Turkish President Abdullah GUl give dinner for Prince Albert at the Çankaya Palace in Ankara. Prince Albert II of Monaco is paying an official visit to Turkey upon the invitation of President Abdullah Gul. The visit by Prince Albert II to Turkey is of great importance as his is the first state visit from Monaco.
President Abdullah Gul welcomed his guest with an official ceremony at the Çankaya Presidential Palace and the two leaders afterwards had a tete-a-tete.
President Gül, pointing to the fact that the visit by Prince Albert II to Turkey is of great importance as his is the first state visit from Monaco, recalled that he and Prince Albert II of Monaco had conducted a bilateral talk during the 5th World Water Forum held in 2009 in Istanbul as well.
The visit by Prince Albert II to Turkey is historically important in that his is the first state visit from Monaco. It will pave the way for two countries to enhance their existing solidarity and cooperation in the international arena which have been diversified in recent years and to evaluate the other prospective and promising collaboration areas such as bio-diversity, environment and renewable energy, reaffirming the political will that two states have to carry the current bilateral relations they are enjoying into the future.
Prince Albert II, after completing his program in Ankara, is to proceed to Istanbul where he is to meet with the Turkish business circle and deliver a speech entitled ‘The Environment and the Activities of the Foundation of Prince Albert II’ at Boğaziçi University.
Predicting that Prince Albert II’s visit will open a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two countries and enable them to open new cooperation areas like sustainable development, finance and renewable energy, the President further stated that since 2008, Turkish-Monaco diplomatic relations launched in 1954 were raised to the level of embassy. Furthermore, he noted they have gained a considerable momentum, adding that, in recent years, the commercial ties between Turkey and Monaco have also been strengthened. The President further expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Prince Albert II toward the consolidation of Monaco’s position in the international arena since he succeeded to the throne in 2005.
As for Prince Albert II of Monaco, he averred his happiness to be visiting Turkey and reiterated his appreciation for Turkey’s growing importance and her role in the regional and international arena, adding that as part of Monaco’s vision in foreign policy, he paid an official visit to Kazakhstan as well.
Stating that his visit will contribute to the development of the bilateral relations between Turkey and Monaco, Prince Albert II declared Turkey to be Monaco’s 5th biggest partner in imports and said both countries’ representatives of the private sector will serve as the bridge of cooperation.
