On April 21, 2016, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium visit the 35th edition of the Floralien flower festival in Gent. This is the first time since 1985 that the Floralies are again held in Ghent. Japan is the guest country this year. The Floralies is held every four years. |
I expect I'll probably be in the minority, but I love everything about Queen Mathilde's ensemble. The dress is flattering, and I love the touches of orange (that is so strange to say) with the hat/turban and gloves. (The handsome King doesn't hurt, either!)
ReplyDeleteWell I have a completely other opinion then you. Nothing here appeals to me. You should never wear stripes across it makes you bigger and pleats on top of that...NOT a good choice.
DeleteLouise is true what you said that stripes makes looks bigger but i agree with Rachel, i think she looks very nice, perhaps because the colors, the oranges and stripes gives a young look. I dont think is hrt best look but very fresh and young
DeleteWell Stefania I don't think there is nothing with this dress except maybe the color that is youthful. We have seen Mathilde in these models before both skirt and dresses, and to say it blunt neither is good. Mathilde should ditch this particular model and throw her old ones far far into the closet. It does nothing for her other than make her look old and wider over the hips. Mathilde need a style that is more youthful since she is again to be blunt, not one of the young looking ladys and it would help if she cut her hair in a more modern style too, all these backcombing is not very fashionable or young. Not even a skinny teenager could have made this dress look young...not that a teenager would have been seen dead in this dress ;) Mathilde is a beautiful lady who deserve to look her best, but her style sorry to say have a tendency to look old and middelaged. We want more umph from her. So next time M we want to be floored in a good way ;)
Deletemooi fris kleedje, en mooie haarband, Koningin Mathilde is weer perfekt.
ReplyDeleteA brighter lipstick would have added to the over all look! Otherwise a lovely spring colourful outfit !
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of Natan. IMO, both Queens Mathilde and Maxima look far better in almost anything else.
ReplyDeleteNatan mostly creates atrocities. This outfit is one of the better, the dress Queen Maxima is wearing (see thread above) is worse because it makes her look very chubby and shapeless. Why can't Natan just create simple pencil skirts without any pleats or other fuzz? Of course wider skirts can look pretty too, but they have to be made of thin, soft and floating fabrics.

DeleteWell, it is certainly not my favourite dress but it is the hat I really do not like. Why have a hat with a hole in the centre?
ReplyDeleteNot flattering but I've seen worse.
ReplyDeleteits good to see the Queen smiling again.
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! Love the hat, however the rest of the orange accessories are in my opinion are, orange overload (and I love orange).
ReplyDeleteI think a nude shoe would have looked great with this dress, even a shoe to match what looks like a taupe colour in the dress would have looked lovely.
I agree with Annabel (above) a slightly brighter shade of lipstick would have looked nice, because the beautiful bright hat is making the Queen's lips look a little anaemic.
BEAUTIFUL DRESS!
