On October 5, Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako arrived in Saga to attend the opening ceremony of the National Sports Festival, now known as the Japan Games. Later, the Emperor and Empress attended the official opening ceremony of the Japan Games at Saga Sunrise Park in the southwestern prefecture of Saga. The annual sports event, which began in 1946 as the National Sports Festival, was rebranded as the Japan Games this year.
Le couple impérial a toujours beaucoup d'élégance ; que ce soit vêtue de blanc ou de vert amande, Masako est superbe ; comme d'habitude, son époux sait bien choisir la couleur de sa cravate pour être à l'unisson avec elle !
ReplyDeleteThe Empress looks super smart in. her trouser suit--she wears this style so well. I love the green suit--and even the hat (I usually hate this style of hat the Empress always seems to wear). The tailoring of the design on the suit is beautiful. Not many people can carry off this color but Masako looks great. She looks serene and happy.

Unfortunately, I have read in the past, somewhere, The royal family does not get to choose what the wear. Their daily wardrobe is chosen for them.
DeleteSeems a pity that the one thing in life we all take for granted is the choice of what we wear. The one thing we opt for to make us feel good about ourselves.
Yet, they allow someone to dictate what the wear. Sad. The Emperor and Empress always appear attired appropriately for the events they attend.
@Anon 00:46 I don't think it's their daily wardrobe that is chosen for them but their public wardrobe, i.e. what they wear when performing public and ceremonial functions. In their daily private lives they can (and do) wear whatever they want - but you'll never see it.

Anon 00:46 You are correct. The Imperial Household Agency controls their style of dress. No updates to official clothing styles to modernize their wardrobes has been made since after WWII.

Delete"yet, they allow someone to dictate what they wear, sad" I don't think they have much to say of what they wish to wear or not, they allow it because this is the only way. It is clear that the Emperor and the Empress have less power than the elderly who do not wish to change much at this aspect of ancient laws that must be followed and have not change since the early 50-s. Maybe there are other traditions and rules we do not know of and still must be followed. I do not envy the Emperor and the Empress. It does not surprise me that the Empress had problems with her health at the beginning of her life in the Imperial palace and Imperial family.
Very nice and good fitting cream business suit worn by EM. I like the green deux piece as well, but that type of hat, as mentioned before, is not flattering at all; not only when worn by EM, but also when worn by other female members of the imperial family.
ReplyDeleteVery becoming outfits
ReplyDeleteI was thinking, Well, perfect ensemble, very classy, but beige again ? Then I saw the lime green ensemble, and what a great pop of summery color for Empress Masako ! Not sure about the braid along the hem on the jacket though, it seems at odds with the buttons somehow, but still, this is so refreshing.

Two beautiful outfits!
ReplyDeleteEmpress Masako always looks so elegant in trouser suits and this time is no different. Very nice! I also really love the matcha colour and styling of the green outfit. I'm guessing from the creases that the fabric might be a linen silk blend? The embroidered style edging is so delicate and beautiful. Now if only she had a different, modern style hat, this look would be elevated to a higher realm than it already is. Brava.

-Dorothe-
ReplyDeleteDear Dorothe, Loved your comments, especially when you stated that the
Deleteimperial couple has an enchanting and bewitching impact on others. The German original sounds more poetical than my translation.

ReplyDeleteWell said
ReplyDeleteVery pretty in an unusual vibrant green colour !! Beautiful !!
ReplyDeleteI like the Empress’s pants suit - the color, necklace, clutch, heels, and clean lines combine for a crisp, elegant look.

This lady is always elegant and stylish. She wears pantsuits or dresses very well. Also always has a great smile for the people.

DeleteThe pantsuit is looking chique and the empress is looking very young. The green ensemble on the other hand and the style of the hat are clothes I don't like. It looks like queen Mathilde as well as queen Maxima are not the only ones with wrinkles in their skirt, also empress Masako has them (pict N° 7).
