New Swedish Prince named Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil. On Thursday April 21, 2016, a cabinet meeting was held at the Royal Palace to mark the birth of Princess Sofia's son. At the cabinet meeting, The King informed the Government that the Prince will be named Alexander Erik Hubertus Bertil, with the given name Alexander. The Prince was assigned Duke of Södermanland. (Södermanland, is a historical province or landskap on the south eastern coast of Sweden. It borders Östergötland, Närke, Västmanland and Uppland. It is also bounded by lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. In Swedish, the province name is frequently shortened to Sörmland.) |
Beautiful name. Long life to Prince Alexander
ReplyDeleteMuch, much better than Oscar
ReplyDeleteOscar is VERY traditional name to Swedish kings and princes, other traditional is Carl. Because that it was also very presumable name.
DeleteBoth names are beautiful. I like when kids are named after family members or dear people. Is there someone that little Alex was named after?
DeleteOscar is much better choice than Estelle.
I agree with Lizzie, I don't care for the name Oscar, but I like Alexander alot.
DeleteOscar is a terrible name. But Alexander lovely
DeleteAlexander is a lovely name

DeleteWhat a lovely nod, both to Sofia's Father and the late Prince Bertil !
ReplyDeleteVery Nice name and wishing all the best to the newlyparents
ReplyDeleteNice names, a nod to Sofia's father Erik, a nod to the King's middle name Hubertus, and a nod to Prince Bertil.
ReplyDeleteAlso, CP-Victoria looks great.
Who is prince Bertil?
DeleteHe was king´s uncle who died 1997. Prince Bertil was not aloud to marry until very late years when King Carl Gustaf was already a king (succesion problems). King´s father died very early and Bertil was like a spare father to king and grand father to Victoria, Carl Philiph and Madeline. They were really very close. Carl Philip and Sofia are going to move to Bertil´s and his late wife Lilian´s house later.
