Order of the Elephant
The Order of the Elephant (Danish: Elefantordenen) is the highest order of Denmark. It has origins in the 15th century, but has officially existed since 1693, and since the establishment of constitutional monarchy in 1849, is now almost exclusively bestowed on royalty and heads of state. The Danish monarch is the head of the order. The order is worn by members of the royal family, and may also be bestowed on foreign heads of state. In very exceptional circumstances the order may also be bestowed on a commoner |
Mary was stylish!
ReplyDeleteMary one word - stunning.
ReplyDeleteWow, Mary outshines the others,Queen Margrethe superb, Marie always tries to be the fairytale princess but never succeeds, the look is more wedding dress. The feathers on the hats of the men?
ReplyDeleteHenrik's last appearance, since he is now retired?
ReplyDeleteThe ladies all look lovely, the Queen-queenly, Mary is gorgeous let down by Marie but she looked nice.
CP Mary's dress is like wow uniquely gorgeous; Princess Marie looks lovely, too.
ReplyDeletewow!!! Mary has already left Australia!
ReplyDeleteSarcasm as usual Anon 04:11.
DeleteOther European royals have probably spent their winter break at a ski resort. You seem to have a problem with Mary and Fredericks's holiday. What exactly is your objection?
Mary and The Queen look magnifique!!
ReplyDeleteMarie is without no competition the worst dressed in the Scandinavian royal houses!!!! Always wrong dressed ...... THIS is a winter galacelebration - not a summerparty. And the hairstyle is wrong to her face/head shape.
My recommendation to her: Change heardresser!!!
MM is the worst dressed in the Scandinavian royal houses!
DeleteI agree. Marie follows her.
DeleteI love the combination of velvet and sequins... GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteThe commentators on Danish television loved Marie's dress, as I recall it they seemed to praise the dress more that Mary's dress. Personally I think both dresses looked wonderfull, the "skirt" on Mary's dress looked absolutely lovely as it blowed in the wind. Didn't like the queens dress though, but the Queen and Prince got a huge applaude from the audience when they arrived, none of the others got that. The Queen had some problems with her new year speech to the population of Denmark the day before, she searched her notes to get it in the right order, maybe she was nervous because she was about to announce that Henrik would retire now. Anyway maybe that was the reason for the huge applaude.
ReplyDeleteMARY est royale
ReplyDeleteMary recycled the skirt JESPER HOVRING of november 2014 (Bambi awards)-She is really stunning - Marie is another style of woman, more simple and I like her dress.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen oh!this fur,is awful...
DeleteThey are all look amazing , relax and happy .
ReplyDeleteThe Crown Princess is stunning as usual, but why is Marie wearing a dress more suited to Summer?
ReplyDeleteI really like the color of Margrethe II, its so lovely and suits her so well. Mary's outfit looks interesting but its not my favourite by her. Marie's dress and shoes were not suitable for winter time! I get chills when I look at her, she must be freezing in this getup. But overall, all ladies looked lovely.
ReplyDeleteMary is amazing ! Her dress is very special!
ReplyDeleteOn anyone else I wouldn’t like it but she pulls it off.
I just really appreciate the creativity that went into taking the skirt and making a completely new outfit out of it.
CP Mary wears a stunning outfit , appropriate and elegant . She also shows the same charm as the Queen does .
DeleteDoes the elephant necklace has a special meaning?
ReplyDeleteYes, The Order of Elephant is the highest order of Denmark. Mostly female owners of that order but the Queen use badge, sash and star, but at New Years Day celebrations they wear all the collar.

ReplyDeleteune allure royale pour la princesse MARY
ReplyDeleteLove all the dress, the all look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMary looks like a Queen! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe queen looks like trash in that fur coat.....
Please refer to Her Majesty the Queen with respect, thank you........!
DeleteI'm sure if Princess Marie had the same clothing allowance (which must be something close to the national debt !) as Princess Mary, she too would receive a few more compliments ! I think she works with what she's got, and always looks gorgous ! You always see her beautiful smile before you notice what's she's wearing ! Marie is definetley an asset to the Danish Royal Family !
