On October 10, 2024, the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Southport Community Centre to meet bereaved families, first responders, and members of the local community affected by the tragic incident in July. Three girls tragically lost their lives when an attacker entered a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club on 29 July and began a stabbing spree. Ten people, including two adults, sustained serious injuries.

  3. Catherine looks lovely here! I love this McQueen coat on her--it's a classic design and fits her like a glove. I would love to see more of her dress--what a beautiful color for her as well as for fall. I also notice she is wearing her new ring--it really is a beautiful ring.

  4. A lovely Fall look, right down to her leaf earrings. Burgundy is a good color with her green eyes. Unfortunately, I do not like the stubble on William. I hope he grows out a full beard or shaves. This in-between looks grimy.

    1. It's not stubble, it's a short, well-groomed beard, and it suits him perfectly. And even stubble mostly looks better on a male than a clean-shaven baby face.

  5. Wonderful News! But how did she manage her beautiful hair during therapy?

    1. Very good question. She is obviously not getting the standard therapy which usually results in hair loss. Apparently, there ARE other therapies that don´t lead to hair loss. I´m sure that she as a senior royal and future queen gets the best care, but that also begs the question why normal people get invasive medicine that has such devastating effects on their system, and that´s not just hair loss. Catherine looks nothing like other people who go through chemo therapy, and everytime we see her I´m in awe how it´s possible to look so good and be so active despite it all. Especially in the video she released. Other cancer patients would only dream of that. I know a thing or two about that as I have lost several family members to cancer, or rather to cancer therapy. Kate looks nothing like that. If this sort of outcome is possible, why isn´t it afforded to every patient? (I know the answer to that question, but it still begs to be asked.)

    2. Every treatment is different, I don’t know why some people are questioning Catherine .s cancer evolution( not revering to you 3.26) some comments are really rude towards Catherine, just let her be
And getting healthy again .. btw Catherine looks happy that’s the most important

    3. In reply to Vanessa: I couldn’t agree more. I know that where I live, outcomes are dependent upon what one is able to pay. It’s pretty evil.

    4. Sorry for only explaining in german.

    5. The same as Sabsie writes is in the Netherlands available and every patient can ask for it.

    6. Sabsi wrote in German: there are so-called "cold caps" to wear during chemotherapy, that can prevent the toxic stuff reaching the blood supply for hair roots, so one may keep some or quite a lot of hair. It is not that expensive, even if the cancer treatment station does not provide it. It burns like hell and gives you no guarantee. As for why Catherine looks good, this too is individual. A friend of mine got chemotherapy for colon cancer and 3-4 months later she looks like blooming life (what she is definitely not), and: she lost a bit of hair but not everything - even without a cold cap. Everyone reacts in a different way and it makes me sad to see how fashion blog commentators find it appropriate to delve into the inner proceedings of other people.

    7. I am trulyhorrified by some comments on here. I used to comment quite often but stopped two years ago when my husband died. He died from cancer of the oesophagus and received treatment including chemotherapy for 9 months. He did not lose his hair and the comments here are just so unfair and completely wrong. This is such a good site which I continue to enjoy when truthful uncontroversial and interesting views on fashion are made

    8. A friend had stage 3 colon cancer , took chemotherapy, never lost her hair. However I would like to see the princess shorten her hair, I find this length just hangs heavy, yes I know it is thick but shorter would frame her face nicely.

    9. I agree with Greet. Every cancer therapy is different. It depends on the kind of cancer you have. These days a lot of cancer is treated without chemotherapy but with radiotherapy or a mixture of both. Also immunotherapy is much used during the last 5 years.
About the costs : in some countries social security is paying back more of the costs than in other. You can also take an insurance to protect you in case you have high medical costs. There are all kind of medical insurance among which you can choose. In my country it is often the employer who offers it to his employees as a sort of salary, just like the use of a company car or restaurant cheques.

    10. @Vanessa Not every chemotherapy drug causes hair loss. I have taken a chemotherapy drug for a number of years and didn't lose my hair. For Catherine, it has nothing to do with "standard therapy". It is about the specific drug, the dose, and other preventative measures (like cold caps). Each cancer has different accepted protocols for treatment (that means for everyone). Some more grueling than others. There is no generic "standard" for "cancer". She has stated that she underwent preventative chemo, not alternative treatments. We should be happy for her that she looks so well.

    11. @Elizabeth 15:08 I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. You are correct about some of the comments on this blog. Lines are crossed far too often with insensitive and ignorant comments. It ruins the experience for all.

  8. This dress is a big no. The coat is fine. The colour is a bit drab, but would be nice with a great combo underneath.

  9. She looks much healthier and so happy to see her back to work! Although I don't think this combination of colours brings her radiance, she looks tired because of these colours:((

  11. Bien élégante dans ce manteau croisé aux superbes lignes ; je remarque qu'elle a ressorti de son écrin à bijoux ses boucles d'oreilles que j'ai toujours aimées !

  12. I think this coat looks better with boots and scarf, like full winter mode. It is a bit too long and dark and heavy to be worn with light tights and pumps. We cannot see much of what she is wearing underneath, but I like neither the bow (as such and the way it competes with blouse collar and coat lapals) nor the combination of burgundy with the brown.
I think William looks good. Granted, the beard is still not fully grown yet, but I have decided that I like it on him. It looks manly and makes his face look less long, but most of all, it´s a welcome change. Why not try it out? I also like that he´s added a jumper to his suit+tie outfit as a means to dress down a bit for this sort of visit.

  13. Les deux couleurs sont un peu ternes mais je pense qu'elle a fait ce choix pour être discrète et ne pas focaliser l'attention sur sa tenue, et aussi par égard pour les familles mais sans porter des vêtements trop sombres. Paloma.

  14. I know I'm in the minority in this world, but I do not like facial hair on men. It makes them look older than they are; also you can't see their facial expressions. I think they want to hide. It drives me crazy how unkempt most of them look. The beards are not of an even color; gray or a ginger color is sprinkled throughout. In my opinion, very few men look good in a beard. (Think Ernest Hemingway.) If they would just stick to something modest and trimmed, maybe, just maybe, I could be persuaded to come on board. But, alas, many men today wind up looking like an Old Testament prophet.. I do wish William would reconsider. A beard is not for him. It will add 10 years to his look. Just take a look at the once handsome King Felipe of Spain. He looks about 70.

    1. I've noticed that women who've had a close bearded male relative in their childhood tend to like beards more. I had a bearded father and a bearded uncle, and I'm married to a bearded man. To my eyes, a beard suits most men, and once you've seen a man with a beard, a clean-shaven jawline looks almost comical on him. Granted, there are a few men, whose face is so boyish and prepubescent -- even when they have reached their forties and fifties -- that you find it impossible to imagine them with a beard. But to my eyes they are in the absolute minority. William's beard looks fantastic on him, I hope he'll keep it.

    3. I also dislike facial hair. I especially dislike the 5 o’clock shadow trend. Yuck

    4. If men lamented on what they wanted a woman to look like, and decided that current styles were not pleasing to them, there would be outrage. Men wear beards now. Short, cropped beards. They should be able to do what is fashionable without women declaring it "yuck" unless they are wearing something offensive. As long as the beard is well-kept, it is attractive. "...[historically,] monarchs, the clergy, or other “power figures” have often led historic follicle fashions."

  15. Burgundy and brown are a beautiful combination. Very autumnal. I would have liked the dress without the bow. William looks great. His beard is trendy and flatters him. I love the length. A longer beard would be aging. I am also delighted to see him wearing something other than the traditional blue suit.

  17. I know from a good friend who was severely treated for cancer that she did not lose her hair (this depends on the drugs used) and she had access to special makeup for which she visited a specific course. This enabled her to look far better than in reality. This certainly applies to Katherine.

  19. Welcome back to the princess of Wales. Love the entire look. And liking the new rings she is wearing.
The prince of Wales looks fantastic too, his beard is coming along nicely.
As someone who works in the drug manufacturing world, particularly for targeted drug delivery, I implore some in the comments to educate themselves. We have made, and continue to make immense advances to ensure the common adverse effects associated with treatments are a thing of the past. We’ve made it possible for patients to even receive chemo n the comfort of their own homes. And as others have said, the treatment depends on the type of cancer, and not all patients lose their hair.

  21. So glad she was able to go to this engagement. She clearly felt it important. Glad too she wore something darker in colour. The McQueen coat is heavenly. Thank goodness she has ditched that hideous hideous huge Diana ring. Poor woman having to wear it for over a decade. Her current stack suit her much better and are clearly a better fit for her style.

    1. I also think her new ring most likely has a personal connection to her and William. The Diana ring had history, but no personal connection to her own marriage.
