 09, 2016, Dutch Queen Maxima launched National campaign of the 11th Neighbour's Day (Burendag) 2016 in Urk, The Netherlands. Queen Maxima attends in her capacity as Patron of the Oranje Fonds. Burendag gives neighbours the opportunity to get to know each other and to join forces to tackle local issues, which ultimately results in a safer, more friendly neighbourhood. |
If Maxima is going to insist on wearing this hat.....she needs to have a much more stream lined appearance. Her hair needs to be tamer. Perhaps a ponytail or side bun. And she needs a dress with no frills and flounces. Something sleek and tame. Also a different color than the hat. But as usual her smile is contagious.
ReplyDeleteI liked it till I moved down the dress? What the heck is all that squiggly stuff on the lower half of the dress? Looks like a balding dress. Not a fan today.
ReplyDeleteShe looks good but i find that sometimes she overdresse...just way top much; the hat, the feather, the pashmina.
ReplyDeleteLooks as if she is not representing the Netherlands but the Land of Oz.
ReplyDeleteGood comment!
DeleteAhhhh ha ha ha! Magic comment! :)
DeleteHeaven knows I like Máxima very much, I even like her outfit when she puts on something I hate on anyone else or loathe as a general rule (spider brooches and head to toe orange outfits, I'm pointing at you!) but holy crab! this is way too much within one outfit. Either the feathery fringes of the skirt or the caped top - the two just clash with each other. And as for the hat, it's the one piece in the universe even Máxima can't pull off. Don't know why, it's just... messy. Like the milliner hasn't really had any clue what she/he intended to do with that piece of sinamay, just twisted it a pair of times and this... indefinable thing came out of it.
ReplyDeleteOMG !
ReplyDeleteHer smile is amazing and she definitely goes all in - no one else could pull off that hat and skirt combo.
ReplyDeleteExactly! I'd take the jacket though!
DeleteShe can do so much better.
ReplyDeleteThe hat kind of looks like a sultans hat and somehow out in the desert a sandstorm came along and just tore that baby up and alas...we have this.. hat.
ReplyDeleteAlthough in picure 4 it's not bad. Full frontal shot. But from any other angle it's crazy.
I just dislike the top too. It's like wings and someone clipped them to short.
The skirt is ok bit not in combination with the rest. But it's different and has possibilities.
But she does have her beautiful smile that overtakes the odd outfit. Got to love Max!
This is overkill! And then I'm not gonna mention that you forgot the towel on your head 😂
ReplyDeleteActually the hat looks like a birds nest. Do we want to star in a remake of the birds 🐦 🐥🕊
ReplyDeleteI am a hat person and I love this hat with Maxima. Although I cannot imagine anybody else wearing it, but it is unusual and interesting. But I do not like those split sleeves with the skirt she is wearing. Simple blouse would have worked better.
ReplyDeleteMaxima is jewel at Dutch crown. She brings a lot of happiness to ordinary people. And I think she mostly loves her job.
In picture 7, side view, the hat looks like a rat's nest, except rats don't have a nest, so a bird's nest. The whole thing, hat, top, skirt, is bizarre, but her smile is great as always.
ReplyDeleteToday was definitely a bad hat day for our lovely Maxima ! :(
ReplyDeleteGet rid of the bird's nest on your head, Max!
ReplyDeleteLooks like she fell headfirst into a burlap sack.
ReplyDeleteI know Maxima is 'out there' and has a very open personality, and like to bit a bit outrageous but honestly that hat is just awful. Who on earth designed that???
ReplyDeleteLess is more Maxima. Again she looks frantic to me.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like this hat the first time she wore it and it has not improved. It is just not a flattering look and I don't know anyone who would look good in this one, time to retire the hat.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the cat? In the bird nest? LOL
